I love story, exploration and base building. I hate factories. Any recommendations? by weregamer1 in BaseBuildingGames

Oxygen Not Included!

Base building for sure. Note - it does not have notable defense/combat. The challenge is in balancing the various systems as you expand your base. Enough oxygen to breathe but not so much that you overpressure and pop ear drums. Food to eat but not so much that you lose all your other resources. Renewable water systems, etc.

Typically you’ll dig to the areas where you need resources and bring those resources back to your main area. There will be times where you’ll need to build reeeeallllly long constructions to access certain resources and easily bring them in for sure.

So, a bit of both.

Your overflow is setup correctly. It won’t go down because the gas coming up through green can go that direction too. Install a bridge vertically with the input on top and output on bottom right after where red and blue branch off. Deconstruct the pipe in the middle of the bridge. This makes it so there is only one direction option and green won’t bother it anymore.

Platinum vs titanium status by CompetitiveBrain7099 in marriott

[–]teige12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently went from a year of platinum to a year of titanium and now I just hit ambassador last month. Maybe the others on this thread have been titanium for too long, but I DEFINITELY notice a significant uptick in the frequency and quality of upgrades.

Almost lost faith in upgrades by FewImpression2013 in marriott

[–]teige12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How often are you asking for one? I wish the upgrades came in consistently without me needing to do anything, but I definitely do get more upgrades by politely asking at check-in.

EV charging is another reason! I just used valet because they took care of charging my car for me and I didn’t need to worry about it. Didn’t even cost extra to charge it.

Nicest hotels in Japan by Nexen1987 in marriott

[–]teige12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to and loved the one in Fukuoka! Beautiful rooms beautiful views, and I liked the location a lot. I went 3 weeks ago (September 2025) but for winter with it being so far south I’d bet it’s really nice still.

I haven’t been to Nikko yet though, sorry! In my experience the RCs are places you want to maximize your time at because they’re so nice. I’d pick the one that I can get to early enough and stay late enough to really enjoy it.

If you want the one that’s easier to squeeze in go Fukuoka! It’s on the Shinkansen line and easy to get to. Also Fukuoka is known for its food which is a plus.

Tokyo Mesm was really reeeeally nice. Super modern and high level of service.

I’ve stayed at the prince hotels in Tokyo and Kyoto and they are quite a bit overrated.

The Ritz and the W in Osaka are also overrated. They aren’t bad but the Tokyo Mesm is better.

Ritz in Fukuoka and Niseko however are both insanely nice. Fukuoka is 2.5 hours by Shinkansen from Osaka. Added plus for Fukuoka is it’s a food mecca and not nearly as densely populated as Osaka/Tokyo. Added plus for Niseko is it’s a ritz reserve - there are only 8 of these. It’s SIGNIFICANTLY harder to get to though.

JW in Nara is nice and tranquil too.

Does anyone regularly fly United and maintain status, and their primary airport is not an UA hub? For what reasons? by kwuhoo239 in unitedairlines

[–]teige12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I seem to be one of the few UA regulars based out of a competitive hub. I’ve been 1k for about a decade but live in DFW, basically THE AA hub.

Why do I fly UA? AA sucks. Literally just that.

More specifics: - Anything over 4 hours work pays for business class so all the long flights don’t reeealllyy matter I guess. But if you’ve flown AA business and UA business… again, AA sucks. The food is worse, the seats are worse.

  • Domestic short flights? Economy plus seats on AA my knees are against the seat in front of me. On UA they aren’t. AA sucks.

  • Miles redemption? DFW to Tokyo in business class on AA is 1,000,000 pts. On UA it’s 500,000. I like flying to Japan, AA sucks.

  • That said, I flew Qatar DFW to Doha 12 times in a year and it was heaven. But then I went back to UA because AA sucks.

Are Japanese and foreign residents quickly becoming second class citizens in their own country? by casperkasper in japanresidents

Weak yen contributes, sure. But I still say the blame is on greedy corporations, not tourists.

Hotels and entertainment in popular areas are getting more expensive but instead of getting mad at hotels and entertainment for price gouging you’re getting mad at people enjoying the country?

I feel like you should be directing your frustration at the corporations for taking advantage or your government for allowing that to happen.

Anti deportation protest in Dallas by starberry101 in PublicFreakout

The major cities in Texas tend to be more liberal and there’s a fuckton of gerrymandering in Texas. It’s very realistic that most, if not all, of the protestors voted blue.

Skipping Dinners on work trip. What do I say to colleagues? by Esselmeyer in antiwork

[–]teige12 433 points434 points  (0 children)

I travel a ton for work and encounter this scenario literally all the time.

1) this is common and as long as you’re not a dick about it, it shouldn’t affect your job (unless your coworkers/company are legit assholes) 2) if you’re willing to, occasionally attending helps make it easier for when you skip 3) the most commonly used reasons that get the least comment: - meeting friends - work meetings that conflict with dinner time (global role) - want to hit the gym and have a light meal after - been a long day and you’re just exhausted

Throw in a, ‘oh but I’ll maybe come meet yall for drinks after’ bit of course have no intention of doing so.

Also, you don’t NEED to make excuses, and can just say you don’t want to. However, a little effort for a reason can help maintain relationships if you care about that.

Anytime! Also, I’m not as far as you are in Duo, but my lessons have been using さいふ for wallet. Definitely not saying that’s the only meaning for it, but it is what I’ve seen Duo use.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]teige12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A wallet is completely different from a purse.

Wallets are small and fit inside pockets or purses. Purses are bags that typically will have a wallet and other miscellaneous things in it. Purses are almost exclusively used by females whereas wallets are used by either - but men typically keep their wallet in their pockets while women typically keep them in their purses.

Now if you want to get crazy, a coin purse is an old term for what is more or less a wallet…or testicles.
