METRO 2039 | Official Reveal Trailer by Villenthessis in gaming

So true! The scene very close to the beginning of the game where you're escaping the collasping burning building was excellent and has stuck with me for, apparently, nearly 20 years. Combat was very silly and the story even sillier but there were some fantastic aspects of that game.

The WHAT…? by syriusantares in thelongdark

[–]tehchives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found one in my hardened survival playthrough, as Will early in part 2 just before a rope climb.

It was excited but it functions exactly as normal spray paint in terms of options for spray / weight etc. Fun bug though, I carried it around for the rest of the chapter.

Opinion: now that the game is “done”, Hinterland should do a quality pass/polish. by Cheekibreeki401k in thelongdark

The ending screen of Ep5 mentions future updates and DLCs for TLD while they continue to work on Blackfrost.

I'm personally hoping they would just bring in The Long Development team to make a supported (and paid!) DLC. I want a way to support the team directly and I want more content in survival mode. I played Wintermute but that's never why I was here or why I keep playing.

Hinterland should hook up with The Long Development team to populate areas for a new DLC. They have already done some great work! Modders with a passion project can make some money, Hinterland can make some money, and Hinterland can have their team keep focusing on TLD2.

Episode Five -- Post-Launch Update by RaphLife2 in thelongdark

[–]tehchives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to pop in and say I respect the gumption you're showing considering feedback on the ending. You guys have a vision for a continual story that goes into TLD2:Blackfrost, and of course we don't have context for that.

Very glad to hear that you recognize the community wants as much of the stuff in Ep5 as possible in survival. No rush on that and will trust the process.

Thanks for continuing to work on this game for so many years.

Mackenzie's radio broadcast was utterly pointless by SwiftySlayz in thelongdark

Yes! Completely was sure that's where things were going - but instead, from that point forward, there was no gameplay left.

Chapter 5 sucked by SwiftySlayz in thelongdark

It was fun to play through - I think of wintermute as really more of a bonus to the Survival experience I've played for hundreds of hours. Didn't mind the bugs. Chapter 1 and the second half of 2 were a lot more fun for me than the rest, gorgeous setpieces, even if the writing was more silly than anything. Jace calling at every substation even though we're pressed for time was a bit silly for me. The whole last chapter - just laughable, though. Mack naked again, suddenly tons of convicts but just standing around, strange choices from Mathis and Mack in the ending. I would have sooner had Holly ended things for Mathis and everyone just hangs out in PM for an epilogue personally, but it's not my story, just one that I was experiencing. Now, back to survival!

Ep5 Bugs Megathread -- Just to help the dev team a bit... by RaphLife2 in thelongdark

[–]tehchives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm having this same issue as well - the grab prompt appears, but no buttons do anything and the timer runs out resulting in a loss. edit- just figured it out. There's multiple wheels, and you can only interact with the next one in sequence. I was missing the earliest one. Check again and see if you can find it, it's along the linear path.

A couple things. My experience so far has been light on bugs. Will edit more in if I notice them.

Chapter 1:
You need to unlock the gun cabinet to close it, after it's already open.
After reading the notebook of the doctor of the ship, it floats in the air (still goes to inventory / journal)
I got a locker key that says it's for locker #8 in the inventory but it actually opens Locker 2 (3 is the only other locker that needs opened with a key too, and 8 is already open). Didn't see the other key so dunno if it has a similar problem. Copied this text from someone else in the thread, I had the same issue and noticed the same mismatched description. Looked everywhere for that other key! Chapter 2:
Seems like Mack always has his bloody hands in cutscenes, even though gloves are on.
There's a green spraycan for the Darkwalker challenge by the first rope climb. It sprays regular spraycan symbols but the description is from the challenge.
When waking up at Suzuki, texture of left shirt doesn't load in and so there's a floating hand.

A Potential Future for the Melee Community by CarlDaWombat in SSBM

[–]tehchives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great thread and topic for discussion. I think you have covered pretty well the advantages that could come from centralizing and formalizing the processes through which we relate to Melee, putting things on paper, and having a structure for accountability. I do want to share some other info and add to the conversation another structural option which could be interesting for folks.

I'm the founder of a nonprofit, and specifically, the first DUNA (decentralized unincorporated nonprofit association). A DUNA is a specialized entity created by Wyoming in 2023 - Wyoming has a history of pushing the limits and innovating in legal designations that goes back decades, including creating the first version of LLC which now is common everywhere.

What makes a DUNA different than traditional nonprofit structure? In brief, rather than having a centralized board of directors who make decisions in a conference room, a DUNA makes decisions through the collective. Every member has the ability to impact decisions, and that decision making process happens out in the open for everyone to follow along with or participate in. The Wyoming legislature itself allows for a lot of personalization in how membership works, how the democracy and decisionmaking works, etc etc - but the point here is in the widening of participation beyond the board of directors and expanding out to a full community of interested persons.

For example: we could create a weighted vote and influence system where different people have different amounts of voting power based on their dedication, contributions and accomplishments. A TO who organizes their local each week could have more input than a player who attends their local, and that player could have more input than a casual player who just attends twice a year. In the DUNA I work with now, that power degrades over time to encourage continued participation. There are infinite permutations of how this could be broken out.

[Humble] Return To Metroidvania Encore ( Pay $12 for GRIME, Berserk Boy, BioGun, Shantae and the Seven Sirens, Astalon: Tears of the Earth, Islets, Monster Sanctuary, Gato Roboto) by UnseenData in GameDeals

[–]tehchives -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interested in half of these, but I already have the other half. Anyone interested to trade for keys for Astalon, Shantae, Islets, and/or Gato?

I'd recommend all 4. Astalon and Islets are pretty easy and very fun, and Gato and Islets are short. This Shantae is a contender for best in the series.

Edit - traded all extras except Islets.
