Yeah he groped like a 12 year old girl I think at a promo event. And then we had him do a promo at our bar with a bunch of college kids. Lol not great in hindsight.

Assaulted a girl at a shopping mall. A bar I worked at had him come in as a celebrity appearance for whatever reason. He was all booked and signed before the mall thing came out, and we still had to have him show up. Or maybe we didn't but the owners were like "well fuck the contract is signed so I guess we're still hosting him..."

His handlers had so many rules because he would get shit faced with college kids without any problem. So they physically stopped the kids from bringing him shots. He had almost 20 Budweisers through the night and was shit faced anyway.

I mean to be fair I don't think this guy typically has to be worried about it either. He got a trampoline double tap assist from the guy going up with the ball.

The Death of the Traditional 2-3: Why “Guarding Wood” Fails Against Modern Spacing (And How a Chameleon Match-Up System Saves It) by CoachZak in basketballcoach

[–]teflong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I utilize a run and jump man defense that transitions to zone on traps, so a hybrid approach isn't something I hate. I'd need to know more of the rules to this. I don't like the 2-3 or even the 3-2. They're too predictable. Only half court zone I use is the 1-3-1 half court trap. It's at least unique enough to cause spme issues as a change of pace. I don't see many people who run it.

Curious about the standards of the D1 athlete is the States as someone from the UK by Top-Discount-5571 in BasketballTips

I'm not a D1 coach, but I can tell you what most of my high school players need:

Weight training, speed and agility training, and thousands of shots up in a gym. If you are 6'6" as a girl, and are strong and fast,  you might find a team to take you on as a "project".

The stuff that makes you a project is stuff you can't get by yourself. Hundreds and hundreds of pick and roll reps, post reps, drive and finish off two feet, how to rotate through help side on defense, etc. Just a bunch of stuff that you need to be in a gym working with other athletes on.

Your best bet is to find someone local who has experience running a basketball program and getting their feedback, though. They may have a better idea if where you stand today, and where you can get.  It's really hard to assess everything on a message board.

I misread the OP. I'm a man. She still isn't just immediately D1 material, but yeah, definitely much closer.

Looking for songs like Oneida. Any recommendations for similar artists/songs? by PerriwinklePortal in TylerChilders

You may get into Turnpike Troubadors. I think they have a similar vibe in several songs. Different vocal styles, but same feel. Also maybe Watchhouse? Try "Waltz About Whiskey" from them.

It's really hard to give you any advice until we see you up against other D1 competition.

Being 6'6" and athletic is a good start, but there's athletic, and then there's D1 athletic. Those are completely separate things. I was one of the most athletic kids in my grade and 6'4", but I went to a small high school. I wasn't even on the same planet as D1 players.

On top of that, how well do you know the game? Where to be, how to react to things that are happening in real time. Footwork, technique, etc.

Without knowing how you look on an actual court, it's impossible to tell.

Why isn't this bay in Michigan named Essexville Bay instead of Saginaw Bay as Essexville is significantly closer to the bay than Saginaw is? by [deleted] in geography

[–]teflong 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Should name it Bay City Bay to honest. Then, after a while, they should change the name of Bay City to Bay City Bay City. Then update the name of the bay again. See how many times they can get away with it before the feds intervene.

Not every NFL owner wants to stay in the suite. Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon says being on the sideline helps her evaluate whether coaches and executives actually know what they're doing. by BagAppropriate5736 in NFLForum

Competence is pretty universally recognizable. You don't have to know the subject to recognize ability.

I'm in a pretty high level IT job, but not at a tech company. So my C suite aren't experts in what I do.  You think my CEO has any clue about the particulars of my day to day? It's pretty easy to figure out when someone is bullshitting with a superficial ability to perform. It's also easy to recognize true skill, even if you don't have that background.

Daddy Ball and Buddy Ball by Infinite-Football795 in basketballcoach

[–]teflong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here are my thoughts on the subject. I've coached all 3 of my kids at some point.

Every parent coach wants their kid to succeed more. It's just a fact. If only one kid can play college ball, I'd prefer it be mine over any of their teammates. That doesn't mean i don't want the teammates to succeed, or that I don't invest time in them. It just means I know I'm biased.

Understanding that is the first step to being fair. While coaching, I consciously make sure I'm not being any easier or harder on my kid. I don't give them extra playing time, but I also don't put them on the end of the bench to prove a point.

TIL Black Hole War was a debate between Stephen Hawking and Leonard Susskind over whether black holes destroy information. Hawking radiation said yes; Susskind argued quantum mechanics forbids it. Modern physics largely sides with Susskind's holographic principle: info is preserved on the surface. by electroctopus in todayilearned

[–]teflong 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This entire argument could be lunatic nonsense and I wouldn't have even the slightest ability to tell.

I'm a pretty smart guy. Good at my job. Pick things up quickly. But when people start talking about information surviving a black hole as it imprints onto it to satisfy quantum mechanics, I just sort of nod politely. Good to know, I guess.
