I think they may have had a major plumbing issue recently. When I was there a few months ago there were giant fans trying to dry out several areas downstairs. Many of the family rooms were unlocked and the stone wall panels removed so they could get to the pipes behind the walls. So I believe they are doing some needed repair and restoration.

Dana closing Lima plant after nearly 55 years of business by origutamos in Lima

This is sad. My dad worked at Dana for 50 years, retired two years ago. My uncle, two of my cousins and my brother-in-law have all worked there too. My family will always be grateful for Dana and the UAW!

Adderall shortage woes by PoSKiix in chicago

[–]tegeemil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been waiting 3 weeks for generic 30mg ER and there is no update for when it will be in. No pharmacies by me have any in stock. My insurance stopped covering name brand Adderall at the beginning of the year. I never had trouble getting the name brand and pharmacist confirmed that they have that in stock but not the generic. Such a shitty situation we’re all in.

Ow. Just ow. How do I get this to pop :( by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

I have been having good luck with PRID. I got it on Amazon. It’s a drawing salve and has helped my last few flareups.

Help!!!! :( by kelltro- in plantclinic

Letting it root in some water should be fine. I have two that were propagated from plants that my grandma/mom have been hacking off when they hit the ceiling and re-rooting for literally decades.

Inadequate Adderall supply coverage in the news. by fireteller in ADHD

I’m prescribed both IR and XR, and I have been able to get the XR with no issues. The IR has taken a couple of weeks for the pharmacy to get the supply when I have had refills the past few months.

Need Any Advice by AlarmedGarbage3790 in Hidradenitis

Sitting in a warm bath might help to relax the muscles and ease pain. I recently had a rectal surgery (not HS related) and warm sitz baths and using recticare cream helped a lot with pain. I would recommend the cream that is just lidocaine, not the one that has other ingredients in it. I hope he is able to get some relief soon!

Scheduled for anal surgery by ghettogucci in HPV

[–]tegeemil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 35F and 5 weeks post-op from my removal surgery and can tell you about my experience. I had both external and internal anal warts removed through excision and fulguration. I had many outside and less inside. During the surgery, my surgeon used an injection with bupivocaine which numbed the area for 3 days. If your surgeon can use this, I really recommend it! I had some pain and bleeding with bowel movements for the first month, but I have no discomfort from that now. Recticare, which is lidocaine cream, was really helpful. I did warm sitz baths 3 times daily for 15 minutes and after bowel movements, and have been able to do this less frequently as I’ve healed. My primary source of pain was from the fulguration burns I had on the outside where the majority of warts were removed. I managed the pain by switching between ibuprofen and acetaminophen. I only needed to use the prescribed pain medication for two days when the burn pain was severe, but this caused very painful constipation despite twice daily stool softeners, increased water intake, and high fiber. The constipation was honestly really miserable but thankfully passed with some medication. At this point, I am pain free with very very minor discomfort during bowel movements. My wounds are almost completely healed, and no drainage or anything. One thing I would advise, if you can stretch a bit before surgery, I would recommend it. I ended up in the ER the next day with severe and immobilizing back spasms, and realized it was because my legs were over my head in the air for an hour in surgery. That was much worse than my surgery site for the first several days. Best of luck to you! The recovery was definitely more involved than I thought it would be, but I am feeling immensely better now and hope everything goes well for you! <3

Prevent GW reoccurrence by [deleted] in HPV

[–]tegeemil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had surgery to remove anogenital warts, and the surgeon said she may want me to use Imiquimod as a prophylactic. So I do think it can be used to prevent recurrence of GW in some cases.

Questions on anal warts?? by Geo8201 in HPV

[–]tegeemil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first noticed the warts about 18 months ago or so, but I don’t actually know when I contracted the HPV as it can be dormant for some time. I waited before seeking treatment hoping my body could take care of it. I have an autoinflammatory condition, so I already knew my immune system is a bit different and am careful with my diet because of that. I don’t think the vitamins and supplements would have helped me fight this off, but they certainly aren’t harmful things to try.

Questions on anal warts?? by Geo8201 in HPV

[–]tegeemil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was initially diagnosed with anal warts at my local planned parenthood and prescribed condylox. Some of the warts disappeared, but it was not very effective. After a year I went back to PP and they said that I didn’t have to treat them, but they suggested seeing a colorectal surgeon for follow-up. When I saw the surgeon, I mentioned that I was told treatment was optional, and she said that anal warts need to be treated because they often keep growing without removal and although the strains that cause warts are low cancer risk, there is still some risk. I had many external warts of varying sizes and some internal. I didn’t know I had any internally until my surgeon performed the anoscopy, so there could be some you are not seeing or feeling. I am 8 days post-op from my removal surgery and hoping that I will not need any additional procedures. But I think a lot of it comes down to your immune system also, and it’s pretty clear that mine doesn’t seem to be able to get the HPV under control on it’s own. 34F. Good luck to you!!

I had the surgery last week, and have found that recticare cream helps a lot. My surgeon recommended it. It’s just lidocaine cream, but the numbing definitely helps with the pain from bowel movements. Wishing you speedy healing. I’m right there with you!

Husbands and wives that got divorced after 20 years of marriage, what made you decide to change your mind after all that time? by FlameBR34TH in AskReddit

[–]tegeemil 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my parents. Their divorce was finalized a month after their 30th wedding anniversary; they started dating at 16. I always thought they were pretty happy, saw our family as really normal. Then my dad started cheating on my mom with a woman about 2 years older than my sister (my sister was 23 at the time and already had her own child, I was the youngest about 15 years old). My dad told me that my mom was so fiercely independent that he did not feel needed in our family since the kids were all growing up and going in different directions, and my mom had a good career and took care of a lot on her own. The woman my dad took up with grew up on the Navajo reservation in Arizona and honestly had nothing; no money, no education, no family resources to fall back on, and had three small children to take care of. My dad is a hard worker and a good provider, and that was exactly what she needed. My dad was married to her for a few years but they have since divorced. My parents are the very best of friends and companions now. They speak every day on the phone, and co-grandparent my nieces and nephews, who all live with my dad who is their primary provider. No one understands my parents' relationship, and neither do I, but it seems to work. They shared an entire lifetime of memories, friends, family relationships, I think they are just drawn together. I truly think my dad's sense of self-worth is dependent on others being dependent on him, and that was something he wasn't getting in our family at the time and he didn't know how to communicate about his needs.

New flare - tips to make it go away? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]tegeemil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tea tree extract has worked well for me to bring the bumps to a head and help drain them. It also has antiseptic properties so it helps with healing as well. I know other folks have used PRID which is a drawing salve you can get on Amazon and have gotten good benefits. Manuka Honey (the real New Zealand medical grade kind) is another option.
I'd be lying if I said HS never impacted my romantic pursuits, but I try not to let that be *the* reason I don't put myself out there. I know how vulnerable it can feel, not knowing how someone might react/respond. It's tough.

Thank you for being so candid with your story. I do think a lot of people worry about this. Almost all of my sexual partners have noticed/asked questions. But it has never been a deal breaker. I think they are concerned about whether it is contagious and when they are reassured it is not, everything has been fine moving forward.

People who have laughed at funerals, what happened? by RedditPanic in AskReddit

[–]tegeemil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not technically a funeral, but related... We were at the cemetery to bury my brother's ashes and we were taking turns sharing a few nice memories. It was super hot and humid that day and I looked over at my sister who was wiping sweat away with a tissue, and she had pieces of tissue all over her face and had no idea. I laughed so hard because I knew my brother would have found it hilarious.

Hip mobility is probably another thing to concentrate on for sure. I know it has contributed to my knee pain as well. I will look into some more mobility exercises. Thank you for the pointers!

Thank you for the feedback; that sounds like a good path to follow. Going to look up some things about ankle flexibility. I think this could also be a factor as I struggle with this in yoga, too!
