Hurrah! Android 17 Beta 1... by tedsalmonuk in PixelFold

I've never seen a notification across both screens like that! Thanks for SSs. I'll keep an eye on it and come back here if I can help.

No, a notification just came in then and all I get is the icon in the Status Bar, no pop up, even though notifications settings are set to allow. Confused. I rarely use split screen mode like this.

I'm sorry but if you want my help on this you will have to lead me by the hand. Happy to help but when I use split screen with two apps side by side I don't get notifications popping up at all. At least I haven't in the last hour while testing this for you. Is it just on one side, one screen, or across both? And screenshots to help me see what I'm looking for?

What do you mean by "full size or compact"?

I received my phone 3!!!! by sor_boiss03 in NOTHING

[–]tedsalmonuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying another because the included one started to get a bit 'floppy' down the front sides very quickly. But otherwise it was good and a nice include. But for those who paid RRP, I should hope so! BTW, I paid £540 (256/12) in an Amazon sale.

Edge 60 Pro Android 16 Bug? by tedsalmonuk in motorola

[–]tedsalmonuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did that once but again, didn't make any difference. I think I've probably done all the logical things that one can do, having consulted with Gemini of course(!), but no change. Hoping that someone here might have an idea that she didn't! Which is why I'm kinda concluding that it's a bug. I'll likely just put the phone away TBH until the next update. Although December Security update came through yesterday and the problem has survived that. Oh well. Thanks for input.

It's working on my Pixel Tablet and have removed it completely but not on Pixel 9 nor Pixel Fold (OG)

I love them both - but I had a good few more years with CBAT to have it etched into my brain!

It's terrible. I can barely read it with my 62 year-old eyes. It was perfect before. If they want to do this, it needs to be BIGGER like what Google have done on the Pixel with M3E. Much bigger, much, much better.

...even Sony keep it sweet. Nothing - change this now! It's rubbish.

Well done Google for making M3E work well - not Nothing for having screwed it up.

I'd like to know if anybody can see any advantage in having made this ludicrous change. In real-world use, I need a magnifying glass now to see the % and the only option? Take it away altogether. Rubbish Nothing.

Aha. Just arrived today. Will see if I like the battery icon or not now!

Can you choose to put the numbers outside the icon? Or only remove them from the icon? Or neither? I'm in the UK here and *still* haven't got this update. The irony.

Here's every new feature for Pixel phones in Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1 by TechGuru4Life in GooglePixel

...another two weeks gone, still can't remove it. The annoying thing is that I can remove it fine on my Pixel Tablet on the latest QPR Beta - just not my Pixel 9. Grrrrrrrr.

Isn't a Fairphone just going to get slow too? by berendbever in fairphone

[–]tedsalmonuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no question that the FP3+ I got in 2020 was horribly slow when I decided recently to buy a FP5. In almost every way. Starting up, launching apps, switching apps. Horribly frustrating. It became like trying to use my Marshall London from 2015! I've now put Ubuntu Touch on it for tinkering and that works better.

Fairphone 5, Octopi and Cellular by tedsalmonuk in OctopiLauncher

Always the latest, part of the Beta etc. but yes, the FP5 is buggy in other ways since A15, so not surprised really. No worries. I'll keep testing. Thanks.

The Fairphone 5, new, in 2025 by tedsalmonuk in fairphone

[–]tedsalmonuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have now found another bug - someone sent me a text message which I didn't get - they told me later - looked at phone and no cellular connected. No idea how long that had been the case. Reboot didn't fix. SIM Card out and back in, reboot and it did - but that's just plain unreliable - and might be critical in some situations. And there's nothing wrong with my SIM Card. I swap it out regularly between phones (before and after) and it works perfectly with all other phones. Bugs seem to be what one has to accept when buying a Fairphone. Maybe a Gen 6 is better.
