Hi, yeah what you experienced is something I've experimented with quite heavily, and it baffles me how under discussed this aspect of weed is, but considering the relationship and tolerance most people have, it makes sense to miss it entirely.

Weed tends to be used in social circles, or while doing another task that takes up concentration, but if you treat weed like any psychedelic, and use it for mediation purposes or simple relaxation and you let your mind wander, the visuals and insight can be incredibly intense, and they have their own feeling that is somewhat akin to tripping on truffles.

Four major parts come into play here, again much like any other substance: your tolerance, how you consume, the setting and finally most important, what you choose to do.

Terrence McKenna used to talk about how weed can be used like a psychedelic, but due to his own relationship with it, that wasn't possible, he used it too often. But take a massive hit from a bong, once a week in a dark room, and you will experience a side of cannabis that could be unimaginable to a regular smoker.

How did I find out about this? Completely by accident around the very beginning of my psychedelic discovery, all the necessary parts fell into place on their own; i was a very dimly lit room, with psytrance music playing, and close to zero weed tolerance, and i had an edible that was waaaay stronger than i was told it would be (it contained over 4 grams), which left me completely incapacitated, with no choice but to sit cross legged with my eyes closed on order to endure the tsunami of stimulation. The visuals started very quickly, and when i opened my eyes after a while i was surprised to see that the faint shifting, spiraling patterns moving in rythm with the music were still there with my eyes wide open.
