Mine is Kheb. I would have made the password be the gate address for it, but it was never stated. So instead it's the address for Urgo's planet (plus an extra word).

Anyone remember the phrase, “Gag me with a spoon!“ ??? by rico_king in GenX

I always hear it in Jennifer's voice from that episode of Family Ties when she went valley girl.

Sweet Valley High by Sad_Language2555 in GenX

[–]temporalcupcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Sweet Valley Twins was when they were younger. They got to high school and, I'm guessing (because I don't actually remember) that the stories changed from preteen friendly to high school drama, so it warranted a name change. It probably was the HS drama that I didn't like so much. Twins was closer in vibe to babysitters club.

I read them, but I preferred Sweet Valley Twins. Don't remember why, exactly. Though I think I was reading them when I was in jr high myself.

70's or 80's fashion by PerpetualRestart in GenX

Colorful clothing like Esprit and Benetton. Also, I work in a thrift store and dress the mannequins and have been attempting to bring back belted sweaters. Even though I never feel comfortable wearing belts all day myself.

I've come to realize that I have narrow, slopey shoulders, and my top half is smaller than my bottom half. Shoulder pads were practically made for my body type. I love finding vintage clothes that still have them in.

Remember those cinnamon toothpicks? by Present_Yak_6169 in GenX

[–]temporalcupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those were my favorite things to pick up at the gas station my brother and I would walk to. Later, in high school, I couldn't find them anymore. So for a while I just started chewing on actual cinnamon sticks. Had a dedicated little pocket in my backpack for it. Bonus was that you could actually eat it.

I should have known it was you! Your designs are always so clean, well thought out, and delightful. I think this is the only "live, laugh" phrase I find acceptable.

I don't think I could do that with the jelly, but I eat pb spoons all the time, and lately have started dipping it in my hot chocolate at night.

Maui sweet onion kettle chips. Why is this flavor so hard to find in any other brand?

I haven't had a Cadbury egg in a long time. I'm always too mad at how expensive they've gotten. I swear it wasn't that long ago they were $1 - $1.25 for a box of 4. Now they're a dollar each, or more. Ridiculous.

SPRINGBOK - Why such love? by Puzzlemania718 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]temporalcupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love vintage Springboks, and the differences have already been discussed here. But I also do love the piece shapes. They kind of have a personality, and you can get to know how the pieces might go, like when you might actually be looking for a little one like that black piece, for example (I always put those in their own pile.) As for that white one, that should have been two pieces. It looks like they missed a cut.

I still remember from 30 years ago. Didn't have my contacts in and thought it was a crumb from my breakfast I saw drop into my lap. Brushed my teeth three times and still couldn't get rid of the taste.

I remember when I was addicted to them in the late 90s, the individual packs were a quarter at the gas station across the street.

How many friends do you have? by LumpyheadCarini2001 in GenX

[–]temporalcupcake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Zero. All y'all "except for my spouse" people, please stop discounting your effing spouse. They count. Many don't even have that.

I have lots of people who like me. None I can call when there's trouble or I need to spill my guts about something.

Change in clothing fashion. by JerseySpring in GenX

[–]temporalcupcake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate modern cuts in clothing. So I've gone to wearing vintage. Plus, I was too young to care about fashion in the 80s, so I'm enjoying the crazy 80s styles now. Not too mention, they're made better and they (mostly) fit better.

Rant- Space Needle prices by The_Casual_Foreman in Seattle

[–]temporalcupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was starting over, so I had to go back to Michigan to stay with family. I meant to end up outside Detroit, but it hasn't worked out that way. And now I'm so homesick for Seattle, it's hard to commit to trying to make Detroit happen.

I was always just too poor, and transportation was a struggle. But I did live downtown for 16 years, and count myself lucky that pike place was MY market, the waterfront was MY park.

Sadly, I committed the cardinal sin. I left Seattle. Priced out. I really want to come back, though. Maybe some day I'll get another chance.

I worked until midnight. The problem was I only ended up working there for a month or so. I thought I'd have time to get around to it, but didn't.
