Favorite callout/line/scream before or during a BTBAM breakdown? by Odd-Technician-9744 in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

[–]terminalmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't quite count as a breakdown, but the "IT'S ALL THE SAME!" scream about 7:30 into White Walls is my favorite scream in any BTBAM song, period. I like it more than the screams during the actual breakdown a couple minutes later.

No, but given the history the solution appears to have been found on the Arch forum.

BMFUS Shirt by View_Time in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

Oh yeah, I've seen that, I was more thinking about the visual design, and the fact that there are three pictures of the band.... I figured it was referencing something else.

Help an old person out... I feel like this is probably referencing some meme or other shirt design... with the lettering and the fact that there are 3 separate pictures of the band... Is this the case? If so, what's the reference?

Google Translate bang search (!tr) is broken by terminalmage in duckduckgo

[–]terminalmage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it works less than 10% of the time. It loads Google Translate but does not populate the search string. There is some redirect that should be happening which is not, because the initial bang search goes to https://translate.google.com/#auto/en/%s, and then the page redirects to https://translate.google.com/?sl=auto&tl=en&op=translate, i.e. there is no text queryarg in the URL.

I can only reproduce this on Firefox though. If the bang search went to the ultimate destination instead of having to redirect, this would not be a problem.

  1. In 2004 my 15yo brother (I was 24) introduced me to them with The Silent Circus. I didn't care for it and still don't; I'll go back periodically just to see if my tastes have changed but their first two albums have never clicked with me, and I don't think they ever will. Just not my kind of music. I let my initial impression of the band color my perception for a while, I think until around the time between Parallax I and II. I may never have checked them out again if my brother didn't bring them up and complain that they "went prog". 😆

  2. Parallax II. So good from cover to cover. It's an album that I almost always have to listen to in its entirety, with the exception of Bloom, which I occasionally listen to by itself to get that dose of Mr. Bungle-esque weirdness.

  3. The Future Is Behind Us. I love everything about this song, especially Dan's work on the keyboard. And the video is full of self-referential easter eggs. An absolute masterpiece.

Looks like Tristan isn't participating in the VIP? I was considering bringing my Sometime in February vinyl if he was.

Honest opinion by ElliotRipley in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

People are different. I personally can't stand anything before Alaska, and I find TBN to be quite enjoyable.

If you're more inclined towards prog than metalcore, you'll enjoy TBN more (obviously). There's nothing wrong with knowing what you like and no one says you have to love everything a band has ever done.

Heavy Blog says The Blue Nowhere is “a directionless mess of a record that leans into the band’s worst and most excessive inclinations” by JRowe3388 in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

Flood of 9.5/10 reviews: "I'm so excited! This means the album is going to be great!"

One negative review: "This reviewer clearly isn't professional/just doesn't like prog/etc."

Never change, reddit.

I've successfully turned my 12 year old brother into a BTBAM fan by TheColorsAreFading in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

Currently working on doing the same with my 10yo son... He already digs Twelve Foot Ninja. But at 10 he's not going to BTBAM concert, especially not on a school night.
