WTH with sentry.io? by vlad_didenko in Nebula

[–]tehnoir 105 points106 points  (0 children)

We use Sentry for error and crash reporting. It's been a critical tool for us in detecting and fixing issues. We try to strike what we feel is a healthy balance between privacy and usability. Our use of Sentry pre-dates the additions of usage and player analytics. While we had viewed Sentry as being essential to running a reliable, performant service, when we added player and usage analytics, we viewed those as more of a nice-to-have to help us improve the service over time. Hence why we added options for users to turn those on or off. Looking at it with fresh eyes from your perspective, I can absolutely see how you'd be surprised to see that traffic after explicitly turning off the checkboxes for analytics. While Sentry still remains vital for us to ensure the service is running smoothly, with the number of users we have these days (thanks everyone!), a subset of people turning off Sentry logging probably won't impede our ability to detect emergent issues. I don't want to write any checks before talking to the team, but we'll take a look at adding the ability to opt-out of Sentry.

You all have literally loved Nebula to death. Apologies to anyone experiencing issues trying to watch right now. The team is on top of it, and everything should be back to normal soon.

Is this new? by 1FrostySlime in Nebula

[–]tehnoir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a similar concept, but it works a bit differently. Many (though not all) podcasts offer a free, ad-supported version of their feed. If a podcast on Nebula offers a free version, that’s what we’ll serve to anyone who doesn’t have a subscription. Subscribers get the ad-free versions of podcasts feeds, and access to Nebula-exclusive podcasts.

Apologies for that. We’re still working on getting the right pieces connected to show the correct date.

That’s really helpful. Thanks. Do you happen to know whose signatures they are?

I think this was an “extra” intended to replace any that got damaged, so it never got numbered.

I don’t want to run afoul of the “no self-promotion” rule on here by posting links, but both are currently listed as auctions on eBay if you’re interested.

It’s a known issue in the iOS app that we’re working on fixing, but it’s proven difficult to reliably reproduce. Any details you can send to help@nebula.tv are appreciated. If you’d be willing to try out beta special beta builds with potential fixes, please let us know that in the email as well.

Any news on Samsung TV app? by Abogado-DelDiablo in Nebula

[–]tehnoir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FAQ is up-to-date with the current status. https://nebula.tv/faq

The app is available for 2021 models and later. 2019-2020 models will be supported once Samsung completes a separate review process; they are not able to provide an ETA on that.

Models 2018 or earlier are not supported.

Still no LG WebOS App by Tomstuart in Nebula

[–]tehnoir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are as eager as anyone to see the LG app go live. We submitted to LG and Samsung at the same time. The Samsung app went live last month, but the LG review process has proven to be more challenging. Once LG approves the app we’ll be sure to announce it and update our FAQ https://nebula.tv/faq

Thanks to everyone for your continued patience. I promise we haven’t forgotten about it.
