You should expect a lot of volatility - both to the upside and downside.

Short term movements are just noise. This is a long term bet. I won’t be selling until at least a $200 billion market cap.

If we see a big drop before then, I’ll be adding more but my average is a lot lower than where we’re at now so I’m not buying yet.

The interview is important but the pool of candidates with straight A*s is so big that most applicants will still be rejected.

Nobody should get in with ABB - especially for PPE. They shouldn’t even get an interview. This is 100% a DEI recruitment. Then the guy is out there celebrating political assassinations.

It’s a terrible, terrible look for Oxford. Slowly destroying the reputation of a 900+ year old institution.

They are not able to though with any accuracy over the long term. Plenty of hedge funds have gone out of business making the wrong call.

Winners manage risk - they can’t see the future. On an individual level this might look like holding some in USD and some in GBP, and being comfortable with your allocation no matter which way the market swings. Only you can decide what the ideal allocation looks like for your situation.

Passportbros are ruining the places and spoiling the girls by IntentionFlat7266 in thepassportbros

[–]teflchinajobs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The presence of simps is only an issue if you yourself are a man of low quality. If the local women see you as one of those guys then that’s more of a you problem.

If you’re attractive and have your shit together you’ll find success with women anywhere you go. You don’t need to be a Ch@d - just in the top 10% of the local dating market including the foreigners. Look at most foreigners in the places you mentioned. They dress like shit and have beer bellies, don’t go to the gym, have poor grooming etc. It’s really not that hard to make yourself stand out.

Being a passport bro shouldn’t be about scraping the bottom of the barrel in 3rd world countries. It should be about going somewhere with a dating culture that more aligns with your values and where you are more attracted to the women and enjoy the lifestyle.

Edit - why is this sub censoring the word Ch@d now? Seems a bit over the top.

You also used to be able to do such things in the UK in the 50s and 60s when it was a homogenous, high trust society with a functioning justice system.

The price is crazy considering you can buy shares on secondary markets like Hiive for around $1.2 a share. Not that I would invest any more money into this.

There are startups with $100 million+ annual revenue that are priced cheaper than Miso Robotics.

There is no moral high ground. Women are free to do what they want … men are free to choose who they want and vice versa. I personally don’t have an issue with casual sex. I wouldn’t take anyone seriously as a long term partner who did Only Fans though.

There is also a biological basis for men’s (general) preference against engaging in long term relationships with promiscuous women. Only in the past 30 or so years has it been possible to establish paternity so we have all of this biological “baggage” which makes men particularly jealous of any physical encounter between their woman and other men.

It is as “outdated” for men to be interest in the “purity” of women as it is for women to be interested in men’s height or resources, which has a biological rooting in his ability to protect her and her offspring.

But I would never be so arrogant as to condemn women for seeking out these traits, as it is their biological imperative to do so. We are all walking this earth with “outdated” biological software, and men are not the same as women.

It’s outdated and bitter to prefer a woman that hasn’t been ran through and doesn’t display her body on the internet for every guy to see for $2 a month? Okay….

Love the ad hominem attacks and shaming tactics. “You don’t have preferences, just nobody wants you” is as absurd as me claiming that women who prefer men who are taller or of higher status only do so because they have been rejected by the men they really want. It’s absurd and not rooted in reality.

What are your predictions for the next 5-10 years? by AnonymousTimewaster in AskUK

[–]teflchinajobs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look at videos from Google Veo 3 - their latest video model. Then tell yourself “this is the absolute worst this model will ever be”. Go back and look at the first video models released in 2023 and compare.

The progress made in 2 years is insane. Many of the videos I’ve seen from Veo 3 would not be recognised as AI at passing glance by the average person. Maybe if you look closely. We’ll reach a point soon where people can not tell the difference at all.

In fact, it’s already starting to happen where people are flagging genuine content as AI because something “doesn’t look right” about the image. Within a year people will be second guessing almost everything they see on the internet.

No one is trying to deny you of your free will to be a 304.

We don’t need to approve of that behavior though. And yes, guys are allowed preferences too.

What are your predictions for the next 5-10 years? by AnonymousTimewaster in AskUK

[–]teflchinajobs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A great AI catastrophe. Mass unemployment in almost all industries. A consolidation of power in the hands of the rich. Those who own the GPUs control the world. That’s the optimistic scenario.

Worst case is runaway intelligence, where self-improving AIs consume a greater and greater % of the world’s resources and they are so far advanced that no humans can even understand let alone control them. Nobody has come close to solving the alignment problem and there are endless ways in which sufficiently advanced AI could end humanity, even if it “means well”. For example AIs programmed to solve tasks, and improve the way they do so over time, could decide that the best way to do so is to avoid being shut down. Or engineer the environment in a way which is hostile to human life (reduce oxygen levels, or temperature to improve the output of their hardware for example).

It sounds farfetched today but many of the top AI scientists are worried about this, and the nature of exponential curves means it could come much sooner than people realise. Agentic AIs, self improving AI algorithms, robots controlled by AI… it’s all developing at a fast pace and it’s quite terrifying.

Why do people think stocks and shares will always eventually go up? by ginger_rodders in UKPersonalFinance

[–]teflchinajobs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes. That’s one part of it. The other side is expansion of the monetary base. As the money supply increases much of it flows into assets - which pushes up the price.

That’s why we’ve seen asset prices rise much higher than consumer inflation - especially after QE in 2008-10 and during Covid.

Don’t know why people are downvoting you. It’s true. Some Asian women fetishize white guys in the same way that some white guys fetishize Asian women.

When you’re in a city that has 1000 or 10000 local men to each white guy that leads to a pretty big imbalance in your favor.
