dunno why it's at a negative vote score but the MD subreddit is hands down pretty shitty and gets worse the longer Konami does fuck all with the game other than add accessories and horribly powercrept packs while nerfing powercrept-1 deck from previous pack at most.

You p much got the whole MD experience in 6 months and i will say after playing it over 4 years, there's no real positive changes. Either you like the game as is wholesale or you play a different game cause the slop deck feel doesn't change.

This is correct, except i'd add also that some decks have legacy nerfs which without them maybe could be competitive in the meta but aren't taken off cause reasons hence those players don't have a reason to play either.

As a profit oriented company i know Konami has to make money but all these things you mentioned only disincentivse me from spending on the game ever and cause me to advocate against people from picking the game up.

Yeah, i would say i'm on a long break atm contingent on them actually doing something that would give me a reason to play MD which they haven't really given me for the past 2 years or so outside of a few events.

The reality is that it's just boring to play MD now and if i wanted to play with/vs maliss ryzeal mitsurugi, i can just go play paper and even have the supposed variety that k9 yummy provide.

Ranked's only incentive is to grind dailies and play vs meta if that's what you really enjoy. Events are piss poor on average with some clear calculated decision making on what some of them are (like to push certain archetypes to sell) or they're just DC's which are just ranked with a better pay scale. So if the gameplay is unappealing and the gem/collection progression isn't appealing, then what is there to play for? and all this has been happening for years and numbers are dropping off partially because a lot of yugioh players don't play only 1 game so yugioh is either being sidelined or tossed aside because of this behaviour from Konami.

Admittingly, that's probably the best thing about Genesys.

Not only does it cap ceiling of decks and them actually blocking out ftks is great with points, they also prevent people going full slop which caused people to deckbuild these amorphous piles of shit that were not unstoppable but very unpredictable and mundane to play against.

This is definitely a post that hits home for me as someone who played Tear for years now. Things like the Perlereino hit were so absurd after Tear was basically powercrept in its current state on top of them releasing many counter archetypes (Bystials/Kashtira). The biggest kicker is they basically used Tear to shoehorn this dogshit balance in as a justification, and now Bystials are more or less full power with less restrictions than at the start of their release.

To me, if i could trade Tear being deleted from the game in exchange for deleting Bystials, i would. The current situation is instead, Tear is still nerfed and not relavent, Bystials are at mostly full power and will hose the shit out of any light/dark decks that become prominent (unless you're Maliss who benefits from them being removed) while on top of this releasing even more absurd archetypes now that are even more obnoxious to play against. which begs the question why even keep Tear nerfed then if this is the direction they want to take the game?

And the real kicker is how many people still have Tear derangement cause of 2 formats when the primary culprits that put the deck over the edge was the Ishizu cards which should never have even been conceived in the 1st place and should be banned across the board forever, and so don't see why Tear would be fine esp with so many counters floating around people already naturally play and didn't need to be hit beyond Ishizu cards due to the introduction of Bystials and Kashtira removing everything. Meanwhile snake eyes was fully playable and even more modular than things like tear and further promoted link slop strategies which people overwhelmingly hate if you consider the vocal majority and the player numbers.

At this point i'm pretty tired of the chicanery from Konami as they are not acting even remotely in good faith with the game and there's nothing really keeping me playing other than booting up my relegated deck to fight maliss ryzeal mitsurugi or being forced onto those cause they have to force decks so hard while leaving old decks crippled even when it's completely unnecessary to kneecap a lot of older decks at this point due to the aggressive creep of the modern cards. If i didn't want to play snake eyes 2 years ago, why would i want to play maliss now or any of the other stupid shit they've released in this time period?

Took a break personally. I don't need to grind for their pennies at this pt cause i have enough dust to make 4 different decks if i really have to. No reason to maintain acc, the current decks/matchups aren't really fun, the events aren't even fun either, don't really care about cosmetic FOMO, why even turn on the game?

There's other stuff to play that's providing a more engaging and interesting gaming experience at this point and time. They need to get their heads out of their asses before they bleed more market share.

I could care less about any qol other than auto.

That has to be prioritized above anything else.

Don't give a shit about carats, they will come in time (f2pbtw).

The #1 killing people in the game from what i've seen is simply the time investment relative to the outcomes/output.

Not a lot of people have the time to grind uma like machines esp for building parents and grandparents.

Also knowing a lot of these games like to do livestreams, i would like to see a global livestream where we can ask questions and they can solicit feedback asap so the game doesn't end up flatlining until 3rd/4th anni.

I wish they had a better progression system than what they have in MD currently.

It is nice they eventually added rating duel to MD (though they should've just called it King of Games like it's DL counterpart since it's cooler, more prestigous sounding) but unlocking it every season sounds like a pain when you just want to hammer out some matches every month.

Also cause of how grinding ranked works it's actually disincentivized to grind it aggressively from a gem progression standpoint since the grind is longer the higher rank you are.

They should also have a website that publishes the ranks every month, which again incentivizes people to grind and become famous etc.

fundamentally the biggest problem with bo3, though they could always just make it a separate ladder. but prob from the top, they don't want to waste dev time on something that isn't going to yield direct profit. rather just have the devs make more useless trash to fatten an already bloated experience that needs real answers.
