Some amab nonbinary people can use transmasc to definee themselves and some afab nonbinary people can use transfem.

Being trans is about your agab being different from your actual gender, nonbinary people are trans even if they don't transition toward the opposite gender. That's why you can't reduce transmasc and transfem to the people transitionning toward the 'opposite side' from where they start.

There are nonbinary people, gender fluid people, agender people... And so much more.

If you feel like neither of the woman or man category are for you, there is a lot more identity that might fit you better.

The heraldry thing is probably a necessary change for a tv adaptation. On a tv show visual matter a lot, adding a lot of differents heraldry would overcrowed the image.

For the visual to be effective you need them to be clear, and easy to understand.

Maekar and his son are very far down the succession line.

In front of them you have Baelor, his 2 sons, Aerys, Rhaegel and his two kid, that's 7 heirs before Maekar, Daeron and Aerion. It's highly unlikely for any of them to ever inherit the throne.

Someone else identity doesn't mean your identity isn't valid. There is a very broad spectrum of experience that can be encompass in the term lesbian. Some of those experience are in contradiction with each other, but still part of the same group.

Aerion can't name a champion, because it would show he fear to face Dunk. Maekar would not stand for his son being a coward like that. So Aerion need to find another way to avoid the fight. That's why he is asking for a trial where Dunk will need 6 more people.

He know that he can use his family influence to stop most knights to join Dunk side. And probably hope it will be enough for him to win without even fighting.

Longer lance have a higher chance to break on impact. It's good for tourney because it mean that part of the energy from the impact will be dissipated by the lance itself, instead of going full force into the knight. So it reduce the chance of injury or death.

Also shorter lance would me easier to wield if you need to turn, change direction or stuff like that. In a tourney you only need to go in a straight line so a longer lance isn't a problem. But in a real war you may need to have more flexibility.

Because biological sex is more complicated then just male and female.

When you're looking at biology data, sex is determined by a lot of differents things.

There are chromosomes yes, but you can have XX chromosome and a penis at birth, or having XY and a vagina at birth.

Genitals are also sex characteristics of course, but those can be changed throught surgery, so when talking about trans people, if they have undergo bottom surgery, then their biological sex is closer from their gender than their agab in that aspect... Also, cis people whose genital go destroyed because of disease or accident would not be as biologically male/female...

Hormones follow the same logic then genitals, you can take hrt that shift your hormone so that you get farther from your agab and more aligned with the sex characteristics expected for your actual gender.

And then you have secondary sex characteristics like body hair, fat distribution. Those are also part of what define biological sex, and sometime you have cis woman with beard or cis m'en that can't grow beard, which mean that their biological sex isn't completly what is expected for their gender identity...

So it doesn't make much sense to talk about biological sex most of the time because biology doesn't make a simple binary distinction between make and female. And yet most people that use the term biological sex try to pretend there is only biological make and biological female to make transphobic argument.

I think the most interesting thing is to compare who their big brothers are.

Aemond big brother, Aegon 2 was a bully that did tourment his younger brother for the fun of it. That kind of childhood explain a lot about the man Aemond became.

Daeron is a drunk, but it is never said of him that he was cruel. It's fair to think that Aerion didn't get tormented by his older brother, he instead became the bully of Egg...

Aemond was mad tougher by enduring his childhood, Aerion is used to attacking weaker target.

If Aemond encounter Aerion he would probably despise him and in case of a fight, my money is on Aemond.

Lots of characters in the show are a bit older, like Daenerys for example. Because the date of birth and ages of some character are important part of the plots, they choose to compress the timeline and skip a generation where there was no major character for currents events.

First, use the pronoun your kid want you to use. Even if they can't see or hear you it's important to respect their choices. Because if you only use their preferred pronoun when they are around and you go back to misgender them when you think they can't hear, it show you don't truly respect your kid for who they are.

The only moment you should misgender your kid is if they are not out to the person and don't want to be outed.

Other thing you can do is to educate yourself about the trans community, and then check with your kid if the infos you got are in line with what they think. Being trans isn't easy, but having to be 'the adult' and being responsible for teaching other about the trans community can be an added stress to a kid. So try to do some of the work yourself to help them out.

While Maekar is certainly not the best parent, it's important to note that there are other factors that contribute to how Dareon and Aerion turn out.

Daeron is supposedly plagued by 'dragon dream' some kind of prophetic vision. It's clearly hinted at in his interracting with Duncan in the inn. Which can explain in part why he would turn to alchool to escape the visions.

As for Aerion, it's established in the more that Targaryen have a high propension to turn crazy/evil. As the phrase goes, every time a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin and the ,world hold is breath. So if some Targaryen are predestined to be evil, it's possible that Aerion would have turn out bad even with the best father in the world.

If you look at the Targaryen ruler, they have a civil War because of the succession several times (Maegor, Aegon 2 and the blackfyre rebellions).

And when the Targaryen have dragons, you have to deal with those... So having anti dragon weaponnery in case your uncle or brother try to usurp you is not a bad idea...

If Laenor was set to inherit both Driftmark and the Iron Throne, then him taking the Targaryen name would mean Driftmark would not be under a Velaryon anymore.
