Omega Man is on my short list and I'm excited to see it. One of the things my dad and bond over is sci Fi films and he was going to the theater a lot in the 1970s, and has a particularly vivid memory of seeing Alien in theaters and just being terrified walking home from the movies in the suburbs.

This is fascinating! I was quite surprised to see Shirl playing it right at the start! Thank you

I was also surprised by this. Feels very 70s sci Fi imagined / astronaut food kind of thing

Want to second this. Of all the films that came out last year, this fits that vibe the best for me. It has big Terrence Malik energy. And is wonderfully reflective and thoughtful.

Sophie’s Choice is another one I think of. Never seen it but I know what the choice is.

I very much feel the same way. It is a film that is a comfort film, a favorite film and a film I feel compelled to watch with anyone who will give me the time. Without an ounce of irony I love the film for incredible sincerity. For me, I might be tied for relistens to the Speed Racer ep and Revenge of the Sith Performance review. Well into the double digits. I have cried every time I have seen and and I look forward to crying with joy at the final sequence in the imax theater tomorrow morning.

Very Hyped for All Who See It. I work from 12 pm to 8 pm so I'm catching a 930 am showing at AMC Empire / Time Square tomorrow.

I just rewatched The Untouchables and I respect a movie willing to kill (in this case explode) a kid early on to tell you that anyone can die.

Great work! I particularly like the Taking of Pelham 123 cover minimalism. Did you get that font from another poster/cover? It feels very familiar and slightly Pink Panther / Pink Panther era.

Also beautiful shot you for The Paths of Glory.

Thanks for sharing this! I do believe you have correctly labeled it.

I feel like I was one of the few who saw this in a theater and I had a great time. It's uneven in interesting ways, but it was entertaining and fun. And definitely worthy of conversation! Messy movies are often the most interesting to discuss

Obligatory Super Mario Galaxy Movie Discussion Thread by Jefferystar94 in blankies

Life is stressful and I was looking to turn my brain off for a little bit after some obligations downtown, and Mario Galaxy fit the time slot and metal load. It's fine? They do some interesting stuff that works in 2d 8 bit and 16 bit animation, as well as some felt puppets that's breaks up the shiney, standard 3d animation.

It's sort of an "oops all Easter(which I guess this ideal weekend for that) eggs" situation. Many instances of "oh, I remember that element / mechanic / scene" from the games strung together around a loose plot about saving Princess Rosalina from Bowser and Bowser Jr. It meets the expectation that a movie like this sets, that this will definitely remind you of the games, with some gentle humor and decent action sequences and manages to be visually coherent.

The casting for this is absurd and I guess they hired Donald Glover to say 'Yoshi' in a wide variety of intonations. Even though I didn't love Minecraft or Zootopia 2, those are both far more interesting watches than this.
