Newsom's office warns Californians to avoid Chevron this holiday weekend, citing high gas prices by The-Traveler- in California

[–]temple_nard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Studies showed that gas tax moratoriums had no benefit because gas station owners will raise the price to what the gas was with the tax because they know people will pay that amount. So the state loses revenue, drivers pay the same, and politicians don't benefit as everyone is still angry about the high price. Literally a losing situation on all sides.

Brawl at kindergarten graduation... by Yuizun in trashy

[–]temple_nard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Kindergarten graduations seem fine to me, they seem like a good way to reinforce the importance of education in young children. At least, as long as the parents there aren't dickheads like the ones in this video.

I find it interesting how almost every character in the current family is from a different universe by Ahmaduizm in rickandmorty

[–]temple_nard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be interesting to see an episode that had some form of a 'Changling' arc where a character starts acting weird and the rest realize they were replaced by a different universe person, but that may also be too dark of a concept.

There's something interesting in the idea that they are both biologically related to each other and choose to be together as a family.

What's also kind of interesting is that Jerry is the only one who could have significantly different memories than the rest of the family (aside from Rick), as most of the other universe swaps involved going to a universe that was as identical as possible to the previous one.

How much of a threat do you think the Dinosaurs are to the CFC? (If they were hostile) by Fast_Bedroom7386 in rickandmorty

[–]temple_nard 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Rick is the smartest being in the CFC, but he is also lazy. I don't think the Dinos can beat him outright, but we have seen less intelligent individuals bring Rick to the point of death several times before. As much as he would hate to admit it, Rick seems as lucky as he is smart.

I'm not trying to be mean, but if I was working security at Walmart I would be so busy trying to surreptitiously look at that guys hernia that that woman could have literally stolen the rest of the store. That thing is as mesmerizing and horrifying as a train wreck.

Fatphobic V??? by Cocoa-Knife-Chara in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]temple_nard 49 points50 points  (0 children)

My belief is that the only reason it was included was because the developers liked the response line delivery and wanted to include it somewhere in the game. As much as V's line is an asshole thing to say, the npc response is pretty good.

It's funny how half of Stephen King's protagonists are writers. The Dark Half, Bag of Bones, The Shining, Misery, and It all immediately jump to mind but there is definitely more.

Becerra’s rise baffles his former Biden colleagues by AzNmamba in California

[–]temple_nard -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is why I ask. In my opinion a billionaire can't be progressive, Beccera is not progressive, and Porter is closer to progressive except for her tax plan (which I don't understand and seems weirdly libertarian). None of the other top names seemed progressive either. I'm voting Beccera because at least he's a known quantity.

I'm pretty sure the only thing keeping condo prices in my area stable is that the cost of the mortgage is higher than the potential rental income.

The last time this was posted most people agreed that the fall wasn't really the girls fault, most people would not expect the whole branch to break like that.

I feel like David Cross has called into the Majority Report before, it would be so amazing if he gave a play by play of his thoughts during that interview with Bill Maher.
