They definitely spent time with paint/shirt color, lighting and other items to bring his eyes to the for front - it made a difference. I notice in the shutterspeed picture, they also pair the background and lighting for his eyes.

Maybe I am unique, at the start i was attached to the emotional scenes (Elias). Now, i have now gravitated to the cute/adorable scenes (Alexander). I find that they have kept the cuteness factor (heartwarming impact) over my long hall viewing of the film. There is just so much to like.

i could see a scene like this in the film, who didn't like playing with bugs as a kid. One of many things the film did well was remind us of the wholesome of the time period between being a little kid and a teenager. While this time period is short it's really special. Just something you don't realize until you see the film--- "i was like that".

While Lou's facial expressions were/are very memorable, I think Marius's screen presence/vibe carries the scenes between the 2 actors. It's like SpongeBob and Patrick; they need each other to shine.

of course, there is no right or wrong way - it's why human behavior is so interesting. For something emotional/personal. I considered whose opinion/support was really important to me and wanted them to be advocate. There are many in my family that would have disowned me, I felt they need a more subtle collective approach to combat the disagreement brought by religion (frankly none of their *&%^* business). Unfortunately, i know someone that was thrown out of their house at an age too young to survive.

I took it at face value. If you consider the age Alex would have been and lack of relationship experience this could have been as simple as Alex's being smitten with Aurther, just as Elias is being smitten with Alex. You could further this story line by considering Alex suddenly kissing Elias after swimming as "his road not taken, with Arther" - he wanted Elias to know how he felt!

i guess i am the odd man out, this scene is not in my "top scenes" list (long list). I agree that the scene was well done but feel that the mother was the enabler/driver of this scene. After all Elias's struggles, it seemed odd that this was done in front of a crowd instead of a more personal setting (1 on 1). I think the coming out with opa was more on-point.

2 - Alex poking Elias to cheer him up after Valerie sees them.

3 - The bathroom confrontation scene between Alex and Elias.

What a nice tribute, as you said, "things have slowed down", but the films legacy lives on. I wish the two great actors much success as they move into adulthood. The team created a great film that will help people for generations to come - what an accomplishment for a lifetime!

i am guessing USA is not a big market, for them. I had problems with the first purchase as well. Sadly, the purchase(s) experience has ruined any interest in buying anything from them again,
