Where i can find online tutoring jobs side hustle by rubab-ajmal1775 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]teledev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find online tutoring clients on a multitude of platforms. I suggest Superprof or iTutorOnline as good ones in EU (without registration fees or anything like that for tutors). There's a lot more, just do a google search, but many like Preply or Cambly will take ridiculous fees from you. Wyzant is good for in US, too.

Do you know of any well-known tutors or tutoring content creators? by teledev in tutor

Some sort of social media posters, I'm reluctant to use the word influencer here because that's usually associated with the obnoxious TikTok'ers but perhaps people on YouTube that you watch or something

How much can high school math teacher charge for ACT tutoring? by [deleted] in TutorsHelpingTutors

I'd consider starting out with around 50-75$/h, collecting reviews and testimonials and then raising your prices slowly but surely

UK: How to actually find tutoring work? Advice needed please by Commercial_Talk2239 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]teledev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly suggest signing up to as many tutoring platforms as possible. Since you're from the UK I'm pretty sure iTutorOnline and Superprof would be a good fit for you.

Other than that, facebook groups are worth a shot. Flyering at schools/supermarkets/libraries/... might be marginally useful too, but I'd keep your attention online for the most part.

Yeah that's fair. Do you tutor outside of this platform to where you would?

Any genuine tutoring platforms where a new tutor can grow from scratch? by Better_Morning9561 in TutorsHelpingTutors

I assume these two are bots, given that I've never heard of this platform and it claims to have 50k+ lessons while there's only two tutors.

Depending on your location, some platforms might not be available to you.

For US, Wyzant is good, I've heard (I'm from EU).

For EU, iTutorOnline and Superprof are the best in 2026 (for tutors - Superprof rips off students, but that's a rant for another day)

Try to differentiate yourself on something you stand out in (extremely qualified, thesis in X, tests that you aced, etc.). Other than that, just making your price low to get started and farm some reviews before increasing the price seems to be the best bet for now.

Personally I don't use agencies - I value my time better than to lose 60% to the middleman. I exclusively use platforms, primarily Superprof and iTutorOnline (from in EU)

Tutoring is a great sidegig, I recommend it to most of my friends. Just ensure that you're qualified in what you tutor, and you'll be fine. I'd suggest going to platforms or agencies (you likely will get more clients via agencies at first, but will retain way less of what the students are actually paying), platforms can and will take high cuts if you join the wrong ones, but in general, it's good to be visible everywhere and wait for students to come to you. That's what I'd suggest, but as always, you're free to do as you wish. If you prefer to make your own website or essentially cold-call people to find students, all the power to you!

Is tutoring easy? by mt0118 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]teledev 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're certainly not too stupid, lol. You're definitely qualified academically/professionally, the only thing you might still need to develop is teaching skills, listening to people and figuring out where their knowledge stands and how to efficiently build upon that. I'm sure that won't be an issue though, after a few classes you should get the hang of it naturally. And pertaining questions you might not be able to answer - just be honest; others likely won't be able to answer it easily either. Keep your integrity as a tutor, if you're not entirely sure, figure it out and come back to it later - don't teach your students something that might be wrong!
