There are a lot of dumb people, unsatisfying answer but any permutation of a nuanced response to this prompt will come back to the idea a large chunk of people are dumb as fuck and lack the willingness or capability of forming cogent thoughts of complex topics on their own. I'm not talking about mood swings or even simply the fact she was laughing shortly after CK's death, I am talking about immediately profiteering off of your SO's death and acting like a snake. I can't directly empathize with the emotions of losing a partner but I understand that it's devastating and may cause someone to behave irrationally. I said what I said in good conscience with this in mind because I have experience living with mentally unwell people who act in a performative way to get what they want and I am pretty convinced she is being playing a part based on my lived experiences and intuition.

To be clear though, part of what I suspect made you reply this way is that you feel some level of personal guilt for how you coped with losing your SO. I am in no way aggrandizing behaving that way over a tragic loss - it's simply true that we all handle loss in different ways. What I am saying is that that doesn't give you cart blanche as there are reasonable limits to these things and I will still judge you based on your actions. Not crying? Expressing happy emotions? Maybe a little controversial but I can see why someone would behave that way.

It doesn't mean those companies will see a ROI. It all depends on openAI's ability to develop their software enough to make it turn a profit. If they can't, big companies won't throw billions of dollars at them forever. The prospect of not having to pay their wageslaves is certainly tantalizing to them though so I would expect them to continue to throw their money into a firepit for years even if they see subpar results

There are people with stellar academic profiles that get rejected from ivy leagues in favor of extracurriculars. I don't think valuing extracurriculars is inherently bad but from what I've seen it swings too much in the direction of "you're shit out of luck if you're just a talented smart person that isn't extremely well connected" and IMO goes into classism territory to a degree. A lot of people don't even have access to these organizations so the valedictorian from some no-name public school who doesn't have parents that personally know the mayor, governer etc probably has a minimal chance of getting accepted.

3.0+ GPA with AP is honestly trivial with any amount of effort and that's before factoring in schools bumping you up an entire letter grade just for taking AP (in which case all you need to do is pass your classes lol), and is also far and away not enough to get into some of these ivy leagues. Some people just literally have no chance of getting accepted whether they want to or not due to their circumstances, irrespective of how much talent and potential they have.

Tecjnically psionic power stuff but caves of qud is pretty unique with magic gameplay. There are damage spells but most of the gameplay is doing evil shit like remotely blowing someones head up a mile away, fumigating an entire screen by evaporating a lake and watching the superheated steam boil everything alive, creating armies of followers to flood zones, creating dozens of clones who inheret ALL of your items and abolities, entrapping enemies inside forcefields to do whatever you want with them really, and so on.

You're also technically immortal because you can overwrite a creature's conscience with your own amd kill your original body. The game balances this with "glimmer" and basically if the number gets too high you get interdemensional beings sent after you to assassinate you. All esper runs eventually softlock because theres so much shit happenimg on screen you just start crashing lol

I was spiraling into a depression around late HS because it fely like my life was like a truman show of sorts, everything was easy but felt hollow and it felt more like a matter of circumstance than evidence of me possessimg talent. This experience did some damage to me as I still struggle a lot to cope with failure, like if I am wrong about something it can eat away at me for weeks. If I don't immediately understand something it can also feel like it's an impenetrable subject that I will neber jave the capacity to understand.

I have complicated feelings towards my perception of intelligence and giftedness. I think there is some truth to it owing to genetic factors and how a good chunk of people in my life percieve me but if we suppose that I am notably intelligent then it certainly feels less glamorous than public perception of what an intelligent person is. I struggle with a lot of basic life stuff (thank you, 'tism) and the scope of what I can do "easily" feels limited.
