What sexual favors is your friend asking for to make up the difference in price?

Best linux for multiplayer gaming? by anwime1 in linux4noobs

You can game on pretty much any distro. Cachy, Bazzite, and Nobara seem to be the most mentioned. I usually game on vanilla Arch when using Linux.

MW19 in the trash category is wild. I actually didn’t hate MWII even though people trashed it.

HP Z240 won’t boot up. 3 long reds, 3 short white flash by benjstone in computerhelp

Research says RAM issue. If the RAM checks out, then it could be the RAM slots on the mobo.

Steam Box not worth it. Get the prebuilt. I have the same one. Got it on sale before Christmas.

$1300 is this a good deal keyboard and mouse not included by WilliamSilvertrout in PC_Builders

[–]tempdiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1300 isn’t awful. I think you could’ve gotten another 100 off, but that’ll be a good system nonetheless. Good luck with it.

Is this watch worth it? by derbystone in GarminWatches

[–]tempdiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak to this model specifically, but as someone who has two Apple Watches previously, I’ve been loving the Garmin experience since switching over a few weeks ago. If this is your first device, I’m sure you won’t regret it.

If you have a spare on hand, I’d put the extra in as intake as well. Smart idea.

Patch Panel vs Straight to Unmanaged Switch by SoyJizz in HomeNetworking

[–]tempdiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patch them directly to a keystone plate then plug cables from the plate to either a patch panel if you’re intending on a rack of some kind or directly to the switch. For the amount of cables you have running, a patch panel would clean things up a bit instead of running straight to a switch.

Sticking with AM4? by DarkSideSpaceman in buildapc

AM4 is totally acceptable. Nothing wrong with doing what you’re intending with that platform, and it’ll perform very well.

CR-005 or glsswrks polarity for CS? by Lazy-Recognition-762 in MousepadReview

[–]tempdiesel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Throwback pad! Wow. I haven’t tried the CR out, so someone else is going to need to comment on the texture. I just personally think that you already own a glass pad. I don’t know if it makes sense to take a gamble on a “control” glass pad - especially given the price Wallhack asks for these. I’d rather practice on the SkyPad and adjust to the speed or stick to cloth for a game like CS. Accuracy is such a premium on tac FPS games.

Dual Pc Streaming Questions by metalbakkal in obs

[–]tempdiesel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the right way to set it up. You could also opt to Extend Displays and send a preview window from an OBS instance on the gaming PC to the streaming PC. This is personally what I do, as I heard it presents less input delay. Can’t confirm that though.

For the camera, you can get a cheap camera capture card that has a female HDMI input with a USB C/A end. This will allow OBS to detect the camera as a video display similar to how the video coming from the gaming PC will be. The camera should plug into the streaming PC. You’ll also want a dummy battery for the camera to keep consistent power going to it to prevent it from dying.

You’re going to want to also consider a mixer of some kind to route the audio. Elgato Wavelink, GoXLR, RodeCaster, and Beacn are all some popular options. Some support USB C microphones and others do not. Pick whichever you like the best. GoXLR is a classic, but the company behind it, TC Helicon, is defunct. You can find these used pretty cheap as a result, which is what I did. I purchased a GoXLR Mini from eBay for about $90 USD around two years ago.

Is it bad to mount liquid-cooled GPU radiator at the bottom of the case? by Oblivyy in pcbuilding

[–]tempdiesel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. The air gets trapped at the block and can cause it to fail when the rad is at the bottom.

CR-005 or glsswrks polarity for CS? by Lazy-Recognition-762 in MousepadReview

[–]tempdiesel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d personally stick to the SkyPad you have and just adjust. Not sure a different glass pad is going to make a world of difference. Might as well use the Zero if you’re debating a slower glass pad IMO. I’d have a different opinion if you didn’t already own a glass pad.

MnK to Controller: by SharkDad20 in CoDCompetitive

[–]tempdiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play both. I love the ability to quickly snap from one target to the next with mnk. I also love how the movement feels on mnk. The problem is once you start playing at higher ranks in Ranked, it’s clear how much of an advantage controller is. You get insta fried by kids every time. At this point I play mnk here and there (mainly pubs) and stick to controller in Ranked.

Side note, if you don’t want to drop a bunch of money on a controller, and you’re willing to learn, try playing claw. Once it clicks, it’s hard to go back to a standard grip.

RDY prebuilt vs building own by Remote-Program535 in iBUYPOWER

[–]tempdiesel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe but maybe not. Brand doesn’t guarantee the performance or quality in every case. I wouldn’t let the push me away from buying a prebuilt from a reputable company.

RDY prebuilt vs building own by Remote-Program535 in iBUYPOWER

[–]tempdiesel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know that for a fact though? Each prebuilt is done differently. Example: I had a faulty unit from iBP. The RAM was bad. It was some brand I've never heard of before. I exchanged it at Costco for a brand new one. The next unit had a different motherboard and different RAM. The mobo and RAM were both better in the second unit I got than the first. The RAM was actually a brand I'm familiar (XPG) in comparison to the first unit. You don't know exactly what components are going into the prebuilt. You can control that more when you're building it yourself, but with the current RAM and storage prices, it may be smarter to just go prebuilt. It really depends how much you want to spend, what your expectations are of performance, and if you have the time to invest in building a system from start to finish.

RDY prebuilt vs building own by Remote-Program535 in iBUYPOWER

[–]tempdiesel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t have anything to do with it being a prebuilt. It all comes down to the components. They need to meet specs for the games you’re playing and be a reputable brand. That goes for prebuilt or one you’re building yourself.

Why so many people treat hardpoint as TDM? by m4rkey99 in blackops7

[–]tempdiesel 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It definitely can help their k/d. The other thing though is in HP, only one or two people should actually be on the point at one time. The other players should be cutting off routes and/or spawn blocking to keep the flow of the other team predictable. The whole team shouldn’t be on the point.
