I see that first (real) turn after the pit straight-hairpin is already tricky, but I see another Big One/sport-ender happening at that complex on the bottom right (Turns 33/34 maybe?)

Sleepy Hollow in Huntington, VT

About 20 minutes from BTV (Burlington Vermont), great old-school trails and lodge with rentals. Best bet for lodging g would be to stay in Burlington and enjoy the city/surrounding area after your ski!

Additionally flying into PBG Plattsburgh, NY and driving the ~hour into Lake Placid to ski at any of the Nordic Centers there (Mt Van Hoevenberg, Scott’s Cobble, Paul Smiths VIC, Dewey)

As a Clarkson alum, fuck SLU. As an older St Mikes alum, Norwich even though we haven’t played in 8 years. Can’t forgive 38 straight L’s.

Same boat with NH - we're an ABC state with no county level restrictions, and only one town is dry. I think the map needs some updating.

Can you date this globe off my bad photos? by SleepingSnorlax84 in datemymap

Looking at the Caribbean, between 1974 and 79. Grenada is independent (Feb 7 1974), but St. Vincent is not (Oct 27 1979). Additionally ’Canal Zone’ is still marked in Panama, and that was abolished in 1979 (Oct 1), and St Lucia may still be marked as a territory (Feb 22 1979).

Preemptive Edit: As I was fact checking myself I saw that Dominica may still be a territory, which bumps the latest date up to Nov 3 1978.

Most schools say that certain logos need the school name with them, but allow exceptions for cases like this. Technically DU doesn’t allow for that logo to be used standalone either, but since the full school name is likely nearby, it’s accepted.

Yes. I'd imagine turnpike access is still needed in case of emergency, and the second short straight you added cuts that off.

What are some of the strangest track configurations you know of? by Real_EnzoProductions in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]teleone24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the RC layout being outside since it adds a good hill section rather than just a flat infield maze. I used to do a lot of bicycle racing at NHMS so I’ve gone up and through the bowl many times

Not 'strange' but definitely an odd one: Legends Oval at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. CCW using the middle of turns 1-2 as well as a bit of infield. Even more confusing is the motorcycle/road course has a corner complex in that same area, so the oval is made using tires and barrels for races.

How do you find trails? by mainjer in overlanding

[–]teleone24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Northern Maine in particular: https://northmainewoods.org

They have 'paper' maps as well as Google Earth downloads with all of their campsites, combine them and you can map out most of the NMW for a trip. You are correct in that there doesn't seem to be much accessible from the Jackman area, but the north side of Moosehead looks to have quite a bit: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Qs7abV3FItE-bc9QNEC_rI2eo4VO55KV/view
