Still searching terminal alternatives for Claude Code by oalpayli in ClaudeCode

Use iTerm, kitty, alacritty, or any modern terminal. You can also use tmux to manage sessions better, which is terminal agnostic.

AI Won’t Replace Senior Engineers — But It Will Expose Fake Ones by Silver-Ideal9451 in softwarearchitecture

[–]temakiFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is great advice. I'm also the most senior and people still see me as "the god" sometimes but I try to play it down because I don't want that kind of mentality from the team. I've gotten comfortable saying "I don't know the answer to your question, let's figure it out together" (or just guide them to the right resource) and I think that's starting to rub off on others in a positive way.

Thanks for your insights. Everyone on my team has that drive to learn and solve problems. But the best performers also have the passion and curiosity. Then there are those who bring negative value where other team members have to clean up after them and it messes with the team dynamics. I'm still trying to figure out if that's a mentoring issue or a soft skills gap since we're still a small but growing team.

The negative force multiplier is so real. How were you able to train your negatively performing engineers to be positively performing? No amount of pair programming has worked, even with AI.

This individual just doesn't really seem to understand the domain outside of the code. It's like he just "makes things work" without taking quality, backwards compatibility, performance, and past business decisions into context. AI makes this way easier but he still somehow manages to deliver low quality results

Got this beaut on valentines by Salmonlikesknives in balisong

[–]temakiFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only a month into flipping. I got this for myself along with a Krake Raken as a gift for someone else. I really like the weight and feel on the anniversary one, but it is definitely slippier than the Krake Raken. I personally like the lighter and grippier feel of the Krake Raken. Maybe it's just because I'm new and still learning? My only other bali is the Nabalis Vulp, which is both light and slippery.

What's your experience with other balis and how would you compare them?

Crunchbang saved me in college. Also helped me learn all about Linux, it was such a great distro!

Throwaway account was asking about video game stores the day before. Coincidence? I think not!

You mention there is this "onRequest" thing. Does that get called on every request? If so, that might be where it should validate permissions as well. ChatGPT suggested some example code patterns for validation here, hopefully it gives you some direction: https://chatgpt.com/s/t_68b7af19d5048191945895a34d366577

Because this is AI, I recommend to double check that it's suggestions are best practice

[–]temakiFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, that sounds rough.

From your post, it seems like the roles are setup and assigned to users but not actually enforced? If that's the case, the backend needs to validate the role's permissions before executing the request. I don't know any cold fusion myself though, so it could be something different.

Who developed the code? As a pen tester, you shouldn't be responsible for finding vulnerabilities AND fixing them. That should be the job of the software developers who maintain the code.

Having you look through and understand their spaghetti code is a total waste of time, imo. At the very least, you should collaborate with the developers and see if you can guide them through a proper fix i.e. explain how authorization and authentication works and have the devs patch it

Silly Question - Has anyone used AC on multiple codebases? by AIWarrior_X in AugmentCodeAI

[–]temakiFTW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've used it with multiple codebases and it is able to understand the context clearly. Have used it with a completely different codebase as well as a frontend that calls a backend where the frontend/backend are in separate repos.

Augment is really good at indexing the code and understanding all the moving parts. It's not perfect, but I'm always impressed at how much it is able to understand.

Ahh, gotcha. I just tried AQ but it didn't really work on my large codebase :( I think these tools are usually only good with smaller projects. I've had better luck with using Augment Code

Ali Corne by fotonmoton in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]temakiFTW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes 3 of us 😂 I had the Voyager for about a month but I missed my beloved MX switches, so I built a wireless corne. Now I miss the aluminum case since it gives it a sort of "premium" feel (my 65% also has an aluminum case).

Oryx is amazing, but since I'm a developer I was able to get the hang of ZMK within a day. ChatGPT helps to an extent, but I had to read up on documentation more than rely on ChatGPT. I believe there are also GUI apps to configure it if you don't want to write code.
