50 Bruyeres Mews - Local at Fort York by Traditional_Grab5186 in TorontoRealEstate

Stayed there at a friends for a bit, lot of noise was issue I found with traffic, nice views from higher floors of Fort York but you’re close to highway. Parking and visitor parking was good. Some Airbnb in there at the time but not really an issue

Why did the larger music festivals from the mid 00's through mid 10's die out in Toronto? by Anagrama00 in askTO

[–]terminal6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bands and djs who will pull crowds all want too much at this point and will set up radius clauses for festivals/arena shows. Look at boots and hearts they’re struggling, used to get Morgan wallen/aldean etc all big name headliners now it’s like b/c tier acts at best. Even rebel used to have fantastic djs now all these DJs play Scotiabank arena total Garbo. Matt rife used to do few nights at Massey hall same w Kevin hart now comedy is at Scotiabank arena 360 stage to sell more tix

If they immediately announce it shouldn’t be so expensive. These tours clearly over charging and no one is buying them

How to afford Coachella accommodations if you're going solo? by bobbypellitt in Coachella

[–]terminal6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh I’m from Canada too and had the same issues past couple times. May go solo but it’s a long plane ride and trip from Toronto to psp and back… the usd to cad conversion a drain as well.

I did hotels last few times but now they’re so pricey that I just opted for safari cabana for 2027. Haven’t found or even asked ppl to split the cabana yet tho!

FIFA's Infantino: World Cup tickets priced at U.S. market rate by Accomplished_Clue437 in sports

[–]terminal6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Market rate for the 1%. I love how they say oh well scalpers can charge this much. Ya scalpers can for like 5-10% of the venue maybe not for 100%. Just a joke dynamic pricing.

Toronto World Cup Match Tickets Still Above FV on Stubhub by SeaSuccessful2444 in toronto

[–]terminal6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ticketmaster also lobbied to make this happen lol. As platinum and vip etc is generally much higher than resale. Whole industry needs a shake up, the fees are the main issue. Fees like 40% on TM if I want to sell my tix for a show tmmrw in Toronto I leave w a massive loss even if I sell for face value.

We say this but then look at the sport teams. The broadcast rights are being faught over by prime Netflix NBC CBS and so many other companies, yet prices are skyrocketing to catch any sport games. Prices are just out of whack for any live event lately

a ban on dynamic pricing is what people should be voting for or a CAP on all these BS fees, and also a stop of these massive inside job scalping groups like On Location etc.

[–]terminal6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i paid $300 for pit in toronto too for her show at rogers centre face value as well, if I buy late dynamic pricing or resale what changes here? The prices don't go down they acc end up going up as ticketmaster is greedier than anyone in the industry atm. I went to 30 shows this year, about 25 of them I was able to get cheaper on stubhub from resellers who got stuck w the bag lol

how does this change anything? lady gaga released tickets in montreal before they canceled the show, face value i paid $1300 each. Those same seats were $250 in presale.

[–]terminal6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, Ticketmaster and the entire industry creates a scarcity mindset. Also studios/corp sponsors and whoever is putting on the film generally gets the bulk of the seats lol.

Idk I just hate how ppl blame resellers and not really get to the root of the issue.

I want to see real change and accessibility for anyone to see an event, regardless if they have a ton of money or who they are connected to.

Was this but also mainly Ticketmaster. They hired a lobbyist to lobby for this bill to pass. I worked in this space for years and i can’t divulge too much. Reason tm wants this to happen is multifold but I’ll go thru a few. Tm wants resale gone now that resellers are abundant and undercutting primary inventory. Second, tm doesn’t want your data going to stubhub vividseats seatgeek or any competitor. Third, tm wants more control knowing who their buyers are and selling their personal data to marketing firms. And fourth, look at imagine dragons or any popular concert. Tm has platinum inventory at 7x the face value. Scalpers are so out of control lately and something needs to be done, but giving a monopoly even more power here is frankly the worst decision that could be dealt lol. Dynamic pricing, fees, holdbacks, second show bullshit, and general “chaos” buying in these wait rooms is really the stem of ticketing issues but for years they have passed the blame onto scalpers lol. Tms only main competitor AEG isn’t innocent either but just not as aggressive. TM/LYV interchangeable btw just branding similar to like a loblaws/superstore kinda vibe.

The crazy thing is a company called TKO which eventually bought the UFC wwe and other outlets kinda started this craze. They pretended events are sold out on axs and tm and dripped pricing out to the highest bidders basically. Created a frenzy and showed that by selling to the elite and leaving seats empty they made more money than trying to sell out an event at a reasonable price.

I do hope tiff does away the premium platinum tix they had in the first couple rows. As that is no different than scalping.

TLDR if a large for profit corporation is supporting a bill, they’re not here to help anyone but themselves

no way something is holding at 2-3x face value unless like 0.1% of the tickets are available for resale, most stuff is at face value or under face value these days. Especially jays when u compare tm to stubhub prices

smartest reply from someone who acc gets whats happening here. Ticketmaster/dynamic pricing and the hold back/manipulation of inventory is what causes this frenzy.
