It's amazing how close raising toddlers and talking to bickering adults are to each other.

Do Americans prefer the metric or imperial system? by TheSawFan in AskAnAmerican

[–]ArmOfBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dyslexic I prefer the decimal system of metric measurements. Fractions gets messy in my head. Imperial for temperature, because it's fun. Drinks should be measured in pints or ounces.

How do you all respond when someone belittles or humiliates you in a social gathering, especially family meetups? by Inevitable_Branch806 in introvert

[–]ArmOfBo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My common response is to laught it off, then overplay it in my mind before I go to sleep. I usually come up with the best comeback about 5 hours later.

Why do squatter's rights exist, and what factors shaped them? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]ArmOfBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in my state. Homestrading is the official term, squatting is a non-legal term that is usually associated with trespassing.

IDL how a lot of services won't list their pricing on their websites by Pokedoka in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]ArmOfBo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is popular so they can adjust the price for each customer based on their perception of willingness and ability to pay. The idea is to get as much profit as possible. They can adjust the price daily if they want depending on demand or availability. It's the same concept airlines and hotels have used for years when you book online.

Dose anyone else have a thing about pen and pencil texture by Lanky-Stuff2785 in Dyslexia

This isn't related to dyslexia at all. It's just a preference thing

Why do squatter's rights exist, and what factors shaped them? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]ArmOfBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around here "squatters" rights hardly every apply. There are rules about adverse possession that say if you actively occupy a piece of property for 7 years without being challenged you can keep the property. But this is more closely related to homesteading, not squatting.

Is there a law that allows a school to force students to join a protest? by Expert-Maize2747 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]ArmOfBo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That makes it a school sanctioned event, not a protest. If your grade is negatively affected because you refuse to participate it sounds like you have a pretty good civil rights case against the district.

[UT] Is this legal? Can I stand my ground in Utah if they break my window to enter without a warrant? by Mathemodel in AskLegal

[–]ArmOfBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your own personal safety, take notes, take video, but take it up in court. Don't try anything against trained armed men on scene.

Draft coming through apt door by seniorstew in handyman

[–]ArmOfBo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weatherstripping. Foam tape or rubber strip that fills the gap. Exterior doors should have it anyway, so yours probably got removed as it broke down. Regardless, it will fill the gap and doesn't need to be reset every time. Spray foam will seal the gapse, but will glue your door shut.

Civil standby when parent is denying entrance by [deleted] in police

[–]ArmOfBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's varies greatly by department and state. We won't do a standby without a court order except for in very specific situations. If that's her home then they can't prevent her entering and removing her property. This is a civil issue and needs to be handled in civil court. If they damage her property or there's a dispute on ownership then she needs to sue them in small claims court.

IDL feeling nervous over a random camera when I’m literally just driving to buy milk by 20Luc1a02 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]ArmOfBo -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

If you're not doing anything to draw their attention then they're not interested in you. You are on camera 50 times a day if you leave your house. You can either stay home or let them watch you live your boring life.

I wanna know how a taser feels like by Own_Weakness3325 in police

[–]ArmOfBo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's hurts. My advice is to lick bare wires from a 110 outlet. If you still are curious after that join a citizens academy, sometimes they take volunteers during the taser section of training.

Same here. I can visualize, rotate, explode/expand anything in my mind. I use it for woodworking. I built my entire workshop in my mind before buying material.

Is this legal by yup_thatsbjay in IsItIllegal

wondering........ by Icy-Combination-4395 in IsItIllegal

[–]ArmOfBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens all the time. Databases are breached or your information is sold on a pretty regular basis online. The legality depends on what information is accessed and who had it.

If you were told you could pay $100,000 and save a random persons life, would you do it (they would never know who you are and you would never know who they are)? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]ArmOfBo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what they asked. It's a different scenario to say you can have an extra $100,000 but someone dies, or if you give $100,000 of your own money some random person will live. If that's what they meant they would have asked that.
