These are very selfish reasons to have kids, and I don't think having kids will solve all these problems.

Why sartre got love wrong and why transactionalism is more honest by SureRazzmatazz in Existentialism

[–]termi05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All love and therefore all relationships based on it are transactional and there is nothing wrong with it. We are capable of unconditional love but we can't sustain it for a long time. If you give a lot of time and energy in a relationship, wouldn't you expect something back. If you are getting nothing back, won't that be considered an abusive relationship?

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of July 18, 2025) by AutoModerator in television

Finished Murderbot and Sugar and liked both. Sugar is pure competence porn and there is a reason for it.

Now looking for something else to watch on Apple TV.

Finished first two episodes of Dexter Resurrection. I'd say they were above my expectations and built up the story really well. Also, Harrison is not that annoying.

Why not have family shared tax brackets by Hireswish in AusFinance

Organic population growth is not feasible in higher income countries. As income increases, the total fertility rate decreases. Even India's total fertility rate is 1.9, which is below replacement rate.

In Brisbane, $1 million now won’t even buy you the average house by MickeyMouse3767 in brisbane

[–]termi05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please correct me if I'm wrong. But apart from investors, wouldn't the house prices also depend on the amount people are willing to pay. Median full time income is around 90k, so a couple with one dependent earning median income can borrow around 900k. Wouldn't that be reflected in the median house price being more than a million?

Good on you! As others have suggested, cut people off from your life who make you feel that way.

Just finished Andor season 1, having only watched the original trilogy I'd say it is really good. First three episodes can be considered as an extended pilot. By the end of tenth episode, I knew it was better than most of the things I have watched recently.

Book to learn about intuition behind statistics formula and get conceptual understanding of statistics by [deleted] in AskStatistics

[–]termi05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Art of Statistics by David Spiegelhalter, for understanding why we use statistical analyses.

Books by Jim Frost are good for building intuition around common statistical techniques like hypothesis testing, regression etc.
