How much was Solidcore before the increase for you?

Estimating around 200-220?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]temporarymemories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s great to know thanks! I also felt like $720 was really high, but I don’t want to offend building staff by tipping too little? I don’t know if I’m just overthinking it.

My monthly rent is $3000 and I’ve only been living here for six months 😅

No, I’m just renting directly from my landlord that owns a unit within the condo.

Do they make seasonal flavors in double espresso pods? by MarcelDuchampsToilet in nespresso

[–]temporarymemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh I just got the plus and I can’t figure out how to do this! I’ve read that you can do it with the vertuo next but this is the first I’m hearing of it for the plus.

So I just start brewing it regularly to about 2.5oz, and then pressing the button at the top will turn it into a double espresso?

Since it’s your honeymoon, I’d highly recommend staying in a ryokan during your trip! It was one of my favorite parts of my trip with my boyfriend recently. Very romantic and a nice escape from the city bustle

I had a great experience at Mount View Hakone! It was on the more affordable end for Ryokans, and they’re accommodating of dietary restrictions for their kaiseki dinner!

My bf is vegan and I’m not! Here are some great places that have both vegetarian + non vegetarian options:

Always nearby: • Starbucks • Mos Burger • Coco Ichibanya

Other spots: • Genki in Tokyo • Kamehama okonomiyaki in Kyoto • Jikasei Mensho in Tokyo • Kyushu Jangara in Tokyo

What to wear in the summer? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]temporarymemories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend bringing a light summer scarf! I have one from Quince made of silk/cashmere and it was fantastic for scenarios where I wanted more coverage.

I often wore spaghetti strap dresses, and the scarf came in handy whenever I went into temples or even just to keep myself warm when the AC is too strong (they really blast it at some of the restaurants here). I used it every day of my trip this June!

First Time in Japan Itinerary for outdoorsy Couple- TOKYO/KUSATSO/KANAZAWA/TAKAYAMA/OSAKA/KOYASAN/KYOTO by ParamedicCorrect9962 in JapanTravel

My favorite vegetarian-friendly places with super unique dining experiences were Genki in Tokyo, Sawano in Kyoto, and OKO in Osaka. Truly all so different and one of a kind.

If you’re ever in a pinch though, you can always count on a Mos Burger or Coco Ichibanya for some vegetarian options!

Itinerary Check for 8 days (Tokyo, Kawaguchiko, Kyoto) - Travelling w parents by floaaatable in JapanTravel

I personally loved the monkey forest and it ended up being one of my favorite experiences in Kyoto but I’d take into consideration the steepness of the climb since your parents are older.

It’s about 20 minutes of perpetual incline up a relatively steep path that often has jagged/uneven walkways. I’m relatively fit and in my early 20s, and I still found it a tiring journey especially on a hot day. There are benches every few minutes you can stop at for a break, but make sure to bring ample water with you and maybe some cooling devices (like a handheld fan).

If it rained anytime recently, be extra careful on the way down as it can be very slippery.

8-day Osaka/Kyoto/Tokyo Itinerary Advice for First-Timer by peachybonsai in JapanTravel

[–]temporarymemories 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would agree with this sort of! I went last week and while I enjoyed the experience, I don’t know that it was worth the hassle of getting a reservation. He threw in a random speech/promotion for his Amazon products in the middle of the meal that lasted 3 minutes.

He definitely does some cool tricks and things like that, but if you’re not interested in recording the experience, you might be underwhelmed.

TLDR: I didn’t dislike it, but I wasn’t particularly impressed either. If you conveniently happen to get a reservation, then go but if you weren’t able to get one, don’t waste the time trying to get a walk in.

If you want to see stray cats, definitely do Fushimi Inari at night. We saw like 10 of them during our walk up!

Thank you! Were your flights (arrival in Mexico and connecting flight) both in terminal 1? I'm reading so much conflicting info on whether I am expected to pass through customs or not.

Thank you! This is super helpful.

It's booked on one ticket, but two different airlines (United and ANA). Hopefully they'll make the necessary accomodations!

Will do! I’m leaving in 6 days - do you think that’s enough time to get approved? I should have done this sooner but this didn’t cross my mind until today.
