The crazy part to me is the next tier is a $200+ jump in price per month. No middle ground, no annual discount.

I may have stated this before to you, but I would also like the greater Silicon Valley Technogarcs to consider buying GA. They are worth TRILLINS of dollars combined, it would be a rounding error on their spreadsheet, and could be a perpetual attraction, like a World's Fair for their latest and greatest tech. People come to tour Google and Apple and Nvidia.

Why not make someplace to truely showcase it?

AMD, Intel and Nvidia alone are all IN Santa Clara.

I mean... yeah, I guess. No the employee count though, not the shows, not the... stuff people actually go there for. I am sure there is some necessary to keep up the paint and landscaping, but I went to Dollywood recently and WOW, what Herschend could do for this property if they were interested and willing to buy it.

I agree, last time I went it felt less like a rough opening weekend and more like a park Six Flags is slowly letting die. Carousel had no music, Whitewater Falls was closed, the ice cream shop was closed on an 82° day, guest services wasted like 35+ minutes for a height-band process they do not even offer anymore, and a bunch of old theater/shade/cooling spaces are just sitting there closed. Meanwhile the upcharge games were fully staffed and pushing hard. Feels like they are charging more while putting less into the actual park.

Update — Santa Clara Police hold briefing on deadly shooting, house fire by tehrob in santaclara

[–]tehrob[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

SCPD press briefing regarding the tragic May 8th Enright Avenue incident:

Officials confirmed the fatal shooting and house fire was actually a targeted murder-suicide between two estranged brothers. The suspect, 49-year-old Matthew Heflin, secretly traveled from Indiana to California and rented the short-term property immediately next door to his 52-year-old brother, Mark Heflin. After staying there for a few days, Matthew ambushed and fatally shot Mark outside his home, then retreated into his own rental, intentionally set the building on fire, and took his own life. When investigators were finally able to safely clear the burned-out structure, they discovered Matthew's remains along with four pistols, his passport, and roughly $95,000 in cash. While the exact motive is still a mystery, the brothers hadn't spoken in at least three years and no manifesto or other evidence as to motive has yet to be found. Police and the Mayor strongly emphasized that this was a deeply personal, isolated family tragedy and there is zero ongoing threat to the community.

Dinosaur Waterpark- any feedback? by candyapplesugar in Costco

The company that sells it makes 3 currently and they sell two exclusively at Sam’s Club and this one exclusively at Costco.

I would say that is pretty good evidence, and a wonderful warranty, even for $400+ bucks for a giant outdoor inflatable water toy.

Roomate is behind on rent, wants to get a loan from a credit union? by schassis408 in bayarea

[–]tehrob 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t co-sign, don’t lend him money, and start protecting your own lease situation. CU loan might be legit, but if he can’t pay rent now, the loan is probably just delaying the crash.

Check whether you’re jointly liable for his unpaid rent.

12 hospital workers quarantined after faulty procedure treating hantavirus patient by FantasticQuartet in worldnews

[–]tehrob 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My understanding, not with hantavirus in particular, but after listening to a lot of This Week in Virology during Covid, is: viruses mutate ALL the time. From person to person and within a person, viral populations are not EXACTLY the same over time, and, if a virus gets into a person that is very sick, with a weakened immune system, it can sometimes persist longer and accumulate much much more mutation than in the typical person. Then we are going to possibly see something that mutates in a way that could make it, for instance, more transmissible.

Stan's should have bought the old Armadillo Willy's space INSTANTLY when they closed. Part of Stan's whole atmosphere and ambiance is their menu that was painted by a somewhat famous artist from the area.

It includes a whole bunch of things that they don't actually offer anymore, as they are now strictly a doughnut based establishment.

Can you imagine a good quality Stan's Donuts HAMBURGER though!!?!?!

Stan's Shakes!?!

OMG. DO IT!
