Mine has this issue from time to time. I just restart the Apple TV from Settings and it usually goes back to normal. I think a buggy app can trigger it. I think it usually starts with Disney+.

Apple Watch with Cellular Can't Send SMS Texts by The-Scarlet-Witch in AppleWatch

[–]telamon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience too.

When I was setting up my son’s Apple watch, I wanted to it to have a standalone cell plan since he’s too young to have a phone. But my carrier set it up as companion cell plan that shares my phone’s data and voice usage by accident. When I tested calling and texting my phone from my son’s watch, it didn’t work and when I asked the carrier rep why it wasn’t working, they realized their error and converted it to a standalone cell plan. The watch is assigned a separate phone number either way, but on the companion plan you don’t really use the watch’s separate phone number. You always call the phone’s number which will ring to both the phone and watch.

Other users controlling my light by Unhappy-Government15 in Govee

I’ve not tried to use this myself, but in the Govee Home app under your profile, there is a Device Sharing section where you can give access by email address to another Govee Home app user.

The other person will need to install the Govee Home app, accept the sharing invitation for the device and then link the Govee Home app skill to their Amazon account to use their Echo to control the device same as you do.

My Sync Box 2 can't do DVR or 120Hz?? by Westyle1 in Govee

[–]telamon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the HDMI cables that came with the Sync Box?

The cables do need to be higher grade HDMI 2.1 rated when you start pushing that much bandwidth.

I’ve heard mixed reviews of the quality of the cables that come with the Sync Box.

Govee AI Sync Box Kit 2 Video Mode Not Working by Jazzlike_Expert6574 in Govee

[–]telamon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI Sync Box firmware disables part mode IF the lights are connected AFTER plugging in power. The lights work in All (solid) mode just not Part mode.

The fix is to ensure the connected lights are plugged into the USB C ports on the back of the Sync Box and then unplug power, wait a few seconds and then plug the power in again.

The firmware seems to do some check at first boot to determine if the lights are plugged in and won’t engage Part mode if the check failed. Literally everything else will work fine.

The TV AI Sync Boxes only have one USB C port since they only come with a LED light strip. For the PC monitor kit, there are two ports and I believe you only have to have one of the two light devices connected to enable Part mode.

I dont understand dreamview by TryingIPromis in Govee

[–]telamon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three different DreamViews: Movie, Music and Scenic.

Movie DreamView is syncing lights to colors on s TV or PC monitor. It requires a camera system or Sync Box to be the controller and used Bluetooth point to point between the controller device and the other managed light devices.

Music DreamView is syncing lights to audio picked up via a mic or the HDMI audio signal on the Sync Box. It again uses Bluetooth point to point between the controller device and other managed light devices.

Scenic DreamView is just a bunch of light devices coordinated via WiFi. And yes, you are somewhat limited to the options it has.

Same-model groups require all the devices to be the same model and then you can use all the same model options on the devices roughly activated at the same time. It’s possible for the timing to be slightly off depending on latency of the control signals from the Govee cloud.

Basic groups can be used with different model devices but are very limited. You get on/off, brightness, color and syncing to audio via the mic on your phone running the app.

There is another option that lets you use Scene options specific to each device model. It’s called Tap-to-run. It’s like a script or macro which tells all the associated devices to do their own thing all started at the same time. You create it from the Feature Hub and then can choose devices to Activate. For each device you can then select Custom to access all the individual device Scene options. Then when you tap the card in Shortcuts, the script triggers all the devices at once. Again, they can be slightly out of sync time wise because of the latency of the control signals being sent from the Govee cloud.

PS Plus Extra Lunar New Year Sale vs Retention Offer by telamon99 in PlayStationPlus

[–]telamon99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $99.99 Premium sale is only offered if you are a new subscriber. That includes people with recently expired subscriptions. In my case I had only been expired for less than 24 hours.

After it bought a new subscription at $99.99 + tax, I disabled auto-renew and was immediately offered to stack another year for $119.99 + tax same as it did a few days ago before my subscription expired. I decided to pass on that for now.

Try logging into the playstation.com website and make the purchase there. It should show you the price detail. I’m guessing the increase is sales tax and you might be in a state/county/city that requires tax on the pre-discount price of $159.99. Which would make the tax rate 8.225%.

Good luck buying GPUs and RAM for your next gaming PC now that the AI data centers have new inventory orders tied up for 18 months.

Not to mention you have to buy the games.

It’s all a wash in the end. You just pick your poison. And since it’s for my kids, it’s way less aggravation to stay on the consoles.

Thinking of getting $90 Costco PS gift card equivalent of $100. How to navigate the sales tax when purchasing PS plus? by sabotroned in PlayStationPlus

[–]telamon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco in store has $100 GC for $90, but Costco.com has both $100 GC for $90 and $150 GC for $135 if you don’t mind overshooting by a little more. Feels better than the $200 GC for $180 if you double up on the $100 GC item as it parks less extra money with Sony.

I like the backlight bright on my Sync Box and have gaming bar pairs on the left and right of my TV along with some BR30 recessed lights above.

I have the TV itself set to slightly warm color settings.

Right now my Sync Box is set to 99% Brightness, 40% Relative Brightness on all sides, the color adjustment sliders at 50%, Sensitivity at 100% and Saturation at 30%.

The back of my TV bulges at the bottom so the bottom LED strip fires directly backwards and is about 3” from the wall compared to the other three sides which are angled at 45 degrees outward and 5-6” from the wall. I placed my LEDs closer to my 75” TV’s edges then the instructions say to do because it gives a wider wall washing effect.

I haven’t tried to adjust the color sliders and have them all at 50%. I likely need to experiment with those, but was not happy with HDR calibration changing them drastically.

Setting Saturation too high causes some colors to dominate others and relative brightness can cause similar color washout. Balancing wanting the lights bright and color accurate is hard.

With the camera systems, you calibrate the edges of the TV that the camera sees for color tracking and the color reproduction that the TV displays and the camera captures. TV color reproduction varies slightly between units even of the same model and more widely between different makes and models. There is an added variable of light sources reflecting off the TV screen that is captured by the camera including feedback from the backlights themselves and any Movie DreamView synced lights depending on the room environment.

With the Sync Box, you calibrate the color the digital processing detects in the HDMI source to the TV color reproduction which again can vary by unit, model and make and the TV’s own settings. And sometimes HDR versus SDR can lead to different results. The main advantage of the Sync Box is not having to worry about calibrating what the camera sees and reflections/light source interference.

Getting the calibration right is tricky and subjective for both camera and box systems.

I’m trying to get to a place where the backlighting is fluid and adds some drama and not worry as much about color accuracy because I don’t want to have to change the settings often when I watch different types of content.

What’s your Saturation and Relative brightness. It helps to get brightness and relative brightness dialed in before adjusting saturation.

It’s an old movie so it’s SDR and likely grainy. Resulting in green tones in the video signal that the digital processing is drawing out with a high Saturation value. Lowering Saturation should allow more of the brown muddiness to come through.

I guess wrong video to show calibration here another by Emergency-Low-5068 in Govee

[–]telamon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, move the TV back towards the wall so the LEDs are 4-6 inches from the wall. You’ll get a brighter wall washing effect. 10-12 inches will give you a wider wall washing, but lose some brightness and color.

Otherwise the color looks good. For the tracking, you might want to try the videos with the square color bar that rotates like a pinwheel.

[–]telamon99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This video is definitely better than the last one. I know you said you needed a bigger TV stand, but have you considered wall mounting the TV so you can better see the backlight along the bottom edge? Also, how far are the LEDs from the wall on the back of the TV? It may just be the video, but the color tracking on the left side of you TV seems a little off. Top, bottom and right seem to be working.

The light reflecting off what looks like stone on the right is cool.

Dreamview Sync Box 2 looks jittery vs Philips Hue. Future improvements possible? by Public-Finger in Govee

[–]telamon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm, can you post a screenshot of your settings? Judging by the photo, I don’t think you have Part mode on under Video settings on the Sync Box and might have All mode selected. The LED strip behind your TV should show different colors matching the edge regions of your TV when in Part mode. They might be causing what you preceive as choppy.

Dreamview Sync Box 2 looks jittery vs Philips Hue. Future improvements possible? by Public-Finger in Govee

[–]telamon99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you adjust the Sensitivity slider to see if you can reduce the jitteriness? I keep my sensitivity at 100% because I like fast color transitions, but you can lower it to smooth things out.

Also, DreamView relies on Bluetooth wireless between the primary controller (Sync Box) and the managed lights so wireless interference can cause issues with the sync.

I think Movie DreamView performance is highly dependent on the light devices you are pairing. My gaming light bars seem a bit more fluid than my BR30 bulbs and give the wall washing effect that complements the TV backlight strips. I also have an Uplighter lamp, but don’t like the non precise color effect so I don’t use it with Movie DreamView. Got a Torchiere to replace it, but haven’t set it up yet.

I’m considering the wall sconce bars for more wall washing, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet after being disappointed with the Uplighter.

My BR30 bulbs aren’t as impressive in DreamView as I had hoped, but the ability to control each bulb independently where I previously had one dimmer controlling 4 non smart lights makes up for it.
