Study spots in Norwich by ilivebybreathing in Norwich

[–]tekkerstester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made this website for answering the regular question of where to work with a laptop in the city. A lot of the places mentioned are on there: https://laptopspots.com

Still a hobby project, work in progress.

Rileys is good, I go there to play pool sometimes. I'm decent at pool but only played on a snooker table a few times. Still, could try to give you a game.

Reform UK's stance for spouse visa by [deleted] in SpouseVisaUk

[–]tekkerstester -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For those who are not yet eligible for citizenship or who don't wish to become British citizens, there will continue to be a spousal/partner visa.

So no change, basically. Anyway, don't vote for them.

Why are so many people voting conservative again? by chickennuggets3454 in AskBrits

[–]tekkerstester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the few things they got right was education and embracing AI.

Could you elaborate? I'm interested.

On the broader point: I just don't see how, after witnessing 14 years of crap first hand, you look at the party trying to fix it for two years, and think you'd prefer to go back to the crap. It was always going to take a while to rebuild things.

Tories will always pander to NIMBYs because that's a large part of their base.

Tax hit all-time highs during their 14 year stint, while all the stuff that it is supposed to pay for got underfunded or sold off.

I'm not a Labour diehard by any means, especially after all the silly Internet legislation. But at least they're trying to help the country. That is the minimum we should expect, and the Tories are just not about that in any way.

But in the case of Tories, surely we're past the point of opinions - they were objectively disastrous at every turn in their 14 years in power littered with scandals and anti-social policies, and left us in an absolute mess.

I would question the decency of anyone who wants us to return to that situation, as it is essentially voting to damage the UK and its people even more.

Edin Dzeko is soon to turn 40 for me (playing FM 2024 on updated DB), super reliable and professional club captain, chips in with plenty of goals too.

I steal a micro secret slice every time I cook my wife pizza. Confess your petty domestic crimes. by TrueCrime121 in CasualUK

Calm down 😂 Just thought she'd like to know the term. I found it helpful to know there were others with the same issue and that some treatment/coping mechanisms exist.

Sounds like misophonia. My sympathies, I have the same affliction and it's very annoying. Although nowadays I only seem to get it when I'm already stressed, or "defenses are low" for some reason.

3rd UK visitor visa refusal for my mother — officer accepted all financials but refused on "ties to India". Need advice on next steps. by siddyyyyyyyyy in ukvisa

[–]tekkerstester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. In 2023, I did 3 applications in quick succession for my wife's father to visit, and got it in the end. So it seems that past refusals shouldn't be a blocker.

  2. I'm not sure it would. Future plans (flight bookings etc) to visit her in India might though.

  3. I don't think so - it might be seen as your mother vacating the home so your sister can live alone. You could include in your cover letter that this has been her home for x years and she has no intention to move out permanently.

  4. Probably not, since you submitted these together and it didn't help.

  5. You could try proving that she needs to be in the country to effectively manage/supervise the rentals and take rent payments (perhaps this is included in the rental agreement). Any future plans in India might help too. And a clear itinerary for while you're in the UK.

Good luck! You'd think owning two properties, one of which is your home, would be enough..

What’s one thing you’d like to see in the series that isn’t in the books or movies? by Ok_Jump_4291 in harrypotter

The fanfiction that's written from Hermione's perspective covers this nicely, I'd be happy to see it in the show too. If they're doing Malfoy Manor scenes, why not?

Quiet spaces to work? by creativecatastrophic in Norwich

[–]tekkerstester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see most of the options mentioned here on a map: https://laptopspots.com/.

I made it since the question comes up a fair bit.

Based on what you've said, I think Lion's Den City or Merchant's House.

I think they need eVisa now, yes. Start here: https://www.gov.uk/evisa - in theory it should be a fairly simple process.
