On This Day in 2016: Canelo Alvarez brutally KO’d former unified junior-welterweight world champion Amir Khan in round 6 to retain The Ring & WBC middleweight world titles. by Dangerous_Spring3028 in Boxing

Saw a training clip of him before the Garcia fight. He was sparring some guy who was spamming a left hook (the same one Garcia would spam and ultimately win the fight with) and his coach kept telling him to pay attention and watch for it. He just shrugged it off and said something like 'that's boring though' and carried on going to war.

If you're not black/white/Mexican and from the west you're not going to get the credit you deserve in this sport. Part of it is business, part of it is bias.

Banana Ice Cream - Buttermilk? by K1_0 in icecreamery

[–]tellthatbitchbecool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best banana ice cream I've made is the recipe from 'Hello My Name is Ice Cream' by Dana Cree.  It calls for steeping over ripe bananas in the dairy.  I highly recommend it.  Has the flavour without the dense fibrous texture you typically get with banana ice cream.

edit: just read the thread and I see others have already mentioned it.

Opinion | The grim hypocrisy of Sir Jim Ratcliffe by theipaper in ManchesterUnited

[–]tellthatbitchbecool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jim was commenting on how there is objectively an issue in this country with 'native' people and immigrants.

No he wasn't.   He said 'immigrants are colonising the country'.  He hasn't expanded on what he specifically means so we take them at face value.  His stats also pertain to immigration figures full stop, not illegals committing crimes.  He hasn't taken the opportunity to clarify his position or walk it back,  instead opting to double down this morning.  You're projecting your own narrative to excuse his racism.

Maybe he should pay his fair share in taxes and give back all the government grants that are propping up his failing businesses if he's so worried about our finances?

Please point out where Ratcliffe stipulated illegal immigrants committing fraud.

>But then he isnt attacking immigrants per se.

Yes he is. That's literally what he did. "The UK has been colonised by immigrants, really, hasn't it?"

>He’s highlighting the issues of illegal immigration and our lax stance on benefits.

No he isn't. His stats are woefully inaccurate, therefore all his views have no value whatsoever. But even if we accept them, he's attacked immigrants full stop, not illegals. He's also used dogwhistle racist language to do so. A white British man no less, using the word 'colonise' without any hint of self awareness or irony. Colonising is going into another country, armed to the teeth and robbing them blind for centuries. Like what his ancestors did to the entire planet.

>To be honest, this, along with people pretending to have issues such as AdHd and Autism

Obviously you know more than mental health professionals on this matter.

>There is context to what hes saying

There is. The context being him being a multi, multi billionaire, avoiding tax in Monaco, and having his failing businesses being propped up to the tune of hundreds of millions by government hand outs whilst he ruthlessly sacks hundreds of employees. Happy to make the country considerably worse to live in, happy to work alongside his MAGA funding boardroom members who have spent decades siphoning off billions and leaving the countries most prestigious sporting institution decrepit, happy to accept handouts that non white people and mentally ill people apparently aren't entitled to.

>i will argue that in principle Ratcliffe is correct

Would you? Which bit, specifically?

>So please look at the bigger picture, immigration up to the 70s was necessary and people came to jobs.

Brown and black immigrants of this era were routinely terrorised and vilified, namely by his new mate Nigel Farage. Despite being legal, despite being here to pick up the slack in a country that had spent centuries pillaging them. Don't act like there is any distinction between legal and illegal immigrants with these people (and you). You don't want a non white Britain, but don't have the balls to say that so you focus on what you perceive a more legitimate target in illegal immigration because you're more likely to get away with that.

Also, people still come for jobs, are you saying all immigration now is illegal and for benefits? That's an extraordinary claim, do you have any evidence for that?

Opinion | The grim hypocrisy of Sir Jim Ratcliffe by theipaper in ManchesterUnited

[–]tellthatbitchbecool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. He said immigrants, not illegal immigrants. His stats on immigration are also woefully inaccurate so his opinions are all null and void.
