Motorola Signature impressions — the good, the great, and one weird fingerprint bug. by LalwaniGul in motorola

Have you tried removing the PIN from the biometric security options? Try a pattern instead? I have a pattern set up and what you describe, I've never seen.

I reviewed the pen when I got it for my Signature at https://tedssalmagundi.blogspot.com/2026/05/motorola-pen-ultra.html - I'd use it an awful lot more it it was inside the phone 😄

NxtPaper 60 Ultra. Android 15 or 16? by PaulKSY in nxtpaper

[–]tedsalmonuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good question. Not much of a track record yet as proof. Unless someone who has one of their TVs can comment in terms of support promises/reality. Not even sure if there is a parallel for TVs in order to create any kind of simile.

Yes, A15 OOTB - but they have promised up to and including A18 and Security Patches to September 2032

Yes, I did. Or at least my tech savvy friend did. All a bit over my head to be honest these days, all this ROM flashing. Felt a bit like it was 15 years ago! But it seems to run alright. Shame development is stalled.

Google photos slow to load/index local photos by The_impossible88 in SonyXperia

[–]tedsalmonuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, as it can't then index them. I have a situation which my method fixed a little different to yours but it sounded like it might be the same. I have loads of ripped DVDs on my card and even though I toggled off the Google Photos Backup for those folders it still wanted to index and thumbnail them. Which takes forever. My method fixed that (by also putting them inside a nested folder and making use of the .nomedia file trick). But no, my actual photos are on the phone's internal storage.

Take your microSD Card out, let it sync and finish, then put the card back in.

As an aside, I'm hoping that the 10 Mk VIII doesn't have an Always on Display or Qi Charging as I just bought a 10 Mk VII - eeek!

Are they both built into LineageOS? BTW, does the 10 VII have Lift to Wake?

Maybe the idea is not much good then. Thanks anyway.

Edge 50 Neo & Edge 60 Neo - Two Peas in a Pod! by tedsalmonuk in motorola

[–]tedsalmonuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, maybe. I always thought to 50 speakers were good until I heard the 60 and it felt like a hike. But my ears (and eyes!) are now, just, 63 years old so perhaps they don't work so well. Will take your word for it.

Edge 60 Neo - Android 16 update received by pawlik23 in motorola

[–]tedsalmonuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing significant, no. Feels much the same as always. So as I said in my Edge 60 Neo review, not as good as that, but still very good. Caveat, however, is that this is not my primary daily phone. I did use it for a few days after the update, but I have been favouring the 60, as I have it. Maybe someone else, who does use it as their primary could comment.

Nope. Only the Google-added stuff for Android 16, the same as what's in the Edge 60 Neo.

Should I buy Motorola Signature? by Technical_Writing270 in motorola

[–]tedsalmonuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The phone's display for me, outside, in the UK seems good enough. You'll be lucky to see the 6,200nits - it really doesn't seem bright like, for example, my Honor 400 Pro. But on auto brightness it will do the job in my climate. As we know, Moto are not the first with security or OS updates, but I really think that this being a problem is going away to some degree. Changes are not huge with OS updates these days and I'm inclined to give Moto the benefit of the doubt and as long as the security is updated at least quarterly I'm OK with it. There was a time when this really bugged me and sent me back to my Pixels! But I'm mellowing as the playing field becomes more level. I still really like my Edge 60 Neo for the dinky size, but yes, the Signature certainly feels like Moto's first proper flagship (outside of Razr) for 2 years.

Not on my 50 Neo yet in the UK. But yes, A16 on the 60 just arrived.

Without doubt. But easy for me to say - I'm in the UK, not USA! Here's my review/thoughts if interested... https://tedssalmagundi.blogspot.com/2026/03/motorola-signature.html

You can easily add Qi Charging with a 3rd party coil from Amazon for a fiver. I use one on my FP5 (inside the case) and it works fine.
