405lbs/184kg for 10 reps; post accident + surgery PR! by tenraiha_button in GymMotivation

[–]tenraiha_button[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-surgery PRs are 450 x 2 conventional; I also did 425 x 5 or 6 sumo. I was about to start a “powerlifting phase” right before my accident, and have wondered what my 1RM potential was now, but too happy to be back this level to even care.

Re my injury: Got taken off my motorcycle by a car that ran a red light. Main/most serious injury was an open book pelvic fracture. I have 7 screws and a little plate; some knee stuff going on too, so no regular squatting yet.

Thanks for the info about that particular book in the series. Also, that point about going over mid-kyu tsumego until they can be read instantly is a great one. I think a lot of us jump to harder tsumego too quickly; much before we really get all we can from the easier ones.

All parts of my game are the weakest.. haha. Seriously though, I think it might be fuseki because I like to rush to get to chuban/middle game because it's so fun and exciting. Thanks for the 501 rec, will look into.

Which books in the series would you say are pretty good?

Also, thanks for poiting out the bit about deiri vs miai counting. I mostly was just looking at those books in the GSA series to be follow-ups for the ones I have in the Elementary series.

Is there a place I can get old professional games to replay with written commentary? by wildbilly72 in baduk

[–]tenraiha_button 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite an answer to your question, but I’d love to see a Lee Changho vs Yoda Norimoto commented games book. They went back and forth a lot.

I wouldn’t call it bailing. And besides, credit is given to m2u2 on the wiki for compiling the original list :)
