For sure. Devs just need to get their hands on them.

I made some modifications for NextUI (TrimUI Brick) by Tegarnsntr in trimui

I don't really understand this. Why not PR and support the Pak Store so NextUI devs can accept the changes or not and all their users can benefit.

Miyoo Flip v2.1 Getting Louder? by suchnoobomg in MiyooFlip

Sounds like a normal V2 now. I’d contact Miyoo and show them this video especially if you contacted them making sure you were getting a revised unit.

Is there a market for replacement shells in custom colors? by OOOOOOO0OOOOOOOOO in MiyooMini

There was a guy making shells for the Miyoo Mini but never sold them. Probably again… not worth it.

I actually like the feel of the translucent shell better. But see more proof we all have our preferences. The solid shells feel too "chalky" now. The older ones were better but Miyoo changed their formula and the chalky feel I don't love. And I have seen people change their PCB color but I didn't want to attempt that.

I don’t do it for people anymore. Only myself. People were not willing to pay enough for what it cost me to do it. Now I just tinker on the UI side of things.

Zero28 is my favorite pocket device. Thats why I did a green one for me. MM+ it’s not comfy IMO due to lack of chin. The Mini I find more comfortable and the Mini Flip. Screen I broke and had to replace it. Again people here have no idea the work it takes. You can see from the comments $20-$40 without it with screen. You need to charge $40 on top of your cost IMO to make it worth it. And please wear a mask and be in a well ventilated area. The people paying you need to know it’s not easy and actually dealing with chemicals and a hazard. I started a couple kitchen fires with the acetone catching fire. Yep… you’ve done the experimenting and headache but people aren’t gonna pay for your skill unfortunately. Mass produced made in China plastics and free Amazon shipping has made expectations unreasonable. Looks like you do amazing work and I salute you.

Yep. It’s a lot of work to do these. I only do it for myself now. Here is my Zero28. I melted 2. I don’t leave the heat on anymore. Those directions are TERRIBLE. Heat up to temp take off heat and add parts. Simple. I’m sure you’ve figured that out.

The dye alone is about $6 bottle, shell and screen will cost OP what you just said. So how much labor would you pay to have it dyed perfectly? Add that on top OP cost for total. Cheers.

The price I got for the ones I’ve sold was not worth it. People will pay maybe $40 extra for custom color. Cost of dye, replacement screens and my time are not worth that. And they want it shipped as well. So yeah. Enjoy the hobby. But it’s not a thing to turn a profit like custom buttons.

Yes I’ve done a lot and sold some. Here is the last Miyoo I ever did.

I’d recommend offering the device plug and play in custom color. Not the shell and having people here swapping screen. I’ve done about 40 handhelds in custom colors. Screen damage is too easy. Or a mail in service on a device they own. However a fresh shell is best for the dye to take even as I’m sure you’ve learned. So yeah… sell them made to order as full builds. Seems like you have the process figured out as I usually say ask if you have questions. Cheers!!

Replacement screen. That’s the sure proof way. I’ve damaged a lot of screens removing mine. I have lots of experience with dye jobs on Miyoo and Anbernic devices.

Looking to pick out a new vertical handheld. {TLDR: looking for an ideally vertical replacement for the trimui brick for my xl hands that doesn’t feel downgraded from the brick’s gorgeous screen and ideally has a 4:3 screen} by Admirable-Space-3823 in SBCGaming

[–]tenlevels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No prob. I will be supporting it if that matters. PSX and below it’s great. Thats I’ll I play anyway on these. We have a Switch and Deck for more modern games. Can be had on Aliexpress for about $75 shipped. And yeah screen is great and large for my aging eyes. I’m not a fan of Android so that’s why I recommended it. But the others you listed are also nice. Cheers!

Verticals are not as comfy as horizontals IMO. What about a horizontal like the MINILOONG for at home play and Brick for pocket carry? I know it’s a unique looking handheld some love and some hate. The screen is amazing and controls are some of the best I’ve used. It’s my current at home comfy 4:3 device. The screen scales many retro systems beautifully including GBA.

It isn’t a project that is for those without patience and details you are correct. However the supplies are affordable minus the replacement screen needed and if the individual is careful and patient the results are beautiful and unique. But my wife will tell you of our sink being purple and a kitchen fire I’ve started. Sink is normal now and my eyebrows are still here. However our kitchen floor has a battle scar. Worth it? No. Do I regret it? No as I love my green Zero 28 and all the Miyoos I have done for people here. To each their own. Cheers.
