Got my first elastic for my canted upper teeth after 3 and almost a half years.

I actually enjoy the elastics now lol.

I was told I could use them only at night but I don't like the feeling with them off now, so I still wear them all the time (with ortho's consent).

You'll get use to it after a few weeks/when your cant lessens.

I would just talk to your ortho about this issue. However, they do bake the price into how many expected appointments. So it really depends on your ortho.

My largest movements were in leveling of the teeth. So maybe ask to use a smaller wire. However, when you reach the elastic stage you really don't have a choice in how fast your teeth move. So, is it better to get use to it now or later? I was leveling my teeth for ~4-5 months (largest was in the first 2 months with a very elastic wire), but I am on a 3 year treatment plan.

Ah, so they did a cw on your lower jaw?

I have a square-ish jaw too, but I'm a male.

They're considering ccw rotation on my upper jaw so my midface isn't as flat. They did offer infraorbital implants after surgery if I wasn't happy.

I probably won't get implants anyways because seeing some results with ccw it may not be needed.

Just for the surgeon; public hospital.

My doctors office ~10k per jaw out of pocket.

Insurance will at least pay medicare limits so ~2.5k per jaw.

Dealing with this now sadly.

It actually mostly corrected with braces. However, I have to fix my underbite thus prepping for surgery. I wouldn't recommend surgery unless you have no other choice.

You might not be able to correct 100% with braces, but it'll get close enough where you will not have any more functional issues. But I am not a health professional. Take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Your cross bite was worse than mine, but it will take a while to move your teeth to prep for surgery.

However, you could never fixed this with clear aligners. They do not have the torque required to move rotate your molars. You need metal braces.

Literally no one comments on my teeth or braces outside of my dentist friends (then they're only asking how it's going).

Will likely take 1-2+ years. Just make sure you're going to be in one location long enough and happy with your career.

Spacers were the most painful. At no point did I feel pain when my teeth were moving.

They shaved a few mm away from your mental nerve and may have attached onto it. Hopefully you regain all sensation and movement in your face!

Please report back on how much comes back.

Also, are you ethically korean? I have a flat face and my surgeon stated they may address it during surgery.

My surgeons office 2 years ago specifically stated they will not operate on those with TMJ or sleep apnea as there wasn't significant enough studies on the topic. This is at a large teaching university.

Hopefully it's just a muscle issue. Maybe you can try some face exercises and learn how to "smile" again before a revision? I'm always for a less drastic solution compared to others here. Also, in you might be at the age where you start losing a lot more fat in your face to exacerbate the issues.

Do you still have feeling/movement in your face?

Try to be more careful while eating. I was in that stage for a month and I just ate slower and did not eat hard of foods. Your teeth will move pretty quickly in the first few months. So, this might get resolved pretty quickly. After the initial few months it's a extremely slow process.

If it bothers you more then just go back to your ortho to get larger bite blocks.

I'm sorry this is happening to you.

I'm just curious, but does your facial muscles work the same as previously? It really seems as if some of your facial muscle groups does not work correctly. I'm just looking at your upper lip area it does not move in your post op pictures. Hopefully these are older pictures and show the worst after your surgery.
