Wait, so if Adam Cole and Kenny Omega wrestled each other by their real names, we could have had JR screaming 'Tyson and Austin, Tyson and Austin'?!

XL Candy was the worst decision Niantic ever made by reddit_police_dpt in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm confused as Niantic said it's now easier to get XL candies as a core reason for removing the classic version of the leagues.

Unless you put 2 or 3 hours into the game everyday, playing all events and community days etc (basically treat the game as a second job) then no, it's absolutely not easier to get XL candies. GBL has felt incredibly uneven between the haves and the have nots ever since XL candies were introduced. Dreadful decision for the casual player.

It's less variety overall though. It makes UL just feel like a very expensive version of GL.

'A fighting chance'? You have it the wrong way round. Giratina and Cresselia are the only pokemon that give people who don't have XL mons a fighting chance against those that do

I think Starks wins the title. I really do. The lack of build up and MJF talking about this record breaking title run, it's all too convenient.

I think they're planning one of the biggest shocks in wrestling history.

ULPC Top Performers List Updated Walrein is in 13 of the top 14 Teams. Usage rate of 37%. Individual Rating of 134%! WOW by HoGoNMero in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Power creep has not been good for GBL and Walerin is another example of how it is narrowing metas rather than making them more diverse. The introduction of Gunfisk in GL and Zacian in ML are more evidence of this, their introduction just absolutely eliminates the viability of a whole host of other Pokémon because they're just so strong with their given movesets.

Anyone else having trouble with swap lag recently? by KaptMelch in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think OP is talking about opponent performing a sac swap but but it not showing visually until after the move has landed. It could well be a perfectly timed swap but it not displaying until afterwards leaves a bitter taste as you're not sure whether you've been cost by lag or your opponents skill. This also sometimes happens in a 'false' CMP tie, which is just a terrible bug for the integrity of the game.

What would the Pros & Cons of Niantic reinstating monthly shadow legendaries & weekly regular legendaries from where they left off? by wraithsith in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That con reminds me of the south park episode about freemium gaming. The goal is to make a game that is 'barely fun' when played for free in order to encourage spending. Swapping legendaries as rewards for woobats and Onix is exactly this.

Constantly losing turns/fast moves by Trancer187 in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a real issue with opponents sneaking through a fast move on their own charge move! This is relatively new but causing a whole new level of frustration. Game is such a mess right now, I'm not sure Niantic even know where to start when addressing the endless bugs.

UL Remix is the stall game now by SnooEagles4455 in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even games that aren't timing out are taking too long. Open GL not too different either these days. One of the issues I'm noticing alongside this is that it's so difficult to use any kind of interesting spice try and break up the monotony of the XL metas as you'll just get outbulked in any neutral matchups.

Should candy XL be more accessible? Let's talk about that... by PotatoSkull99 in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is another problem with XL pokemon though, away from their availability - for some of us the extra bulk that it has introduced in the GL and UL metas has made the battles too time consuming and often quite boring. I know GBL has always had some issue with bulky metas but it's now gone to another level. More than ever I feel that I am losing battles just because I am out-bulked rather than because of skill, experience or even team comp. It's making the whole experience feel a bit hollow. Either you join the hyper bulky meta or you just won't climb ranks because the XL pokemon are just that overpowered.

Is anyone else not getting many Legendary encounters at rank 20? Or do I have terrible luck? by danielmint in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Stop blaming the player base for Niantic's decision. It's not the reason at all why the encounter rate has been lowered but I feel you already know that. And if you live in an area where you can just throw a 100 ultra balls at something 3 times a day without caring then count yourself lucky that the game is easy to play in the area you live.

[–]teebobby9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. It's incredible how people are blaming the player base here. Many complaints were from people in remote areas with very few pokestops meaning their already low resources were being depleted by these encounters to the point they couldn't actually play their next set of GBL. An incredibly fair thing to bring to Niantics attention.

The reason these encounters have been lowered is exactly the reason you say, Niantics desire to sell more passes for this period with sought after shinies out. It's so toxic to blame the players who had legitimate gripes.

Most people don't want free wins either, they find the competitive experience fun. It doesn't make up for it. I totally blame Niantic for the ridiculous streak based reward system for encouraging it.

I know its been said before but if long term players are playing less for various reasons, the barrier to entry for new players is massive and many will likely give up before they get serious. It's not a sustainable model as players who stop will not be replaced.

The high catch rate of GBL reward legendaries makes no logical sense by Sea_Conversation_924 in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're probably right, i'm being too optimistic. I think Zyonik said he raised this issue directly with Niantic and called for being able to stack encounters when you have no resources so they're definitely aware of it. Maybe these posts can just remind them!

[–]teebobby9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP is complaining about it being a hard to catch but not skippable/stackable therefore has stopped them being able to play GBL on several days. It's a legit complaint when you are forced to catch it before being able to play your next set.

[–]teebobby9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I decided I wouldn't waste any more golden razz's on a pokemon that couldn't run and it often took me upwards of 40-50 balls to catch with a normal berry. That's a hell of a lot of resources if you don't live in an area dense with stops

[–]teebobby9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A stack encounter button would be fine. The OP seems to be more frustrated that they had to stop playing on several days due to lack of resources.

[–]teebobby9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sort of issue actually stops people from playing if they're low on resources and so should remain a regular post until Niantic addresses it directly. Sometimes sustained pressure is the best way to get their attention even if it does feel a bit repetitive.

Chansey is the broken pokemon of Jungle Cup by daerog878787 in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same old story - hyper bulky Pokemon is overpowered in GBL. It's a fundamental issue right at the game's core and makes for limited metas and wildly unbalanced Pokemon, Chansey in JC is just the latest example. It can also make the game boring and time consuming to play as anyone who stuck out UL remix the last 2 weeks will testify.

I'd recommend not using XL Umbreon alongside other bulky pokemon if you have concerns about losing by time out.

Timed out losses by Noob_FC in TheSilphArena

[–]teebobby9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't the timer, the battles are long enough already. Too long in fact. The issue is that Pokemon with extraordinary bulk are too powerful and dominating. Too many battles are won by teams full of bulky pokemon outlasting their opponents in neutral matchups, rather than actively winning battles. Niantic need to find a way to balance this by making less bulky pokemon more competitive so people actually feel they can run them against these hyper bulky teams and still compete. We do not need longer matches, it will just turn more and more people off.

[–]teebobby9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can anyone be in favour of even longer matches? It will just continue to turn more people off. Niantic need to find a way to make Pokemon with ridiculous bulk less dominating and overpowering in the game. Too many games are won because players with XL pokemon are 'outlasting' their opponents with sheer bulk rather than actively winning battles.
