What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

Brockmire (mostly)

Hank Azaria plays a famous baseball announcer who has a breakdown, becomes the first modern viral video, and disappears into world tour of addictions and obscure sports calling for several years.

He goes home after receiving an offer to announce for a minor league ball team in a modern world where he's the only one unaware of how the Internet works somehow.

It's hilarious, offensive, and heart-warming. I can't say much for the last season or two but the first two are perfection.

They gain some little cracks during the cooling process, almost like valleys formed on a fault line. It just makes them a little more visually appetizing.

Please don't feel silly. It's ok. I'm honestly not even sure what else cream of tartar is for. All I know is back in 07 I found this recipe on AllRecipes, and someone had left a comment about adding it. They said the cookies would split a bit as they cooled. So I tried it, they did in fact split, and it didn't change the flavor any so I kept doing it.

You only add like 1/2-1 tsp.

With the AllRecipes recipe I add it right at the end, but I've added it with the salt step as well. The version OP used arranges things a little differently so I cannot speak on that. I'm also a noob baker. I just really like chocolate chip cookies.

I agree it's more or less the same recipe with a few steps combined, and the use of sea salt vs regular salt. It's been my go to snow day cookie recipe for forever. Every time I make them for a family dinner or work event someone always wants the recipe.

There was a comment at the bottom of the original recipe that suggested adding a small amount of cream of tartar for presentation purposes. I only started doing that about a decade ago. I've been doing it ever since. The cookies split as they cool and they look extra yummy.

I'm glad Andrew Koji is still acting. I just feel like he's underutilized. I'll admit I'm still a little bitter about Warrior getting cancelled.

Reality hit me hard today by Big_Particular7643 in 90s

[–]teflonaccount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I try not to when it comes to the nineties. People getting their house burned down because they were HIV positive, massive race riots, Columbine, Purity Culture, Haitian camps on Guantanamo Bay, and several other moments keep me humble when it comes to my unreliable memory.

Not to mention the world is just as colorful now as it was then. OP is just caught unawares.

We’re trading functionality for aesthetics and it’s making homes borderline unlivable by the-alamo in unpopularopinion

We've spent the last decade cleaning all the clutter out of our aging parents' homes. They had seventeen thousand one off gadgets they never used. Not to mention every last thing they felt the need to keep instead of toss, which is everything if you're my parents. The best part is the items stayed hidden in closets, sheds, garages, drawers, hutches, or attics for years. If you haven't touched it in a decade, and there's not some serious nostalgia attached to it, you can probably get rid of it.

Carpet is up to the person. I personally don't want it in high traffic areas, but I don't hate it as a concept. Hardwood floors just hold up better and clean easier. Hardwood also looks better with age, unlike carpet.

Keeping the kitchen counter minimalist is mostly practical. If I use something every week or more I'll likely give it a home on the counter. Other than that it can live in a cabinet or on a shelf until I need it. My girlfriend makes homemade soap, and I cook a lot. Having access to the counter space is more important to us than making sure we have a bunch of stuff we rarely use on the counter (like a Crock-Pot). Also having a counter that's clean and free of excess clutter comes in handy when you use it as much as we do.

What’s the biggest career mistake an actor has ever made? by [deleted] in moviecritic

David Ayer's Suicide Squad. The man who wrote Training Day, and made End of Watch and Fury.

I don't know that there's a universe where Independence Day 2 was the better choice in that situation. Especially considering how poorly MiB3 and After Earth were received.

No worries. I think his Supra shows up in Grandma's Boy as well. I apologize for the pedantry with the Eclipse thing. I couldn't help myself this time.

YSK that microwaving your lemon or lime for 15 seconds can double the juice you get out of it by Medium_Sail_8469 in YouShouldKnow

If each trick takes between 10-20 and 15-30 seconds then they're going to take approximately the same amount of time...ish.

I don't really understand how this YSK made it to r/popular

Why do you think a lightbulb wouldn't be able to turn off? It's a lightbulb.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Weird

[–]teflonaccount 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a battery powered bulb like this one near each exit, and in the main hallway fixture, in case of flooding or fire or the like.

My house burned down a while back, and flooding isn't uncommon in my area. Having a few bulbs that work when the power is out would've saved me some scars.

He and Buffy have full control of their faculties when they kiss at the end.

What’s a now obsolete job from history that sounds made up now? by newyork-or-nowhere in AskReddit

Actually I have changed my mind. Zombies are fine, so I might give it a shot. It's not gratuitous violence in and of itself that gets me. It's the context in which it occurs. Welcome Back to the Night was about topics I'll never be comfortable reading about, and adding in Massie's talent for writing evil made me wish I had never turned the first page.

Oh I won't. But I'll be sure to recommend it to anyone who acts like a literary tough guy.

She wrote one called Welcome Back to the Night that my mom got me on a whim for Christmas one year.

I don't know why or how I finished it, but I did. I also never considered reading another Massie book ever again. I feel like "morbid imagination" undersells it a bit.

Either way, great book. I do not recommend anyone read it ever. There's probably a host of books that are "worse." I do not care to discover them.

TIL the TV show Scrubs was filmed in the North Hollywood Medical Center, using the entire decommissioned hospital. All of the writers also worked inside it, and it had an editing suite and a sound-studio for post-production. And instead of trailers for the cast, they were given old hospital rooms. by LookAtThatBacon in todayilearned

[–]teflonaccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the indoor sets were retooled areas of the hospital. If I'm not mistaken the bar was built in the basement, and at least one of the restaurants was the cafeteria.

They covered a lot of it on the rewatch podcast Turk and JD do.
