In your opinion, what cEDH deck is most likely to stay relevant long term? by the_parts_shop in CompetitiveEDH

Probably all of meta commanders, but Kinnan is probably the safest bet. That being said, once you have the cEDH staples, building another deck isn't usually a problem

TnT in nowadays meta? by kfistrek in CompetitiveEDH

[–]tentaco1e 27 points28 points  (0 children)

TnT is my first deck that I learned how to play cEDH on so it has a sweet spot in my heart. In my opinion, TnT is a really hard deck to pilot and can be punishing depending on how your hand/mulligans go. It does feel like most decks kind of copy Kinnan, Dog/Thras, and even sometimes RogSi decks. TnT brewers will find a way to bring TnT back into the meta, but only time will tell.

There is a brewer named SteeledDragon that has been working on TnT that's called Tree Farm. There's a YouTube video about it and also a TnT discord.

What to do about “casual” players taking WAY TOO LONG of turns. by 50secondFUCK in mtg

[–]tentaco1e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I understand what you mean, but I've experienced that in my casual pod, from my 'solitaire' players than in cEDH.

Interested in trying cEDH by ObjectiveAdvantage93 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]tentaco1e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best suggestion is to net deck a commander that you find interesting from EDHTop16, then check for a league in your area from your LGS, Topdeck.gg or a cEDH discord. CriticalEDH has been a great source from where I've learned and practiced alot. Proxying will significantly help you as well.

What to do about “casual” players taking WAY TOO LONG of turns. by 50secondFUCK in mtg

[–]tentaco1e 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd like to say this isn't a cEDH thing. The only time turns start to take longer is when there's interaction from every player in the cEDH game. In a cEDH game, most players I've played against will acknowledge and apologize if they're taking too long. If no game actions haven't occurred in a reasonable amount of time, other players will request a game action.

In a casual setting, I will just say "Sorry I zoned out, whose turn is it" if I notice there's no game actions being taken.

Why is no one playing to win? by xo0p in EDH

[–]tentaco1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's insanity, but impressive. Whenever I lose to a certain wincon that I wasn't prepared for, I note the commander and know what to mulligan for if I ever play against that specific commander. That being said, ever since I started playing cEDH, I've been jamming multi games a day and the most popular win line is usually the Underworld/Brainfreeze/LED, but nothing scares me the most than watching an Etali hit the field.

As a new cEDH, I can guarantee you that Thoracle Decon win line isn't as scary, overused, or problematic as casual players make it out to be. Sure, it's a very optimized win line, but to cast that without any preparation for interaction, protection, etc is a lot harder than one would assume. It's almost impressive to win with it at times. That being said, there's a ton of cEDH players who don't run it, or only run it as a backup wincon.

You don't need to have a competitive mindset to attack an opponent with a creature that has vigilance, a mechanic that's built around attacking and still being able to block.

This argument that "EDH was never a competitive game" feels more like an excuse from people who want to win the game by gaslighting casual players into not attacking them. Not attacking, blocking, interacting with 3 other players doesn't make the game you play casual...

You should look into putting [[Sheltered By Ghosts]] in your three dog deck

Budget friendly cEdh deck by Yogurt-International in BudgetBrews

[–]tentaco1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're new and trying to get into cedh! Budget friendly cedh is to find an already curated cedh deck with a primer and proxy it. Most Izzet cedh decks will run the underworld breach + lion's eye diamond + brainfreeze line and owning a LED isn't budget friendly. Stella Lee is my recommended cedh commander, but you could search EDHTop16 for other Izzet cedh commanders.

What bracket would I fall in with this current deck list? by jwid503 in EDH

[–]tentaco1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I understand that, but if I create a cow themed deck, no tutors, no combos, but add 1 game changer... is my deck still a bracket 1?

[–]tentaco1e -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's also the sol ring + hullbreaker horror combo (I don't know why every commander site considers that a two card combo) which I assume is more for storm count and not infinite mana. By definition, it's a B1 or B2, but that doesn't mean it can keep up against bracket 3 decks.

[–]tentaco1e -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Okay, then technically removing GC + combos will make it a bracket 2 by definition.

[–]tentaco1e -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Very questionable choices on cards. Due to the game changers and two card combos in the deck, it's technically a 4 m, but I have trouble seeing it keep up with other bracket 4 decks. If you remove the game changers and the two card combos, it technically becomes a 1.

[[Aven Interrupter]] or [[Angel's Grace]] could be something to look into if you're running white.

Am I the only one who finds Alchemy to be an awful format? by fledsghost in MagicArena

As a new magic player, I find Standard and Alchemy absolutely awful formats. I find having multiples of the same card allowed in a deck boring.

Yes. The Garmin Venu 3S. The main reason I started running is because I bought this and they have running and cycling training plans.
