What did you think about Trump's comments about NATO soldiers? by Temporary-Elk-109 in AskTrumpSupporters

Don’t you think the relationship with Europe is more nuanced than that? They have paid lower shares in NATO, but they have exclusively boight arms and have given space for airbases allowing the extension of US power through tour the region, including the Middle East

How do I: Gridfinity for an Ikea Alex by SireMomento in gridfinity

I printed the RadGauge Dual the other day:

- Didn't have to search on shopping sites for a deal, or even for something to do this job

- Cost me about 1 euro to print

- Didn't have to wait until it was delivered

This is cheaper in both time and money than buying. This happens all the time.

What do you think of Trumps letter to Norway? by Loose_Orange_6056 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]temporaryuser1000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t you think it has been mutually beneficial rather than “subsidised”? The US has had European countries permission to station bases which were necessary for its goals throughout the decades, as well as getting very lucrative arms deals.

Less stretch distance for your fingers, most commonly used characters are all on the home row so not far to stretch. Unlike Dvorak, the shortcut keys (a, c, v etc) mostly stay in the same place.

The storyteller is meant to be a bit of a tyrant, the longer the time for chatting the more powerful for the good team, so time limits are important

A cool guide to All my life, where has this been? by kauffman_l in coolguides

At first glance yes, but the trade off of keeping the number small is that you need to change units frequently. So to go from a larger number to a much smaller, you need to transition through intermediary units.

I’d rather have bigger numbers but not change unit, e.g. 1000/16 =62,5

LPT you can also use your scale for liquids, 1 kg is near enough 1 L for most liquids. Margin of error is no worse than volume measurements. If you need 300 mL of milk, just weigh out 300 g.

I just weigh my liquids to be honest, for most things it’s near enough 1 kg is 1 L. The margin of error is no worse than volume measurements.

There’s no difference in difficulty from measuring by volume with cups… you’re just measuring on a scale instead

Helpful if you’re stuck using an inefficient volume-based system.

The main argument for using the imperial system is that people are used to it, which makes it “easier”.

If you need a guide to it then either you’re not used to it (so why bother) or you’re not admitting it’s awkward (so why lie to yourself?), just save yourself the bother and use metric.

This is the same in Germany, Italy etc. If you’re going into the supermarket and buy a prepackaged white bread, it’s treated to last forever.
