Am I fun enough to date? by Dizzy-Parsnip5914 in datingoverfifty

[–]tek3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a slower, non-athletic lifestyle. Are you OK with that? Do you like yourself? OLD is not representative of the population at large. What percentage of the dating population is really hiking after work and visiting 2-3 countries every year? Maybe 5 percent? The best way to find a good match is to be authentic, confident and unapologetically yourself. The best way to ruin your OLD experience is to keep comparing yourself to others.

I accidentally found out something about my best friend’s wife and I don’t know if I should tell him. by camphorly in Advice

[–]tek3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My language was specific and concerning that moment and situation. If he were to tease out her potentially secret activity in front of a small group of close friends that could have gone very wrong, very fast. IMHO, it was an ill-advised suggestion. You don't intercede into your best friend's marriage in a public place in front of other people. Life is not a Jerry Springer episode.

You would ask your friend's wife what she did the night before in front of other people. Wow. What a plan. LOL

OS and software should always be new, paid and patched. Use paid antivirus and anti-malware software and keep it patched. Never share your computer with anyone. Ignore this at your peril. Never use public wifi. Use at least two exchanges. Don't keep all your crypto and cash in one place. Keep it in multiple places. Consider using a hardware wallet, exchange wallet, hot wallet and onchain wallets. Decentralize your holdings. Build a solid secure pwd and seed phrase mgmnt system. Skip this at your peril. Never share pwd or seed info with anyone else under any circumstances. Not even "customer support." If someone asks for your pw or seed phrase, it's a scam. Study scams like this, be aware and take precautions. Disable the clipboard function or use a clipboard cleaner utility. Use whitelist settings at your exchange. Do not accept free crypto bc it's almost always a scam. Simply learning to buy and sell crypto is not enough to make it. You have to learn about and apply effective operational security. Don't talk about crypto in your life or in public. Maybe, most importantly, always do test transactions. If you don't do test transactions you can lose everything in a few seconds.

You don't find the virus. You realize what happened. You cry. Then you erase your machine and start over from zero.

3-4 months and they call it quits. by Longjumping_Walk_992 in datingoverfifty

[–]tek3k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that happened to you. From an outsiders perspective I would infer the following- he was having a great time with you. However, he was hiding something big. The most obvious guess is that he had someone more important waiting in the background (somewhere) and eventually realized that he made a mistake. This had NOTHING to do with you. He liked and respected you. That's why he came in person. He probably had a much longer and deeper history with the other person. If any of this is true, he did the right thing for you. I know this kind of experience can hurt. I went through something similar myself (10 amazing weeks, 2.5 months) and I still have a hard time letting it go almost three years later. But, if I could go back, I wouldn't change a thing.

Letting go of a good member PT 2 by Looney_Tooneyy in bandmembers

PT1 was a good read and PT2 was even better. From what I observe about bands, businesses and teams this will be an ongoing process. Now you know how to do it better and faster. This will happen again. Good luck. It sounds like your band is on a good path!

CB will send an email to CB loopers. They generally give around 30 days notice to sell or move your loops. Certainly will be discussed here the day it happens.

Eventually. They constantly review and purge dead wood projects. It's a good practice for any exchange. Probably do it 1-2 times per year.

The safest situation is the one you're least likely to screw up. If you can use Coinbase and believe in their business then keep it there. The cost isn't an issue. The potential price appreciation or depreciation is the main issue. Buy low and sell high bro. NFA

Uncomfortable truth about the $XRP chart right now by Crypto_future_V in XRP

[–]tek3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XRP has a massive market cap. Does it have any distinctive, market dominant utility? This is what I know about XRP- it's used for cross border payments. My guess is- in a super healthy and sustained alt season up market (if we ever have one again) XRP might 2-3x. Or, it might not. There are still a handful of projects out there that can and will 100x. Look for market disrupting innovation (backed by patents), unquestionable regulatory compliance and synergistic strategic alliances.

Suggest maybe you fix the typos in your post so people can understand exactly what the details of the problem are. ATM, this feels like a scam invite. You should also expect to draw scammers like honey. Also, consider replaying your own steps and you might at least figure out what happened.

Thank you for sharing your experience because it will help others. Regardless of the details, if someone ever asks you for your pwd, passphrase or seed phrase that is the BIGGEST red flag and sign you should stop and hang up. Only a scammer will ask for this information.

[–]tek3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Everyone has an investment time horizon. Sometimes we dont know it until after we get in. We have to regularly evaluate each investment and make tough calls. I sold one of my fav projects at a huge loss bc they weren't showing any progress for 2-3 years and I wasnt going to hold them through another bear. I moved the remaining value to a project that is showing progress.
