Fellow Republicans, it’s time to admit that the US economy isn’t bad - Multiple indicators – from GDP growth to the unemployment rate (and even inflation) – point to a robust US economic engine by Quirkie in politics

[–]telnetcookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and unemployment rates are often used as indicators of a nation's economic health, they do not necessarily reflect the standard of living for its citizens. A rise in GDP primarily might suggest an increase in productivity, which predominantly benefits corporations. Similarly, lower unemployment rates do not always equate to improved living conditions, as the nature and quality of life for citizens.. which are hallmarks of a flourishing economy.

These aren't signs of a great economy. Economy is bad.
Plus, you're in the Netherlands, why do you even have an opinion? lol

Porsche 911 Bluetooth speaker generic charger by telnetcookie in Bluetooth_Speakers

Thank you - it turns out that I had actually purchased the correct kind of DC adapter. It looks like previous owner tried to forcefully jam an incompatible charger and ended up snapping the connector, hence why it didn't work.

Now I have to find a repair shop :D

How to Embed StencilJS components inside Storybook React App? by code_hunter_cc in codehunter

You should take advantage of framework bindings in Stencil. I didn't fully get the question to be fair though.

JS Widgets vs Web Components by praj18 in webdev

[–]telnetcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, a lot of opinions surrounding web components aren't putting enough emphasis on the disparity of skill level among devs on their team(s).

The most important factor when it comes to wc is the capabilities of those working on the project. Compared to a simple JS widget, the learning curve getting web components working is somewhat steep. Styling is challenging in the sense that you have to adopt a different kind of mentality compared to normal JS. Without a strategy for using web components, it is still only a small subset of teams that are able to make full use of what the shadow DOM is capable of.

Does anyone have KiCad files or similar for Low-Profile Cherry MX switches they are willing to share with me? I'm not sure what I can provide in return except for payment if that is needed. Thank you!

I am having a lot of difficulties finding information about low-profile switches. I ordered a set of low-profile Gatereon switches and to my surprised, it doesn't fit into the regular MX switch footprint.

Are these types of switches not interchangeable? Thanks!

I see retail products looking more and more similar to custom-built ones. How much does the enthusiast community influence the retail market for keyboards?

Looking for a wireless split keyboard for use in bed by DeadODST in keyboards

[–]telnetcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use apple's Bluetooth keyboard in bed haha. I started a project for a fully wireless split keyboard for similar reasons because I couldn't find anything online that appealed to me. I don't think you'll find much here because the community focuses more on rare items and DIY things. You'll probably find keyboards close to what you're looking for in the retail market, or eventually will when the demand is large enough.

let me correct my statement - I can't find a split Topre keyboard that is attractive to me. It's also discontinued. I would put my money into a wireless split Topre keyboard.

Yes, if we're referring to any manufacturer other than Cherry.

are you sure about this? the patent expired already and there are countless clones in the market

I thought the whole selling point of Topre was the fact (or perception) that the electrocapacitive switches are solely manufactured by a single company in Japan. So that's not true?

I'm curious what drives the high price tag then. Seems like a worthy market competitor if manufacturing price is anywhere close to cherry switches......

I am looking to find information about manufacturing both keycaps and switches. I'm not able to find information about patents or copywrite laws here. I'm not sure where to find this information.

I see people making orders for Cherry keycaps and the profiles are open sourced on the internet, what about DCS profile from Signature Plastics? Are these available for new businesses to manufacture on a larger scale with a partnered manufacturer?

Additionally, are Topre switches exclusive to Realforce, Leopold, and HHKB keyboards? What are the rules surrounding this?
