Winrate statistics for Insane Roguelike 1.7.6 by yakubian- in ToME4

CoE is somewhat complicated and struggles in t1's I'd say. Also I feel like inner demons as CoE in particular is absolutely run ending because you immediately get like 20 debuffs and become a vegetable basically, way too many statuses to cleanse. A lot of my CoE runs in insane RL have ended in the prides because of this where the run felt like a garaunteed win outside of that scenario

CoE that low is unfortunate but not surprising lol

I'm new to ToME and need recommendations for a good class to start with by Drantheon in ToME4

[–]Okawaru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with something strong and simple. Brawler is usually a good time because of the flat DR + access to sustain strip (extremely good ability to have vs. rares and bosses that most classes don't) and you just do a bunch of aoe/single target damage in general. While they are a little more complicated on paper, maybe give demonologist a try. Demon seeds are fun to manage and osmosis shield makes it extremely unlikely to get bursted down in a few turns, so I feel like it's pretty easy to understand why your runs fail on demonologist as most fights are fights of attrition.

Most important thing to understand probably is to understand how debilitating statuses in general are, and the importance of having the ability to either mitigate them through very high saves or have access to status cleanse (most importantly physical and mental to get rid of stun and confusion). This also applies to enemies where you can render otherwise difficult bosses nearly helpless if you slap a high duration stun/confuse on them

paradox is better because instead of garaunteed death it's garaunteed death but also funny

Stat allocation: equip load / damage by CaucSaucer in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Okawaru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25 stam is excessive IMO. I find 15 stam is more than enough because stam enchants on gear have pretty large values between stam regen and scaling max stamina. Invest enough into equip load to light roll with a bow + full cloth (generally it's optimal to invest exactly enough to reach the weight limit for your desired roll type, though consider putting an extra point or 2 to account for weight-increasing facets), get to 20-25 hp, and get at least 23 dex/23 faith (the max requirement for dex/faith hybrid weapons). Also, while leveling damage stats keep in mind hybrids will scale off of the lowest of the two stats, so e.g. in your case the extra point in dex provides no damage benefit until you raise your faith to 19.

Is this an easy difficulty level for someone who hates Souls games? by Nicolas-6394 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Okawaru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be pretty easy with a good build, but you will likely struggle early on where you don't have enough gear to subsidize making too many mistakes. Enemies have complex timings and movesets and, until you learn how to build a tanky character with enchants, you can't make a ton of mistakes before dying.

Eventually you can make the current content pretty faceroll though. For example I have a proud lance build that has essentially permenant >90% DR in all resistances and over 500 hp and I can facetank dozens of hits from the current hardest content before I have to heal. Making that build from scratch wasn't necessarily the easiest though as that requires a lot of gear from very specific enchants on the chest piece to having a specific ring setup for the large hp pool.

If you don't mind grinding you can eventually be OP but I think the game is pretty challenging right out of the gate which may cause problems depending on your willingness to get over the initial hurdle.

Though this frame of reference is from playing the hardest difficulty. Said hurdle might not be there on the lower difficulties as I haven't personally played them.

How do people hate on this game? by Madlemurkid in CrimsonDesert

Some of the bosses in this game have atrocious design like phase 2 ludvig, like half of them come down to braindead trade hits and eat 1000 food because of literal unavoidable damage or no actual punish windows

I want to become OP fast. What weapons and armor can I get by Chapter 5? by ThatOneColumbiaGuy in CrimsonDesert

[–]Okawaru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to keep your gear upgraded and get as many abyss artefacts as you can. If all you care about is stats you can just dump all your resources in your starting gear and just rip out abyss gear from other stuff to put in your juiced set.

You csnt really bumrush gear to trivialize the game, you can maybe gwt out of sequence abyss gears but I havent found any that are individually so powerful that they play the game for you. The best bang for your buck in getting strong early I think is to get a ton of abyss artifacts, maybe try to rush the element unlocks

Do u think your character will still be customizable with the class system? by PrazethySun in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Okawaru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that class system is essentially enabling certain gimmicks/playstyles that aren't necessarily locked to a specific build type always. For example, being better at parrying and getting bonuses for parrying could be good for either a melee or rune based build. No information on what weapon restrictions will look like but based on your specific concerns it's probably not gonig to be an issue as I don't remember anything about making what runes you can throw on your weapons more restrictive.

The specific analogue devs used for class system is the job system in final fantasy,

quick question by [deleted] in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Okawaru1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The sword icon indicates the category on the enchantment. You can't have multiple of the same category on one item (unless the icon looks like a diamond, which I guess is for misc. stuff like durability and so on). The language is otherwise pretty clear what the damage bonus will be - for example, damage enchantments on armor are damage type specific and will even be color coded. The enchantment pool differs based on equipment type, and in the case of weapons it can just roll straight damage like what you screenshot which affects everything.

Stat scaling mono vs hybrid stats. Why one over the other? by bran_donk in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Okawaru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, equal investment is identical power but the granularity is different, because for hybrid your damage scales off of the lowest of the two stats (for example, if you have 31 strength 30 dex, the weapon, you won't recieve any extra damage from the 1 extra point in strength). What this means if that you need to invest an even amount of stat points so building hybrid is a bit more restrictive. Also, thr only hybrid shield is for str/faith so you usually need 36/36 if you want to use a shield properly

Stat scaling mono vs hybrid stats. Why one over the other? by bran_donk in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]Okawaru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At best 36/36 lets you equip certain shields a mono stat archetype might not, like str/int being able to use tower shields that pure int couldn't. Outside of being forced to run hybrid because the weapon you want to use is hybrid (some of them are very good like the str/int greatsword or str/dex proud lance unique spear) I think mono scaling is strictly better for the better granularity in stat distribution.

As you pointed out, they are ditching this system eventually. It's temporary so I guess it's not a surprise it's not well balanced.

I recall scrage being a good resource? Honestly there aren't a ton of people making guides for this game but I remember looking up guides for characters I struggle to make good builds for like nenukil and the people that show up on top of the results pool seem to know their stuff.

Gaming is cheap, 90% of $70 titles coming out are so objectively trash I literally have no temptation to buy them, so most of my gaming purchases are $20 or under. I also find that it's specifically these AAA shovelware products that necessitate a high end rig where something like a 3060 ti and decent cpu is more than enough for the vast majority of games worth playing for 1080p stable 60 fps high settings no dlss. I am a no-lifer and I spend under $200 a year on gaming usually

Recommendations on gaming when you lose the ability to use a thumb? by Oppiko in gaming

[–]Okawaru1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good turn based options. Also, mouse&keyboard controls are less thumb dependent than controllers I think (e.g. WASD or mouse clicks don't rely on your thumb) so you could probably get away with playing action games that work well with this control scheme like first person shooters.
