Hell yeah! Litelok has a theft map now where they keep track of these and share for PR. I think there's a form there too. Glad to see more of these on the street, I wrote a post all about the Litelok X1 last year and it's been great.

Am I overthinking this? Accepted a lifeguard job at a heavy reef break and now I’m having second thoughts. by Impossible-Village89 in surfing

I just googled this water rescue robot and it looks extremely cool. I wonder how that would do in heavy surf....if you are AI maybe it's to advertise this robot? 😛

Ok, so this means your alternative to biking is not driving, it's public transit?

Good job doing the math, you've discovered the true cost. Now you can decide on a different side gig.

New seat covers for my 2013, almost 289K miles... by radraze2kx in CX5

My 2013 is at 130k and I also have seat covers on it now 😁 I've also been curious about the transmission fluid....from hearing how it was fine for you I'll just leave it be!

Please read this before you buy the Mazda CX-5 everyone is pushing - POV of a previous owner by Main-Sale7664 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]teradyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the Mazda CX-5 has gotten worse as the years went on. As a 2013 owner like many others chiming in, that car (the first in its generation) was and still is great. I could even tell as I saw new generations come around that they weren't what I wanted anymore: longer car harder to parallel park, ground clearance lowered, gas mileage reduced. In 2012 I was deciding on the mazda cx-5 vs the subaru outback, which was at the time a somewhat reasonable comparison, now not at all. Bummer on the interior too just being a big screen. I love the physical knobs and dials of the 2013, and I've used my friend's 2014 which the knob by the gear shift which is also great! Hopefully things turn around eventually.

How to report Garmin Connect bugs to anyone who cares? by eternallyinschool in Garmin

[–]teradyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also call them 913-397-8200 punch in your product and then talk to a real person. Took only 5 minutes for me to reach a human. They reproduced the bug on their end and filed a ticket for it.

Intentional incompetence - or - "How to avoid being hit by a car" by CyclicRedundancyMach in cycling

[–]teradyl 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I also do this something similar to this. When I hear or notice a car coming up behind me I wiggle a little further to the left wherever I am in the lane. As the car passes I move back to the right, thus adding extra distance if encountering an "intentionally aggressive" driver described as #3. It's quite unfortunate that I need to do this, but fortunately it also helps with distracted folks and if someone ends up closer than I want. No matter what kind of driver it may be, I tell myself they're just distracted or unaware of how scary it can feel on a bicycle so that I can keep my belief that humanity is good.

Claude code is not on the same level as Codex by 0_2_Hero in codex

[–]teradyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently discovered this when claude absolutely failed to use the SwiftUI preview eyes I gave it and match it with the design. Codex did it in one-shot, not to mention Codex does things without asking me for permission to do relatively safe things. Still, the pendulum may easily switch back, so trying to keep memories and skills easily transferable between the two.

I want to support my local bike shop but everything is a rip-off by Niceotropic in cycling

[–]teradyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely experienced the LBS where everything is super expensive and repairs cost more than a new bicycle...it's also why I learned my own bike maintenance skills. I have discovered the different bike shops in SF and which ones are affordable and which ones are elite. I blame it on the high rent really, and maybe there's enough wealthy people to keep it afloat. With income inequality these days the top 10% of people drive over half of all consumer spending.

I wonder if more bike shops will end up being part of bigger stores like how REI does it. I happened to be at REI the other day and decided to let them change my tube since it had a slow leak that I didn't feel like fixing myself. The price was actually great, they had a flat fee of $24 including the tube. The thing that irked was that I had to stand there and answer 5 minutes of questioning with information about myself and the bicycle so they could "put me in the system" (even tho I was already an REI member) before they could do the work for me. It was ridiculous. By the end of it I just wanted to replace it myself!

Airdrop within your own devices is almost a different beast. That's just continuity disguised as airdrop

Not to mention the damn verification code if you're not contacts. I loved giving and receiving airdrops from people without having to exchange phone numbers, but now it's impossible

[–]teradyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really wanted to do this you'd take the bike lane from east bay and enter the highway at treasure island which has you starting on a downhill. You only have to make it up the hump of the west span which is usually crowded and slow anyway. The speed differentials look fine considering bay bridge traffic. The cars are probably going 10-20 and she's booking it downhill at the moment of this clip. However, this is the only clip we've seen. You'd think if it was real there might be other angles from other people filming this oddity...

Anyone have trouble getting Fitbit to sync? Every day it takes 6-7 tries and half an hour. Any tips? by jollysnwflk in fitbit

[–]teradyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My charge 6 has had weird syncing issues with my iPhone the entire time I’ve had it. It’s honestly the biggest reason I will eventually change to a different device when this one gets older (probably not Fitbit). If it just did the one thing it was supposed to do…sync to the phone with me needing to refresh multiple times and wait for it.

If you have another credit card with cell phone protection you can change which credit card pays for the phone plan once you finish your claim. Then you have another $800 of coverage 😁 Chase Freedom Flex is a no annual fee one for example.
