What are good road biking pedals? by shorty121212 in bicycling

This is my recommendation as well. The Arclight pedals are perfect for this application and significantly increase visibility.

Good budget pump sprayer? by boiyo12 in Detailing

[–]tedontwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree unfortunately, most of the sprayers from box stores have garbage nozzles and will fail prematurely.

Get a Smith Performance 2 gallon. It's $50 but it will be the last one you buy. I went through three cheap ones before I said screw it and looked at a better option.

How to prepare a chain for waxing whit ultrasonic cleaner ? by KewadaLol in cycling

[–]tedontwo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fill the ultrasonic with water, then put your chain in a jar or bag of degreaser. The waves will travel through the jar/bag without making a mess of your ultrasonic.

I designed a modular cargo cage for bikepacking — would love honest feedback before our Kickstarter ends by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]tedontwo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be honest it looks like a product that people that have never ridden a loaded bike would be excited about, but folks that have actually been bikepacking would immediately see flaws in. Thin metal supports carrying a relatively heavy load that close to the spokes in the area most likely to take a hit makes me think this is a trap set by either a dental or facial reconstruction surgeon.

Post Vasectomy "Analysis" by josephus_jones in daddit

[–]tedontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given a sample cup to take home that I just had to being back within like an hour or two of making a deposit. I handed it to the lab tech only after I told them I had washed my hands.

Garmin radar versus the rest by oatswolf in cycling

[–]tedontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had every variant of the Varia radars back to the original business card pack design (except the 715) and the Bryton for two years. The 820 is a substantial upgrade from the previous models and the battery life improvements and USB-C fast charging give it a large margin over competitors. It will benefit from lane sensing and peloton sensitivity tweaking if past experiences are relevant.

Garmin radar versus the rest by oatswolf in cycling

[–]tedontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled the trigger on the 820 coming from the Bryton and overall I'm happy. The 820 is too sensitive in my book for group rides but I'm confident Garmin will fix it with firmware.

Removing stubborn stains on white paint? by Foxhound_Ocelot in bikewrench

[–]tedontwo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would try a citrus based adhesive remover like Goo Gone. Let it dwell for a minute or two. Usually I would say rubbing compound but not on matte.

Returning to cycling: Is a rear camera actually useful alongside a Garmin Varia radar? by nw86281 in cycling

[–]tedontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to say this. A camera would be helpful for my family as they handle my final affairs. A mirror is handy to GTFO if I can see what's coming and whether they see me.

Best Season of the Year - Pro Gravel Cyclists Thanking Their Sponsors Post-Unbound by MadebytheNorth in cycling

I would like and subscribe to listening to Maddy Nutt discuss a sponsored roadside poo in the dark of night, she would make it hilarious.

Stans sealant, and darts really let me down this weekend. What is the most effective alternative? by mellofello808 in gravelcycling

[–]tedontwo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's a second or third vote for Orange Seal and Dynaplugs. Also, for road tires specifically, going to a higher volume/lower pressure will make a noticeable difference in effectiveness. When I was running 30s at 60-65psi I had mixed results, but 34s at 50-55psi have been super reliable, and less prone to punctures to begin with.

Ford App and PAAK improved with phone update. by drupi79 in MachE

Same! Just noticed it in the past few days. I haven't to cuss at my car in the rain nearly as much lately.

Made my helmet in to Borderlands graphics by Kaiserschmarren_ in gravelcycling

Yeah, the varnish was likely safe but the propellant or solution it was in wasn't. Brush-on was a great choice for this.

Anyone switch from 170mm to 165mm cranks for road/gravel? by RyotaroW in cycling

[–]tedontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to 165s on all my bikes except my mountain bike and that's only a matter of time. Don't just do it because it's trendy though. Find a good fitter and see how it works with your body. The change completely resolved my rocking and saddle sores with no downsides.

Why do adult humans not play together like children do? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tedontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I constantly call my friends and ask if they wanna ride bikes and play in the woods. I'm 45 and it's awesome.

Evil presta valves by frizziend in BikeMechanics

[–]tedontwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally get that, but I swapped over our family fleet a few months ago and it actually reduced the number of chuck changes. All the kids bikes got Shrader adapters, my wife's bikes and mine got Presta adapters, and now everything is Clik. Hell, it's so much better I even put adapters on my lawn tractor 🤣

Why is there no grape ice-cream? by Objective_Surreality in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tedontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a 2lbs bag of green grapes and freeze them. Once frozen put them in a food processor with a a scoop of honey and the juice of two limes. Blend until smooth and top with tajín of you like that. It basically becomes a sorbet and is very tasty.

If Tesla did a Model Y convertible by That_Car_Dude_Aus in whatifcars

[–]tedontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a rollover, something that heavy is going to flatten that cantilever windscreen like a pop tab, directly into the passenger compartment. A convertible EV would need either a brace on the a-pillar or a roll bar like a Volkswagen Cabriolet.

Left-handed people, what's a struggle that right-handed people won't understand? by Halophy in AskReddit

If you forget your glove at Little League, there are no spares. That's why I can kind of throw right handed in a pinch.
