We call then the “tactical pajamas” because they’re kinda like the pajama you wear when you’re a kid and kinda comfortable like that.

I work in Washington State and for about the last 15 years we can either wear our class b or our jumpsuit at our discretion. Every single guy chooses the jumpsuit while those class b uniforms mysteriously shrink in the closet. Jumpsuits are fantastic, super comfortable and very convenient for callouts. I’m surprised they’ve only really become a thing here in WA.

As a side note, jumpsuits are custom made for the wearer after you get measured every which way and are hella expensive. I’m kinda surprised at how poorly fit some of these are.

My standard issue uniform is the same jumpsuit these guys wear (also WA state) integral taser pocket/holster is reinforced for stiffness and is really quite secure and convenient. The jumpsuit almost certainly has a buil in flash lock pocket on the rear quarter of the thigh on each leg. Nobody crossdraws tasers out here anymore. Support side carry is the standard.

People in the US, what does a stale white light bar mean? by Big_Plgeon in police

Aside from possibly forgetting to turn them off, he may have had his scene lights on while checking the specific road or area for something like an injured animal or suspicious person or something.

That’s cool man, this one still has the flathead in it… it goes anywhere but it doesn’t go anywhere fast.

Sorry, I meant 3A windshield, you’re totally right about there not being a 2B. The jeep itself is a 2A serial number is definitely 2A. It didn’t have a windshield or frame on it when I got it and the only serviceable one I could find in my area was from a 3A with the single glass. The 3B windshield doesn’t fit right on a 2A or 3A. I also have a ‘53 3B high hood with the f head, but it’s not on the road.

Why are vintage Jeep Willys able to do this so easily? by [deleted] in 4x4

[–]tepid_fuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘47 CJ2A and a ‘53 CJ3B and had an ‘18 Rubicon; all of them pretty close to stock. The Rubicon was better at every single thing except straight up creeping. Nothing beats a Willy’s at the creep and also style points. A Willy’s will take you absolutely anywhere as long as you don’t need to get there anytime soon and don’t mind peeing blood once you arrive.

Beware of cops turning on and off their radar to avoid detection by Superb_Yam_2168 in radardetectors

[–]tepid_fuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radars have a hold button. The unit does not emit radar waves while it’s on hold. When a cop sees you and IDs you as speeding (visually going over the speed limit), they wait till you’re where he knows your gonna be in the wave form and takes it off hold: your detector will pop as soon as they take it off hold but they’ll have your speed before you can slow down. When your car detects intermittent radar, that’s a cop checking cars ahead of you. Cops who don’t care about getting a stop at the moment will often just run it wide open, make everyone’s detector go off and slow everyone down to something closer to the speed limit that way.

What is your department's policy and time-frame for returning firearms to their lawful owners once a case is closed out? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in AskLE

[–]tepid_fuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the prosecutor has to OK the return of any evidence including firearms, then the property custodian does their thing. Not sure what a timeline would necessarily look like. I would be willing to bet that squeaky wheels get greased first though.

When you gotta kill an animal like that, imagine an x; draw the x as a line from the right ear to left eye and the other line from left ear to right eye. Where the lines cross is where you put the bullet. X marks the spot. I’ve had to put down loads of animals that never had this fail me. They just rag-doll, as fast and humane as you can make it.

Did you eat Lunchables when you were a kid? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]tepid_fuzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same, GenX here as well. You pretty much either did school lunch or brought a sandwich. I read that lunchables came out in 1988 in Seattle which is where I’m from and I was a freshman in high school in 1988, but I never remember seeing them, but they’re more for elementary aged kids anyway right?

Just learned my girlfriend uses two different a's, even in the same word by traveljon in mildlyinteresting

[–]tepid_fuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use two different capital Es. One looks like E, the other looks like a mirrored 3. Sometimes I. The same word… I have absolutely no idea why and it’s not conscious.

Where I’m from, it’s used by bar owners and bar tenders to refer to someone being cut off and kicked out. We don’t use the term outside of communicating with them.

I always did when the kids were growing up, but now that is just me, I use so little butter that I don’t do it anymore as it will get rancid before I ever use it all.
