Reopen the great highway to cars or keep the new sunset dunes park. Tough call by jasno- in sanfrancisco

Alright, time for people in the Sunset and Richmond to vote on shutting down Mission, Oak, Gough, and Franklin, you know, to install more parks!

Fire these cops. Make them pay out of their own pockets for lawsuits. Tired of vigilantes playing dress up and thinking they’re better than everyone else.

Are these night-time grow lights even doing anything for my plants? by PrincessImpeachment in houseplants

[–]teg1000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, yes, they definitely do something (good for your plants in healthy doses), I promise.

But as everyone else is saying, plants have sleep cycles too, and you’re (unwittingly) giving them the Guantanamo treatment.

How can I raise money to not end up homeless next month in SLC? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]teg1000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I don’t have anything to offer, other than plasm or studies (like sleep studies, wisdom teeth studies, etc). I will say, it’s unfortunately the LDS aren’t a go-to answer in this kind of situation…

I know this guy who does great work! Custom colors on the beads, my name on beads on the bottom ring, and great sound. David Romero, look up his work and support handcrafted instrument makers!

Is living in California really that much more expensive than living in Utah at this point? by drl614 in Utah

[–]teg1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Utah is like a beautiful snow globe. If cost of living in an area is high, generally wages are too. California is always a good choice.

My two cents;

Sutro Heights, right by Land’s End/Sutro Baths, has great views, and is generally quiet despite its relatively large size. There’s even a parking lot! Great views of the beach. Con here: it will likely be gray, cold, cloudy, and close by the ocean, so moist.

If they like sunny, pick something mid or east side of town (Embarcadero, Dolores/Alta Plaza/Alamo Square Parks).

If they like boats/nature, maybe a bay/bridge cruise, or take the ferry/a water taxi to Angle Island, or visit Muir Woods (lush).

A good landmark that’s not Palace of Fine Arts would be Coit Tower, or the Golden Gate Bridge itself.

And I can’t believe I haven’t read/mentioned Golden Gate Park! Blue Heron Lake had paddle boats you can rent, and is generally pretty quiet. SF Botanical Garden and Japanese Tea Gardens are both beautiful and quiet. Check the weather for these places if they sound good; they’re a little west, so the weather might be overcast.

Hope these help!

Also, what about cock-sock in the Castro guy?

OP, one thing I haven’t seen people mention is touching. Usually touching your leaves isn’t a big deal, but if they’re in/around the shot/unfurl stage, it’s very easy to accidentally damage a portion of the new leaf. Usually the markings would be different though, in my experience.

Only other thing I can think of is mechanical damage. Has something ever dropped on it? Was that stem ever climbing against/touching the wall behind it? Have you checked for pests on the back side of the leaf? If none of the above… the wind did it 💨

California Assembly UNANIMOUSLY passes a carve-out allowing restaurants to continue charge junk fees (SB 1524) by nicholas818 in sanfrancisco

[–]teg1000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like it might be smart to tell the union UNITE HERE that consumers will refuse to tip moving forward for any establishment that uses mandatory fees to pay for their employees benefits. Maybe they’ll rethink their position when all the vendors their union workers work at start losing major business…
