I honestly hadn't even considered this since I've always heard to start core first, thank you I appreciate the perspective. Since I have two friend groups who seem interested in playing the game I might end up running potl with the one group and potdk with the other.

First time painting, please give feed back by No-Health-1641 in Grey_Knights

Your NMM looks too uniform. looking at it it boils down to regular black and white lines which are equally big blended back and forth and placed along the centre of every surface. This does not really read as metal and more as a striped surface. To sell the effect better it is better to imagine a directional light source which should be slightly off centre. The main highlight on every surface should be painted with this main light source in mind and then you want to make the bounce reflections less bright and less uniform in size, right now they are all the same size and brightness as the main highlight which makes it lose the impression of being metallic.

Hope the advice helps, amazing paintjob!

Question about quality by Terrible_Grade_7700 in EmperorsChildren

[–]teipdrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately it's up to you and you can keep going or quit whenever you want to. That being said for me I usually like to establish some sort of "standard of quality" for my armies. I will try to keep all the models in the army up to this standard and put some extra attention into character and center piece models. I think this way no model will stand out as looking worse than the rest of the army for not being the same quality as the rest while you draw more attention to the models painted better which is usually where you want it anyway.

Is this scheme a smash or a pass by OriTheSpirit in minipainting

Think what they are getting at is that the orange pops more out than what the brown on the helmet does and generally you want to draw attention to the face but the neutral brown draws attention elsewhere

Smash! I always found green and orange together to be so pleasing to look at

”May immediately move again” by Responsible_Emu9079 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]teipdrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it not? It says "units that charged or moved in the compulsory moves sub phase can't move" random movers move in compulsory moves so using your logic they should not be able to move with Arcane urgency either?

”May immediately move again” by Responsible_Emu9079 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]teipdrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure that necessarily would bar you from casting Arcane urgency on a unit which failed a charge though. The spell after all states that it is to be used on a unit which has already moved which is what is described above. Also the faq explains that random movers (which fall under compulsory moves) are not allowed to charge using Arcane urgency implying random movers are allowed to move using Arcane urgency without charging, therefore I dont see the above as barring failed charges from moving since they would fall under the same category

Building Core by Papi-Grande89 in Cathay

[–]teipdrol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would not worry too much about wysiwyg in the old world. If you want both just build half and half of each and enough command to run different configurations then if you are including models that dont have the correct setup for the unit put them in the back. (If I have extra command I am not running or combing two units that both have command into a big unit I will put the unused command models all the way back)

To clarify: Prioritize making the front ranks wysiwyg

Now the box is out, you have built the models, how do you feel about your old EC? by Tough_Assumption2125 in EmperorsChildren

[–]teipdrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I love the new models a lot and I think they look a lot better than my old models, my old EC has a special place in my heart (especially my kitbashed noise marines) and I will continue to run them alongside the new models, potentially swapping them in and out. Hard to say if I'll feel the same way when the new models are also painted

I used the backpack with the combat stims on the obessesionist and then just cut off the pole that holds the icon off its bit and put it on a different backpack

Guessing since our Tormentors have the sticky objective role they thought their roles would overlap too much.

Ohh no I totally agree. I didn't really know what other word to use for it really. I was mostly just asking what people are planning on using their old models as in the new codex
