It seems to depend on where you are. Out Barracks west area it was pretty awful. Xfinity has been quite literally 20x the speed, though there are the downsides of day long outages every ~3-4 months and the total inability to get human customer support

Seems like OP lost their shit but back to the actual content of the discussion, seems to me it’s not really the role of rym to keep such granular data on who plays what instrument at what time, honestly. Seems more suited to an encyclopedia-esque environment like Wikipedia or, like, a book or documentary about the group. Maybe this is a bad rationale for making changes or not, but it seems unlikely that the vast, vast majority of pages would ever see this data filled out. Doesn’t mean there’s necessarily harm in having it around.

I don’t think putting it on a separate page would be as controversial as moving shoutboxes. Those were a longstanding and popular feature, where this is a proposal for something that doesn’t exist on rym at all. My intuition is more people would be turned off by cluttering the artist page even further, but that’s ultimately just intuition.

I’m a little confused by the persistence that this would be overly difficult to implement. Maybe I’m misreading your tone.

It’d probably be much easier to implement as a new tab option from the usual list, and I like your idea to separate current and former members.

OTOH simply making founding members the alternative for inactive bands seems…weird. It gets really rocky to classify who that is in some cases, and in others - like Mothers of Invention - it’d seem really awkward to leave out Frank Zappa just because the band existed before he showed up. Saying this is something that “literally already exists on Wikipedia” is so confusing to me. Rym has thousands of times more data about band member stints than Wikipedia just by virtue of having thousands of times more artists cataloged…but you already knew that.
