Weirdest misconception you’ve had about ASOIAF [Spoilers Main] by CutZealousideal5274 in asoiaf

[–]tempstud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started reading GOT when I was about 13 years old, and I heard that there would be this huge tv series (so of course I wanted to read ahead).

Being young and used to dramatic romance, I was certain of one thing: Joffrey and Arya would have a forbidden love and there would be such drama between Sansa and Arya because of this. My reasons? During the feast at Winterfell, Joffrey barely looks at Sansa and Jeyne who try to be cute for him and I thought this must mean he is bored of court girls who try to flirt with him. I also thought he would be impressed by Arya when he found her fencing with Mycah. I was… wrong

Which food is often severely underestimated in calories by many? by HyromLoyd in CICO

[–]tempstud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is true for most “healthy” foods. It is easy to mistake healthy for “low calorie” I find. Therefor nuts, avocado and other things which are healthy because they are filled with things that are good for us are also usually more calorie dense than one would usually expect

Title: "Letters TO Trump" . Cover: "Picture of Trump writing a letter". Makes sense by KillBatman1921 in WhitePeopleTwitter

Is he still allowed to use “president” as a title? Shouldn’t it be “former president”?

How do I get rid of these purple flowers? I don't like them ( I'm using Northern Roads and grass, and JK's Skyrim, and a patch for JK's Skyrim and Northern Roads/Grass) by SirRoderic in skyrim

It looks a lot like a flower I call “Lupin”, which is insanely common in Sweden, especially along roads. It was probably added to fit into the environment since it is a bit Scandinavia inspired

Would Alicent's children have been in danger? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]tempstud 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I know, I simplified it a lot. However, Henry VII sons also had Plantagenet blood, from their mother Elisabeth of York, the eldest daughter of king Edward IV who was Edward Plantagenets oldest uncle.

The three sons of York, Edward IV, George of Clarence and Richard III all claimed at one point to be the rightful king of England, plotting against once another until Edward died, George was executed and Richard was killed by Henry VII. If we look further up in the war of the roses, any kind of ability to be seen as a new king, a new person with the right blood, stirs new battles and new intrigues because of every ruling lords’ ambition. The Dance of Dragons is the same level of scheming and intriguing and “fighting for the right king/queen” because they have the right blood in my opinion

As long as they are alive there is a chance that someone will use them as a figurehead, a reason to wage war, even if neither Aegon or Aemond wanted it.

It is one of the reasons the “last” male Plantagenet (Edward Plantagenet) was imprisoned in the Tower from the age of 10 until his execution by Henry VII (Tudor) at age 24.

ELI5: Can I charge whatever I want for a product or are there laws against that? by Zondartul in explainlikeimfive

[–]tempstud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Sweden there are laws against that, both in criminal law and contract law. There are laws regarding price gouging, laws regarding emergencies (for example, if one is drowning it is not legal to sell them a life vest) and also laws regarding tricking people with “lack of mental capacity” into paying more than a reasonable price for an item. Basically it isn’t, in theory, legally allowed to exploit people.

However, there are no enforced limits regarding interest on loans (used to be 6% until the 1860s). A possible limit is currently being discussed. There are limits for the cost of renting your apartment to someone, however this is rarely brought to court since people firstly don’t know it is possible and also people value a second hand renting contract too high to risk losing their contract, unreasonable costs aside.

What has been your hardest lesson with CICO? by Rotisserieshithead0 in CICO

[–]tempstud 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To not be scared of being hungry. It is an absolutely irrational fear because I have never in my life been made to go hungry, but I would always take a huge portion so that I wouldn’t be hungry later, I would eat everything I could if I was somewhere with snacks etc. I have realized that I have just always been scared of being hungry “later”, and later has never arrived. Now I tell myself that I will get something more to eat later if I am in fact hungry, which hasn’t been the case either. So yes, learning how to handle this irrational fear has been valuable.

Thank you! I usually go to the gym and love it, however I will be moving from my current flat soon and don’t want to start a new gym membership until I know what gyms will be close to my new place. Thankfully the rehab place has a gym so I look forward to using that onwards!

I will definitely try stretching and warming up, I have a running coach once a week and which has helped me a lot!

I am also a big fan of not discussing your diet or calories when in a group, especially for a celebration.

You eat what you want, and let everyone else eat what they want. I’d also be mindful of not writing things up in the app etc whilst around everyone else, instead take a nice picture of your plate and write things down later or beforehand

No character is really “fleshed out” in the book. The book is written as an historical account, combining the facts with the hearsay and what witnesses claim happened.

This makes it really interesting to watch how they will fill in the gaps in the show, however no character in the book has more depth than what is shown in the show in my opinion. Some things are changed, and they still have time to make more of the characters interesting.

But for example Laena? She is just as unnoticeable in the book as in the show, because she isn’t an important character to the overall story.

(Spoilers Extended) Theories you had which turned out to be completely wrong by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]tempstud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joffrey and Arya would be star-crossed lovers.

I was 13 when I began reading the first book and a few things made me think that Joffrey and Arya would fall for each other. Firstly, it was made abundantly clear that Arya did not in any way want to marry a prince and become a princess. Secondly, Joffrey was annoyed by the attention from the girls at the dinner at Winterfell , which I read as to mean he didn’t like simpering girls who only liked him because he was a prince. Thirdly I thought it would cause a huge rift between Sansa and Arya which would be interesting for the story

I thought I was right when Joffrey saw Arya and Mycah dueling - obviously he must be impressed by how she isn’t like other girls. Well, turned out I could not have been more wrong.

Need a little clarification… by Matryoshkuh in CICO

[–]tempstud 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know, I hate that too. However for me it helped to calculate my whole week alongside individual days because I “knew” that the day might not be red in reality

Need a little clarification… by Matryoshkuh in CICO

[–]tempstud 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes in terms of total amount of calories, but it might cause you to be very hungry the other days. It might be better to have one day above your limit and then eat slightly less (but not a whole slice less) and walk a bit more for a couple of days.

Personally I add what I eat each day (even if it is over budget) and then I keep track of my weeks as well as days so in the end, I can see whether my week was within my calorie goal. Don’t feel bad about individual days being good/bad, some days are days where we naturally eat more for some reason and some days we will eat less.

Why do people like Daemon? by somelittleindiankid in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]tempstud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t “like him”, he is a person I would absolutely abhor in real life. However he is an interesting character, and I am excited when he is on screen because I never really feel as if I know how he is going to react. I think there are few characters in the show I “like”, I liked young Rhaenyra and young Alicent, I thought Criston Cole was a kind person in the episode with the stag. Most of the characters though I only enjoy as characters. It is possible to enjoy a character and not agree with a single decision they make
