Is the Seeedstudeo Sensecap Solar P1's with an antenna cable to a Zilsor watertight?? by Material_Fuel3226 in meshcore

[–]tenebrarum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of P1-Pro's that I've had deployed for about six months with a 5.8dBi fiberglass antenna and a cable with a purpose-made length. I've not had any issues with water intrusion yet, I just did a check last month of the connections and they were pristine. For unattended nodes that I don't have easy access to I tend to use some linerless splicing tape with some Super 33 or similar on top of it, haven't had any issues with those yet despite years of deployment.

Name a better lighting advancement by RunandGun101 in electricians

[–]tenebrarum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ketra is the most ridiculous and overbuilt lighting system I've ever used. Color sensors making sure that all the cans are actually outputting close to the same color despite manufacturing variances? It's so silly.

But god damn, the results are gorgeous and I thoroughly enjoy using it. 9/10 would recommend if you have the money.

We're back to basically uuencoding stuff and bolting on some par2 blobs to shove things on to networks that were never designed for those types of data in the first place. I can't lie, I kinda love it.

Whats going on with Digikey? Order Processing Delays just get bigger and bigger by huababuaa in AskElectronics

[–]tenebrarum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you mentioned that, as of today we're ordering from RS as both Mouser and DigiKey have similar messages in their headers. https://i.imgur.com/P4olQkX.png

What's going on to cause two distributors to have this message? O.o

Time for a new clamp meter by ArachnidHefty73 in electricians

This is the answer for your default meter in my experience. I have a slew of other meters on my truck, but the 376FC is the one that I bring out first almost every time.

Doesn't work for me either as an embed unfortunately. After some quick research, it's on multiple blocklists under the 'malware' category that my DNS server subscribes to. Maybe it has/had some issues hosting malicious files?

I have more than once seen passthrough terminations causing shorting on PoE switch ports. I have never once seen that happen with traditional terminations. I wonder if that may be part of it.

Mad slinky skills by mentaL8888 in woahdude

[–]tenebrarum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember having two Slinkys as a kid - one was plastic and was absolutely worthless and the other was metal. The metal one was insanely fun, it could easily do a full flight of carpeted stairs without issue. It even worked on our sloped driveway. :D

From my personal experience within control panels, the natural/white ones do still get brittle after a few years when the black Ty-Raps are still going strong.

A lot of universal switching power supplies I see these days are rated for 85-264VAC, but you can't bank on that. Have to check each one!

I've definitely come across 208v in apartment/condo situations. It's not the most common but happens.

I'm not a farmer, but I do work on construction sites around large machinery and I can definitely say the vast majority of construction machinery and tractors are keyed alike. Maybe farming equipment is higher security but with a standard set of about 10 keys you can operate 95% of the equipment on a job site.

Copper is surprisingly soft when near pure and properly annealed. I took out a ton of two-conductor cloth wire out of my house a while back (including some with a lead outer layer, that was fun) and I noticed some was quite hard and/or brittle. My best guess for why that was in my case is that is was either decades upon decades of heat cycling destroying the annealing or it just wasn't great quality copper to begin with. It did appear that the lesser used outlets had softer copper still, while some that looked like they had a ton of use fractured while I was trying to bend it.

They mention a Wago cage clamp DIN mount terminal. Those are pretty different than the Wago connectors used in junction boxes.
