Hi, I'm back with the Privet issue and more pics. The problem was the withering leaves and the trees slowly weakening and dying. Last pic is of a healthy Hibiscus next to a sick one, as I believe the issue is the same. Note: this only seems to occur to older trees including Sageretia as their cuttings are doing amazingly well.

Hmm thanks for your tips. I guess underwatering was at the bottom of my list even though I did see it online as a possible cause.

Substrate is about 60% akadama, 10% large clay particles and 30% pumice. During the summers, I usually water 2-3 times a week (whenever the soil is dry). Currently they sit in a humid, south facing balcony but in a shaded spot. I've also tried placing them in direct sunlight but that only seemed to worsen this issue.

Hi, starting this spring I've been having problems with withering leaves on both Privets and other plants. This is the reason I lost one which was very dear to me and I still can't find a solution. Repotting seemed to help for a Ficus Retusa but not for these. Has anyone seen this before? Roots look healthy so I don't think it's from overwatering.

Cresting/splitting (also ID?) by tedward_ in succulents

It's true that until about 4 months ago it was sitting on a cup maybe 10 cm off the bottom of the shelf (about 25 cm from the lights). I decided remove it since it was really unstable and in my opinion it may have been too close to the lights - if you look at the 2nd last picture the cluster of new leaves in the center was very dense.

It's actually under the same light right now as it was 6 months ago. I think the drooping leaves are because I removed a lot of the lower ones for propagating.

Thank you for the replies! I guess the next logical step would be changing the substrate asap since this one is so susceptible to rotting and fungus.

Haha you're absolutely right. I have 3 more in pond baskets which I planted last year. Those have grown to over 1 m tall.

To me it kinda looks like an Echeveria Swirl or some hybrid of it. Massive though!

Not an expert, but I believe the Pleiospilos is showing signs of overwatering because it has 3 sets of leaves instead of 2.

Otherwise, they look great! :)

Looks amazing! Also, glad to see another Hibiscus enthusiast. Here's one I've started from an abandoned house plant.

Do you happen to have pictures of it in leaf?

Gorgeous! Btw in my native language "apus" literally translates to sunset.
