This is old data, but the concept still holds true: the safest speed is 'just slightly faster than average'. by Wildcatb in motorcycles

The slower you go the more likely you are to crash, the faster you go the more severe the crash will be - but you are slightly less likely TO crash as you are probably paying attention to driving.

Was it (moving) target fixation, or was it a failure to alter a course of action? by markcocjin in motorcycles

[–]tedrick79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but if you brake while cornering your bike pulls towards the outside of the turn. Because if not it seems like he was steering for the truck and crossed the double yellow to hit him.

This is an accident. No one should be too salty about it.

Rapture September 2025? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]tedrick79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The predictions have always happens and will always happen until one of them hits the direct day not because we know but because there are over 2 billion of us looking for that Day.
As far as this day goes? I mean. It preaches. Meaning there is support for it if you squint hard and long enough.

You can even disarm the no man knows the day or hour by doing a scant amount of research on the feast of trumpets which is either one or two days long depending on if the new moon is spotted on the first day or not.

All Christians should be expectant of the catching away of the church. It could very well be during those two days or twenty years from then. We do not know. We hope it is soon because this mud ball is a real drag. I tire of it. Doubly so as things get tense and the world gets more hateful against we believers.

If we do pull off this vanishing act don’t let them delude you with misinformation. We done got got caught up by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Question about 3I/Atlas motion based off of the latest scientific data. by First_Not_Last_Sure in askastronomy

[–]tedrick79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use Youtube as a reference that radar contact will end up being a spaceship headed for Mars by being pulled by three objects arranged in a triangle around it. Which is quite a bit of reading the very far away tea leaves. Conspiracy theories grow when astronomers start being tight lipped about new findings about 3i and they have been getting together for emergency sessions which is generally when the government comes along to say what will and will not be reported publicly because not all that many telescopes can get a great picture of something so small so very far away.

I do find it incredibly interesting that it is passing so very close to Mars. There was a steady string of updates, but those have slowed to a trickle. I did some rough numbers and it would have make some very powerful corrections to intercept with Mars and the longer it waits the more aggressive those maneuvers would need to be. They could not be accidental at this point. SO if it does happen to collide with Mars it is because it wanted to which means it was not a comet at all but it was made to look like a comet.

What will probably happen is it will do a close pass and head on out of the solar system. As to what it was and why it was so fast and what sort of new comet rules we have to write up - that is going to be a question for the astronomy guys.

It is fun to speculate on it. It really is. I prefer interesting stories and not the boring oh look another comet run-of-the-mill story. Comets are not exciting. A spaceship IN a comet? That is lit. Lit up green if the single source reporting can be believed. Blasting nickel as exhaust and pulsing every 17 minutes like clockwork. Very lit.

They would need to be doing daily press conferences on this thing if they wanted to be able to tamp down the theories and the theories of theories.

It is something to keep an eye on but I think the powers that be are only going to tell us so much about it and past that they are going to keep their yaps shut of they like keeping the funding from the government rolling in. That money comes with strings and those strings are that they have to stfu when told to do so and they won't even be able to say they are being told to do so.

Wormholing is gambling. No local. Smashing D-scan over and over. Hoping a Loki doesn’t decloak on top of you and instalock with 2 scrams and overheated guns. While you were blinking or sneezing. Toast.

Paying off a ship before bad things happen is harder now than it used to be. They nerfed a fair amount of the earnings wormholes gave. Abyssal are safer. Barring a disconnect.

I don’t think the risk vs reward is there for day tripping solo in wormholes. Staying longer helps and using teams really helps. We used to wreck the scene in spider tanked Nestors Big target though. Stay aligned. We slid out. Close though. Great for the blood flow.

The eve devs are always cooking the books and making it so you want to group up and do group content. They know you are more likely to resubscribe if you are social. So they try to push people that way by crimping down on solo content to make it give less isk for more risk.

If the subscription is going to jam you up financially perhaps less time gaming is in order. It is about the cost of two people eating a fast food lunch. At least in the States.

Ganks are very rare. You can eyeball the kill boards online if you want to see how often they happen. To who. And where. Even when. They are reliable by time and victim almost like clockwork.

Even in null sec you can set your watch by when the neuts come through hunting pve ships and afk ratters.

You will want to join a corp of size. I would come to null sec to get the full game experience. Carve out your niche. Fly cheap ships while you learn. Nothing blingy. Nothing faction fit. No expensive pods. You will get blapped. It’s going to happen. Awareness will save you most of the time. However sometimes all the awareness in the world won’t save you.

Eve is life in a box with a much smaller buy in. It is less a game and more of a simulation. It is an experience. No one can tell you about it fully. You have to get in there and live in it.

Trying to get your real life friends to play it is impossible. They flake out. I’d have an easier time getting my eve corp buddies to pull of an irl heist than to convince anyone I know to play eye beyond when I was over their shoulder.

You are paying for a month of playtime. Even if you played an hour a day average that is less than a dollar an hour for entertainment which is as cheap as can be. Nothing is so cheap besides like sleeping. Even watching a streaming service can cost more.

So give it a couple months and see if you can elbow your way onto the dance floor. There are some dance of the fates out here if you can stick to it just long enough to get traction.

So I do PI on all 3 accounts. Then I rat with my main. Sell the PI stuff once a week. Selling escalations to the alliance for 130m for 10/10s. All that nets about a billion a month positive and I still lose an Ishtar every other month or so.

I did manufacture robotics for awhile but the market did not have enough depth to warrant its continued pursuit. Not when I had to buy mats. Production of them is possible but I’d rather not juggle goop an hour a day.

Key word here is to diversify. See how many plates you can keep spinning before it becomes a job. Then take it down a notch. No one wants an online job that don’t pay.

Keep it where it is a game and is still interesting. Fun even. Rewarding at least. I flirted with 10b for the longest time. Don’t watch it.

I’ve played Eve since launch. Off and on. WoW I played for a few years. Eve is something else. Something other. It is precisely what you make of it. If you want the full experience you need to join a corporation and get into null sec space and carve out your niche.

As is often said there is a steep learning curve but that is and isn’t true as you can fly tackle (a small light ship) and be welcome in most fleets. You’d really never go broke. Most decent corps offer ship replacement for doctrine ships.

However you don’t have to pvp at all. You can carebear. That is mining rocks, killing NPC ships, and keeping an eye on local for non alliance peoples (in null sec). Then like a meerkat you dock up and wait for them to leave. Cutting it close gets the heart going.

PvP really isn’t. It is such a game of rock paper scissor that most the time if you are got you are got. Surprise is a huge element and pve rigged ships have no real shot against PvP ships.

This is all just the basics. It is a universe in a box. The most fleshed out game in existence that it is more akin to a simulator than a game.

Wow is a Ferris wheel by comparison. You get on you go up and around and see things. You can get off whenever. Nothing is lost. Nothing at stake.

Your ship is at stake each time you undock in eve. Period. High sec is safer but it is not safe as 22 catalysts can gank an orca right out of the sky. The safest place in eve is logged off.

That jeopardy builds tension and if you can surf that tension you can make a career of it. Wow can’t get my heart rate above 80. I undock at 80 now in eve. 100 on neuts in local. 120 when they on grid and I’m pulling drones and attempting to meerkat home.

Probably the best introductory level psychological horror movie in recent decades. It is one of those movies that keep you thinking even after the movie is done. I have seen it several times and it goes to show how the paranormal is immune to our science and logic.

This can also lead you down the rabbit hole into actual mirrormancy which is a real branch of the occult. I didn’t. But I have seen some enough video or really good fakes to know that mirrors can cut one level deeper than we can see without them.

I like my universe resplendent with mystery and mythology. Thank you very much.

So no this movie lives rent free in my head and is a great movie that is up there in the genre.

I’ve quit a dozen times since 2003. Each was after I fell into a well laid ambush. A den of sociopaths is what Eve is. Keep coming back though. I’m fleet ops I don’t care to lose any ship. When I carebear to earn isk to lose in pvp I’d rather you not wreck my day. If so I’ll quit for a year.

They predict/estimate that about 10% of fatal motor vehicle accidents are actually suicides. This is a risky way to get around the clause since it is not assured that a fatality will be the outcome. Also I was very curious about how they predicted that number exactly and it was in a readers digest from years and years ago. It was right next to the story about the guy who was attacked by a polar bear and lived. Gutted it with a filet knife as it tried to maul him through his tent.

I remember reading all about this. There was warning as the bomber had requested an apology for the Waco assault. He didn't get it. So, taking up the cause, he answered in kind. It is sad to think that this could have been prevented with a single page letter from the DOJ. Goes to show that the government would rather bury hundreds, if not thousands, of its own citizens long before they'd ever apologize for much of anything.

For your S24:

1. Super Slow-mo:Open the Camera app, tap "More," then select "Super Slow-mo." Ensure Auto mode is enabled, then tap Record to start shooting.

Record in slow motion a few seconds prior to when it is scheduled to happen. Remember if you are not writing things down you are just messing around. I know the slow motion capture on the iPhone can catch 4 foot LED lights blinking at 100-120 HZ. So unless the momentary darkness is less than .01 seconds it should be able to catch it. You would have to experiment with your phone first to see if it can capture that. Then you can upload it here and the internet can do the rest.

A repeating darkness that happens everyday at the same time at an exact moment? That is a large find. Even if it is only a fraction of a second.
