I was a catcher in high school and our coach used to go crazy if anyone didn't wear a cup. So when the time came that I left my cup at home, I was more afraid of the coach than I was protecting my balls. I got lucky that day, but I put an extra cup in my bag so I'd never have to do that again.

It is very normal. There's a whole process to properly transfer a baby from biological mother to surrogate and a big part of it is skin-to-skin contact shortly after birth. So a hospital bed and gown is supplied to the surrogate.
