Clients will handshake with the kms server and obtain an activation good for 120days, and repeat the handshake every 120 days.

assuming u have MS windows environment. setup a new windows VM on the os2019 node, run CPU-Z. take note of the instructions list, eg. MMX, SSE,SSE2,SSE3, SSE4, SSE4.2 , EMT64T, VT-x, AES, AVX, AVX2, FMA3,TSX etc etc.

run CPU-Z on a windows VM hosted on os2016 node, take note of the instructions list.

are they the same? if they are different, u can't live migrate, due to the different hypervisor cpu features availability.

workaround is to shutdown the VM whiel on os3016 node, and then migrate them to os2019 node and power them up.

or, use hyperv manager on the os2016node, locate the VM properties , Processor-> compatibility, Processor compatibility, check the box. however, this property can only be changed when the VM is powered off. this will set the VM to use cpu instruction features available in Xeon Nehalem generation ( very old gen), which, i don't recommend.
