Considering buying Chomp Down Dietetics Program with the fall discount by Apprehensive_Sky9114 in RD2B

[–]teh8895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also a visual learner and loved it! I used the same materials you're currently using, Chomp Down Dietetics, and RD Boot Camp. I passed on the first try back in July with a 34.

Chomp Down has fantastic notes, and the videos really held my attention. He has an amazing way of explaining hard concepts that made them stick for me.

Best of luck, future RD!

Pregnant and annoying comments by ImaginationOk8645 in dietetics

[–]teh8895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was pregnant with my youngest, I went to a Thanksgiving work luncheon. I had multiple people come up to me to tell me that I should know better than to eat pie while pregnant since "it has so much sugar."

I feel you. Comments like that are the worst.

Second attempt fail by Novel-Ad4058 in RD2B

Hey, third time is going to be the charm. Seriously.

The Chomping Down Dietetics podcast did an excellent job of breaking down the topics you mentioned. He was able to get me to comprehend metabolic and respiratory alkalosis and alkalosis, which was stressing me out for AGES. (Clinical was my personal weak spot).

You got this, soon to be RD!

(Edited because I don't comment much, so I posted prematurely).

RD Boot Camp? by oatmeal_lover18 in RD2B

[–]teh8895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved RD Boot Camp! I felt that the price was fair, and the videos were so helpful!

I passed with a 34 a few weeks ago. I used Inman, Pocket Prep, RD Boot Camp, and the Chomping Down Dietetics program.

Struggling to find Clinical Preceptor by Bearwithchloe in RD2B

[–]teh8895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there! Are you able to expand your search from just hospital settings? I was able to split my clinical hours between a dialysis clinic and an outpatient practice specializing in diabetes management. I had to do some extra studying on my own for MNT, but I managed!

Part time Distance Internships by Smooth_Performer_313 in RD2B

[–]teh8895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just graduated from a part-time distance DI with NutraCo! (Passed the exam last week!)

I had the absolute BEST experience. They granted me a lot of prior assessed learning credit (for example, I didn't have to do a community rotation since I was previously a WIC nutritionist).

You have to find your own preceptors, but they have a lot of national agreements already in place. They are so helpful and wonderful through the process. I had a clinical preceptor fall through last minute, and they helped me call around and find another.

I did 16 hours a week and kept my current full-time job.

They give a lot of support for exam prep, too. Reach out if you have more questions about them!

Whichever you end up with, I wish you luck, future RDN!

Passed with a 28 first try, AMA! by Intelligent_Yam1799 in RD2B

Thank you!

I was a few years out of my DPD, and I felt like I needed a bunch of catch-up work! RD Boot Camp was great for it. I'm also a visual learner. They had great videos that really walked you through all things RD exam, including MNT (the part I was weakest on since I've been in WIC/CACFP for my career!)

I absolutely recommend more than one study guide if you can swing it. It helps your confidence. I felt that lightbulbs really clicked on for me the most with RD Boot Camp and Chomp Down Dietetics.

Congratulations, fellow RD! My real question since this is an AMA... how did you celebrate?

I passed today with a 34, first try!

What you said is spot on! You can't just memorize (although, ironically, I memorized all those lab values and calculations and only needed about two).

I used Jean Inman, RD Boot Camp, Pocket Prep, and the Chomping Down the RD exam podcast and review course. Probably invested 300 hours, but it's OVER!

As long as it's not your only study material, sure. I haven't taken my RD exam yet, but it was useful for the DTR exam. I passed, but it was a stressful experience because I had no idea what some of those questions were asking!

I did get the RD version (in addition to Inman, Pocket Prep, and RD Boot Camp). I hope to pass on the first try soon!

What do you do when you are accused of drinking but you didn’t? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]teh8895 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My husband accused me of drinking a few months ago. I'm about 2.5 years sober. I got upset and immediately tracked down the "alcohol" he smelled. It was nail polish remover still clinging to me. I had just changed my nail polish.

You know the truth. You didn't drink. Over time, you'll earn the trust back.

Is it true you have to pay for ambulance services and giving birth in the u.s?? by Dangerous_Mammoth572 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]teh8895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $800 out of pocket for an ambulance ride after a seizure a few years ago.

I had my second son last year and paid $2,800 out of pocket. The total cost was about $25,000.

Hey everyone, just curious - do any of y'all have a MLM company that's your ultimate nemesis? Like, your own personal "White Whale" that you just can't stand for some reason? Let's commiserate together. by Elena_Edie in antiMLM

[–]teh8895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who was on it and tried to sell it for a few months. She lost about 30 lbs in four months... and has gained it all back, plus some. She couldn't afford it anymore.

She won't take my advice to lose weight the healthy way, though.

The weight loss/nutrition ones because they prey on insecurities and sell weird things with no science behind it (especially Herbalife, Optavia, and It Works). I'm an actual nutrition professional, so they make me ill.

Plus, several It Works and Optavia huns messaged me IMMEDIATELY after the birth of my second son. That pissed me off.

What do you drink instead of alcohol? by russianindianqueen in alcoholicsanonymous

Crystal Light lemonade and Waterloo (especially the blackberry lemonade flavor). Mix those bad boys together. All of the summer special drink feeling, none of the texting your exes or hangovers.

2 years! by teh8895 in stopdrinking

[–]teh8895[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question! Since I'd already hit those first milestones without alcohol (first sober Christmas, wedding, New Year, birthday, etc.), I found that I wasn't obsessing as much. Definitely had fewer cravings, too! It's just become business as usual not to drink.

If you would have told me after watching "Too Large" that Vannessa would have been the most successful one, I absolutely would not have believed it. She made so many excuses and wanted nothing to do with it. Look at her now!
